WWE's star-studded Survivor Series: WarGames is in the rear view mirror and as hinted at prior to the event, it is believed that the seeds for WrestleMania 42 next year were expected to be planted. Not only that but a hooded mystery man - reported to be Austin Theory - ran in and cost the babyfaces the match by attacking CM Punk.
Dave Meltzer of f4wonline.com reports that Bron Breakker's pin on Punk was intended to set up a future title match between the two, and on his radio show, he speculated that WWE is looking to lock in Punk vs. Breakker and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania 42.
Meanwhile, Theory was actually expected to be part of the match originally as well as a member of The Vision and this was reported last month but the injury to Jacob Fatu caused to WWE to alter their plans in a major way.
The report adds that due to Fatu's injury, WWE moved up the Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre feud by a month and presumably those two were initially supposed to wrestle at Survivor Series. With the feud fast-tracked, it opened them both up for WarGames - Rhodes as Fatu's direct replacement and McIntyre as a more natural fit in the match than Theory.
