NXT superstar Keith Lee spoke with WWE about his successful North American title defense over Johnny Gargano at last night's NXT Takeover In Your House. Lee commended Gargano on being a formidable opponent, but calls his big win sweet redemption after weeks of playing games with the former NXT champion.
Sweet like a lovely mango, fresh picked. We talked about seeing the Gargano dinner and how ridiculous it was, and even my little parody, also ridiculous, but tonight was about redemption. Tonight was about making a point. He made some points. A key to the eye, the damage he's done to my hand. A formidable opponent. He's crafty, cunning, they call him Johnny Takeover for a reason. But tonight...the Gargano's pay not their way.
Lee would later take to Twitter to praise last night's main event, where Io Shirai defeated Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair to become the new NXT women's champion. He writes, "Many things go through my head tonight. But...one thing I must publicly express is: 1. That main event was BONKERS!! Some great competition. 2 I am SO happy for @shirai_io. Well done."
