-- It looks like an major, yet unexpected match, could headline next year's WWE WrestleMania 41 and it doesn't involve The Rock.
-- Fightfulselect.com reports that CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns has not only been heavily discussed internally as a WrestleMania main event, but that it is the "likely direction" that the company will go. The report adds that this direction wasn't in the plans as of several weeks ago but an adjustment was made recently and that Punk was hoping it would happen.
-- Reigns and Punk have only wrestled once before on television over a decade ago in January of 2024 where Reigns won the match. A few months later, Punk - after leaving WWE - noted in an interview that WWE officials told him to "make Roman look strong" and this ended up as backstage chatter that lasted a long time. It would appear that related to that, Reigns was one of the talents who was not supportive of Punk returning to WWE last year.
-- A potential Reigns vs. Punk match would of course be wildly different from what WWE had originally planned for both wrestlers for WrestleMania even just a few weeks ago and the fightfulselect reports indicates that even the original plans didn't involve the Rock. That essentially is the big caveat in current WrestleMania storylines because if The Rock suddenly informs WWE that he will be available for WrestleMania, plans will no doubt be modified again and the card - including this match - will change.
