Chris Jericho Reflects On 20-Year Anniversary Of His WWE TV Debut On WWE RAW

With just over three weeks remaining until he squares off against Hangman Page in the inaugural AEW World Championship match at the AEW All Out 2019 pay-per-view, Chris Jericho took to social media to acknowledge the 20-year anniversary of another milestone in his pro wrestling career.

Jericho took to Twitter and Instagram on Friday to comment on today, August 9th, marking the 20-year anniversary of his official WWE debut as "Y2J."

After weeks and weeks of vignettes featuring a clock counting down until the new millennium -- where at the time there was a worldwide scare known as "Y2K" heading into the new year, and millennium, of 2000 -- the clock appeared live on the titan tron on the August 9, 1999 episode of WWE RAW as The Rock was in mid-sentence during a live in-ring promo segment.

After the countdown concluded, what became Jericho's WWE titan tron video and entrance theme music aired as the former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) cult-favorite stood with his back to the ring while holding his arms stretched out on both sides, in what would also go on to essentially become his personal "Chris Jericho logo" pose.

The Y2..J problem had arrived in WWE, as RAW Is Jericho launched that evening at the AllState Arena in Chicago, Illinois when Chris Jericho made his official WWE television debut in a dueling promo segment with the company's top Superstar, The Rock.

Fast-forward 20-years later and the Fozzy front man and AEW Superstar posted photos of the aforementioned milestone moment from his early WWE career on his various social media outlets, along with a caption that read, "It was 20 years ago today ... #RawIsJericho."

Jericho will make his AEW television debut when the promotion as a whole makes its' own TV debut with the inaugural episode of AEW On TNT from 8-10pm Eastern Time / 5-7pm Pacific Time on Wednesday, October 2nd from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

As noted, Jericho is promising to once again make pro wrestling history, as he is advertised to bring two mystery pro wrestlers with him to the debut edition of AEW On TNT for a big six-man tag-team match against The Elite -- Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson).
