A scary situation took place last night at Ohio Valley Wrestling's weekly "Rise" event when referee Dallas Edwards was suffered a medical emergency during a match and had to be taken to a hospital.
During a tag team match, Edwards was involved in a spot where he came in as the second ref following a bump that took out the first official. The planned spot saw one wrestler push him into the way of a forearm off the top rope, however, the spot went sideways and Edwards felt the brunt of it, getting knocked unconscious.
While Edwards lay there motionless, the wrestlers continued the match but the situation took a horrific turn when Edwards began convulsing in the ring in what could only be described as a major seizure and possible brain injury. In what many considered an even more reckless act, one of the wrestlers then moved Edwards out of the way and even pushed him with his foot away from the action.
The match was eventually stopped and the show prematurely ended as Edwards received medical attention before being taken to the hospital where he was described as being awake and coherent. Footage of the accident is below but be warned that it is a terrifying watch.
I just watched the referee having a seizure in OVW, and its fucking horrible. These idiots just wrestle around him, and then as he's stiff and shaking, one of the clowns just drags him out the way. One of the worst things I've seen in wrestling, and that is saying something pic.twitter.com/PvJ7Oy7Hlm
