Legendary Professional Wrestling Announcer Passes Away

According to PWInsider.com, Bob Caudle, affectionately known as the legendary voice and play-by-play commentator of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, has passed away at the age of 95. This sad news was shared by his son, Mike, who reported that Caudle passed away peacefully in his sleep during the night.

Caudle was widely recognized for his long-standing role as the voice of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, a position he held for many years. He began his career in professional wrestling in the 1950s, hosting a local wrestling show while also working as a weatherman. Caudle moved to WRAL in Raleigh, where Mid-Atlantic Wrestling was based, and became the announcer for the promotion when it was still known as NWA Atlantic Coast Wrestling. He continued to host the show for decades, adapting as it evolved into NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. Throughout his career, he worked alongside notable figures like David Crockett, Johnny Weaver, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone.

After leaving WCW in late 1991, Caudle joined SAPW, which formally closed a few months later. He then moved to Smoky Mountain Wrestling, where he remained the voice of the promotion until it shut down in 1995. Caudle continued to make appearances at NWA events over the years, with his last wrestling appearance being at Ric Flair’s Last Match in 2022, where he delivered both the opening and closing lines for the show.

On behalf of Rajah.com, we extend our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Mr. Caudle.
