t’s Wednesday again, and that means it’s time for a recap of the WWE YouTube show, The Bump! Today’s show is full of guests, including Karrion Kross & Scarlett, Raquel Gonzales, Triple H & Shawn Michaels, Adam Cole, and LA Knight. Now that we’re all caught up on what’s going down, let’s take a look at The Bump!
⁃ Kayla kicks off the special edition of The Bump, which is all about NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver. After Kayla runs down the list of today’s guests, the co-hosts introduce themselves, and the first interview is on tap.
Triple H & Shawn Michaels
Kayla kicks off the interview by asking both men what their feelings are heading into the show. Shawn says “it is nervous and stressful. This is a huge event for us”. Hunter adds to that, and says “you want it to be perfect for the performers. If WrestleMania is the Super Bowl, we’re the conference championships”. Matt joins the conversation, and asks how the goals at Takeovers has changed. Hunter tells him “let’s show the world what we can do. When we first started we wanted to keep the network on the air, and everyone had a common goal. It’s the same way now”. Evan asks Shawn about Karrion Kross, and HBK shares his thoughts on him. Shawn says Kross “will get the best version of Finn Balor ever, and he’s hard to bet against”. Ryan jumps in, and he wants to know about Io Shirai, and her “ultimate key to success”. Shawn tells him Io has “tenacity, and she is unbelievably intense”. Kayla shifts the focus to the tag team division, and asks about the triple threat bout for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Shawn says “it’ll be fast paced and exciting. Adaptability will be a premium”. Triple H talks about ring I.Q., and adds “no matter who you are, if you lose that ability, it becomes problematic. Evan keeps with the tag team thing, and asks about the Women’s Tag Team Championship match. Shawn talks about each competitor, and picks The Way to win the match. Triple H gives his thoughts on Candice LeRae, and says “she’s a step ahead of most people in that ring”. Ryan begins to talk about ladder matches, and wants to know what Shawn’s expectations of the Cruiserweight Championship match are. Shawn tells him “ladder matches have come along way, but they are rarely used the way they should be”. Triple H adds to Shawn’s comments, and says “This one will be next level, this is going to be barn burner. Both men have something to prove”. Matt hops back in, and he wants to know about the matchup between Pete Dunne and Kushida. Triple H tells him “every match might steal the show, and this is certainly one. It’s a sleeper”. Kayla thanks both men for taking the time to chat, and the segment comes to a close.
⁃ Once DX moves on, The Bump crew talks about the NXT UK Championship collision between WALTER and Tommasso Ciampa. The hosts also share their thoughts on the NXT Women’s Championship match between Raquel Gonzalez and Io Shirai, until Kayla brings on the second guest.
Kayla kicks off the interview by asking Raquel about her match tonight, and says “it could be the biggest moment of your career”. Raquel says “there is something in the air today. I have so much energy for tonight”. Matt joins the conversation, and he wants to know how past matches have prepared her for tonight. Raquel tells him “the experience has prepared me for today. Knowing the kind of Champion she is, I have to mentally prepare. Anything can happen”. Ryan follows up on that, and wonders what the difference is between her first Takeover and this one. Raquel tells him “my confidence and my arsenal has grown. I’m trying to be more in the moment”. Evan wants to know if Raquel has more in store for Io, after putting her through the wall. Raquel boldly states “if I have to throw her through the ring I will”. Kayla brings up Raquel and Dakota earning the Tag Team Championships, only to lose them in an hour, and asks if that will motivate her tonight. Raquel responds, and tells her “that tiny taste of gold made me hungry for more. All I want is more, and tonight is the night to feed that inner beast in me”. Ryan throws his two cents in, and wonders if Dakota has had any advice for her, ahead of tonight’s match. Raquel tells the hosts “she reminded me why I am here”. Evan recalls the NXT Takeover: In Your House, and Raquel tells him “that night reminds me of so much. At that point in my career I started to become so comfortable. I am at the pique of my career now, and I couldn’t feel better”. Kayla asks for final words from Raquel, and Raquel tells her “I don’t have anything else to say. Tonight she will see first hand”.
⁃ When Raquel exits the show, the hosts continue to talk about NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver. The Crew then moves into discussions about the NXT North American Championship Opportunity Eliminator Gauntlet match, until Kayla brings on another guest.
Knight joins the show for the first time, and he wants to talk right away. Knight says Cameron Grimes “will go to the moon. It’s gonna be rough for Leon Ruff, and we don’t even have to talk about Dexter Loomis or Bronson Reed. They’ll all get dropped tonight”. Knight says all “are incredibly talented, but I’m head and shoulders above the rest”. Ryan asks about Knight’s strategy, and LA tells him “I come in and tell you exactly what I’m gonna do, and that’s what I do. No one can touch me, no one is my league. Tonight is the stepping stone to becoming the North American Championship”. Kayla rejoins the conversation, and him that Bronson Reed defeated him two weeks ago. Knight responds, and tells Kayla “Bronson Reed is in debt, and he needs to get at me”. Ryan talks about the “specifics” of Knight entering the match last, and LA tells him “it’s just a normal Wednesday night for me. When I come in, I come in to win”. Evan wonders what Knights final words before the match may be, and Knight responds by saying “you’ve got five guys licking their chops for the title, but they need to come see me. The way it goes down, there’s five guys and one megastar. Johnny Gargano, I’m coming to see ya”.
⁃ An extremely confident LA Knight moves along, and the crew makes their predictions for tonight. Matt takes viewers on a tour through the WWE warehouse, and throws the show back over to Kayla, who brings on Adam Cole.
After a video package recaps the the story between Cole and Kyle O’Reilly, the former NXT Champion joins the show. Kayla asks where Adam’s head is it, and he tells her “I’m emotionally drained, while at the same time I’ve never thought more clearly in my life”. Adam says he’s always been “number one” between the two of them, and this has turned into “me having to teach a friend a lesson”. Evan hops in, and wants to know if this was all a long time coming. Cole tells him “the Undisputed Era could have lasted forever, but Kyle lost sight of what the Era was about”. Cole continues, and says “when Kyle challenged for the title twice, and failed, then tried to invite Finn in, I knew I had to shut it down”. Matt wonders what happened to Adam Cole being “upbeat”, and gives a recap of the history between him and Kyle. Cole responds, and tells him “it didn’t have to(come to this)”. Adam goes on, and adds “if Kyle would have understood what I was trying to do, we wouldn’t have gotten here”. Adam continues, and says “when I think of all the wars we have had, they will be nothing compared to the unsanctioned match”. Ryan shows Cole a tweet from Kyle saying the match will be “must see”, and Adam responds, saying “it will definitely be must see, but the thing he’s wrong about is that it will be nothing like anything anyone has ever seen between us”. Kayla rejoins the interview, and wonders what the differences from his debut are, compared to now. Cole responds, and talks about being the longest reigning NXT Champion, and having the “match of the night at Survivor Series”. Cole continues, and claims “I am the best. Kyle is an idiot”. Matt asks if Cole “has a serious problem with Roddy”, and Cole tells him “Roddy really cared about the Undisputed Era. He is clearly eaten alive by this, and it’s bothered him”. Cole closes his thoughts on Strong, saying that he “wishes the best for Roddy”. Kayla thanks Adam for joining the show, and the segment comes to an uncomfortable close.
⁃ When Cole fades away, The Bump crew talks about the upcoming WrestleMania editions of the show, and plugs tonights watch along special. After a few more predictions, Kayla welcomes in the final guests.
Karrion Kross and Scarlett
Kross and Scarlett join the show, and Kayla asks Karrion how he he’s feeling ahead of the match. Kross says “I’m feeling aggressive”. Evan asks if Karrion is ready to go, and Scarlett tells them “stay tuned”. Ryan asks about the mind games between Scarlett and Finn, and Scarlett tells the hosts “I’m excited to see how the violence plays out”. Kross adds to that, and says “I know exactly what hes going to do”. Kayla wonders about the level of respect Kross has for Finn, and he says “the writing is on the wall for this guy”. Matt chimes in, and wants to know about the “worldly experience” both men have. Kross confidently tells Matt “win or lose Finn will be a future Hall of Famer. If I beat him, that’s great for me”. Ryan jumps in, and questions Scarlett about their “disdain for Finn”. Scarlett tells him “I’m a tough chick, and he has to pay for what he’s done”. Kayla takes both back to a year ago, when both appeared in NXT for the first time. Kayla asks if this has all been “their destiny”, and Scarlett says “everything happens for a reason”. All of the hosts thank both for joining, and the guests exit the show.
⁃ When the challenger to the NXT Championship moves along, the hosts make their final picks, and the show fades to black.
That’s all for this weeks episode of The Bump! Thanks for stopping by the recap, and have a great rest of your day everyone.
