Backstage Update On EVIL’s Potential Move To WWE, Eyes NXT Debut

As previously reported, longtime NJPW star and professional wrestling veteran EVIL submitted his notice to the Japanese promotion in January, and it was suggested at that time that he might be headed to WWE.

According to The Flagship Wrestling Podcast, discussions between EVIL and WWE are currently ongoing. It was noted that he has expressed interest in potentially starting in NXT rather than debuting on the main roster. He believes that beginning in NXT would help him adapt to WWE’s style, and he prefers to bring his established character into the company.

There is still no information on when EVIL may make his WWE debut, but updates will be provided as they become available.

EVIL has spent almost his entire wrestling career in NJPW, with the exception of an excursion to ROH in 2014. In recent years, he has been the founder and leader of the HOUSE OF TORTURE faction within the promotion. He is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, IWGP Intercontinental Champion, NEVER Openweight Champion, IWGP Tag Team Champion, and NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion. His final match in NJPW took place at the Road to the New Beginning event on January 20th, where he teamed with his HOUSE OF TORTURE stablemates and lost to Aaron Wolf, Master Wato, Toru Yano, and YOH.
