Backstage Update On Royce Keys’ WWE Status And Potential Plans Ahead

As previously reported, Royce Keys made his WWE debut in January during the 2026 Royal Rumble PLE, where he participated in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match. However, Keys has yet to appear on WWE television, despite his recent appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast, “What’s Your Story?” and participation in several dark matches before SmackDown.

According to BodySlam+, WWE has been having Keys work dark matches ahead of SmackDown to gain in-ring experience while the creative team determines his direction moving forward. The report also mentioned that WWE and Keys have filmed vignettes for him, which are expected to begin airing soon. Sources indicate that SmackDown will likely be the brand where Keys competes, although WWE has not officially announced his brand affiliation since his Royal Rumble appearance.

An earlier report from Fightful Select noted that WWE had filmed content for Keys, but provided no details on the nature of the footage, the creative plans for him, or the date of his re-debut. While Keys has not officially made his re-debut yet, WWE has heavily promoted his appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast across its programming.
