Earlier this week, it was reported that based on the developments at Survivor Series: WarGames, WWE was looking to lock in the main events of WrestleMania as having Bron Breakker take on CM Punk and Cody Rhodes wrestle Roman Reigns.
Since then though, Punk and Breakker have already been announced for the first episode of WWE Monday Night Raw in January 2026 while it seems unlikely that WWE would run back Rhodes and Reigns for a third time. Another big consideration is that there are still several months left until WrestleMania with many scenarios forcing changes.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that despite the tease of Rhodes/Reigns, the match is still being internally planned for a third time but that it isn't necessarily scheduled for WrestleMania 42.
Meltzer added that Seth Rollins' return to WWE storylines next year will further complicate the main event title picture and possibilities for WrestleMania include Rollins vs. Bron Breakker, Reigns vs. CM Punk and Rhodes against "someone else."
