-- With rumors running rampant that he is headed to WWE once his AEW contract expires, Rey Fenix has apparently pulled out of an indie event that he was booked for in September. Texas-based New Era Wrestling had Fenix on their September 27th card in a triple threat match but released a statement last night noting that Fenix had pulled out of the event due to "personal circumstances."
“Rey Fenix will be unable to participate in our lucha libre event on September 27th due to personal circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as it is beyond our control. However, we remain committed to delivering the finest lucha libre experience in El Paso. We assure you of this promise.”
-- As reported extensively over the last few weeks, Fenix and his older brother Pentagon Jr., have AEW contracts expiring in the near future and while the promotion is interested in re-signing them, the duo seem to have made up their mind that they will jump ship to WWE.
