Earlier today, it was reported once again that current AEW star Chris Jericho is expected to make the jump back to WWE in the new year and that a surprise return at next month's Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia is perhaps a logical spot for him to appear.
In an update, multiple sources now seem to be suggesting that not only is Jericho expected back in WWE soon, but that his return could happen sooner than expected.
Alex McCarty of wrestlingintel.com reports that Jericho's deal with AEW expires at midnight on December 31 and the internal expectation is that the veteran wrestler will commit to a contract with WWE almost immediately after that. Should the deal get done without any hitches, WWE is considering bringing in Jericho on January 5 - the first Raw of the year and the one-year anniversary of the red brand on Netflix.
Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated also noted that his sources believe Jericho is going to be back on WWE TV sooner rather than later.
