As previously reported, TNA Wrestling has been exploring options for a new broadcast network.
According to Jon Alba on The Takedown via SI.com, sources from the television industry indicate that AMC Network has emerged as a potential partner for TNA Wrestling. It is expected that TNA will announce a new media rights deal by the end of 2025, if not sooner. When contacted for comments on the timing of a new deal, TNA officials stated that there are no updates at this moment.
AMC Network is best known for its acclaimed cable television shows such as “Breaking Bad”, “Mad Men”, and “The Walking Dead”. However, AMC has never aired wrestling programming before. There were rumors in 2014 about AMC potentially acquiring WWE, but those reports were later deemed unfounded. A partnership with AMC could bring more visibility and attention to TNA Wrestling. As of last year, estimates indicated that AMC is available in about 60 million homes—double the reach of AXS TV, which was said to be available in just over 30 million homes as of 2023.
Currently, AMC has no affiliation with WWE. Recently, both A&E and The CW have also been mentioned as possible broadcast partners for TNA. The CW airs WWE NXT, while A&E broadcasts WWE programming, including the Superstar Sunday block with shows like “Biography: WWE Legends”, “WWE Rivals”, and “WWE LFG”.
TNA Wrestling currently maintains a strong co-promotional partnership with WWE through the ongoing NXT and TNA crossover. AMC, which falls under the AMC Networks umbrella, is primarily owned by the James Dolan family. Dolan is the executive chairman and CEO of Madison Square Garden Sports and MSG Entertainment, overseeing operations at the venue as well as with the New York Knicks and Rangers.
Other networks under the AMC Networks umbrella include BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, and We TV. It remains unclear how a potential partnership between TNA Wrestling and AMC might affect TNA programming or if TNA iMPACT would need to move to a different night, but updates will be provided as they become available.
