Interesting Backstage Update On Chris Jericho's Status & Possible Return To AEW TV Soon

After rumors of him appearing in WWE were rampant towards the end of 2025 and into 2026 but have since died down, Chris Jericho resurfaced in the news late last month after trademarking the term "Cornerstone" which restarted speculation on his immediate future in wrestling.

Fightful Select reports that there is a "growing belief" that Jericho is imminently set to return to AEW and that the nature of the trademark would fit better in AEW than in WWE. The report added that there has been no recent news on Jericho returning to WWE and he continues to be listed on AEW's roster page which would strongly imply that he is under contract there.

Fightful also reported that there has been "a lot of chatter" internally within AEW that Jericho could be back on TV on tonight's episode of Dynamite but at the same time there has "absolutely" been discussions between Jericho and WWE in recent months.

The report noted though that despite internet rumors, WWE has not been factoring him into any creative plans and Jericho was never at any stage planned for WWE's Netflix Raw anniversary show, the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber. Instead, Jericho and AEW have been discussing a return to TV over the last couple of months.
