WWE Friday Night SmackDown Live Results (February 4, 2022): Paycom Center - Oklahoma City, OK

Previously on As the WWE Universe Turns...

We open with a video recapping the events of last weekend's Royal Rumble and some of the fallout thereafter. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee, arguably the most excited and enthusiastic play caller in the history of the sport, welcome us to Oklahoma and Friday Night SchmackDahn.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns Reunites with Paul Heyman

Pat McAfee damn-near goes hoarse as he gets excited to see The Bloodline en force, draped in all of the Blue Brand's gold excluding the Intercontinental title and women's titles. Heyman presents Reigns the belt at the top of the ramp and he hoists it up to digital boos and a mixed local reaction. Tonight marks 522 days into Roman Reigns' reign. Jay and Jimmy Uso flank their Tribal Chief as we're reminded that Brock Lesnar has chose Roman Reigns for his WrestleMania opponent after winning the Royal Rumble. And there's always those pesky rumors of a title unification after Brock Lesnar was added to the Elimination Chamber match for Bobby Lashley's WWE Championship.
Heyman gets on the mic five minutes into the entrance and does his usual schtick. The Bloodline stand at attention, blue straps over each shoulder, as Heyman denies that there was any conspiracy "to make Brock Lesnar look foolish--though he looks like a damn fool anyways," he adds. He brags that in Chicago he acknowledged that he'd made the biggest mistake of his career and, in Heyman's heart, he knew he must continue to acknowledge the Tribal Chief. He regrets mistakenly try to protect Roman Reigns when he didn't need it--unlike Brock Lesnar did for all those years. Paul Heyman brings up being fired and makes fun of Oklahomans to heckle the crowd. He then mentions setting Brock Lesnar up to become the WWE Champion and everything would be fine--Brock on Monday, Roman on Friday, and everybody "was in their place." He then criticizes Lesnar's first decision as champ to be to challenge Roman Reigns yet again. Heyman tells us that Lesnar "looks like a schmuck and now he acts like a schmuck" because he won't "accept his place...over on Raw." More boos from the crowd.
Heyman addresses the Royal Rumble match in which Brock Lesnar defended against Bobby Lashley. Lesnar took the All Mighty One to Suplex City. Heyman mocks Lesnar's loss at Reigns' hands, bragging about Reigns smashing Brock Lesnar while also boasting that he's been protecting Brock Lesnar from Roman Reigns. He informs us that Reigns offered him a "hand of forgiveness..of love..of the family, the hand of the bloodline, the hand of acknowledgement and I handed Roman Reigns that WWE Championship and he smashed Brock Lesnar right in the face with it and because of Roman Reigns Bobby Lashley pinned Brock Lesnar and because of that, Bobby Lashley is your WWE Champion. (Which means) you all have to acknowledge there will be no title versus title, champion versus champion match at WrestleMania." Heyman addresses Brock again, telling him that he'll be acknowledging Reigns at WrestleMania and this is how it's done: "I, Paul Heyman, acknowledge you Roman Reigns as my Tribal Chief."
Heyman gives Oklahoma City a chance to shine and demands they acknowledge their tribal chief. Lots of boos when, what the actual fuck? Goldberg is back. Again. The crowd flips out with a huge Goldberg chant as McAfee freaks out in the usual Pat way. Goldberg gets in the ring and states he acknowledges Roman Reigns...as his next victim, to which the in-house crowd pops big. Goldberg challenges Reigns to a championship match at the Elimination Chamber--the match that never happened at WrestleMania two years ago. Remember, the Elimination Chamber is in the KSA this year and the KSA really, really, really love Goldberg. Two weeks from tomorrow at 12pm is the Elimination Chamber from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Singles Match: Ricochet w/ Cesaro vs Ridge Holland w/ Sheamus

It's Ricochet's turn to get a new theme. Sheamus & Holland are out prior to the break, and Ricochet & Cesaro make their entrance post break. The ref sorts the men out and we're ready to start this match. Holland starts off strong with a big scoop slam. Ricochet is slow to rise on the canvas so Holland stomps his hand. McAfee and Cole praise Holland's performance at the Royal Rumble last Saturday. Meanwhile Holland executes a slow, methodical offensive style that consists of powerful slams to ground the high-flyer as well as slowing the pace to reserve his strength. Ricochet gets one smack of offense in, sending Holland to the outside. Ricochet attempts a suicide dive and is swatted out of the air like a fly. Cesaro and Sheamus begin to argue at the ringside, distracting Holland and allowing Ricochet to pick up the short win.
Your Winner, Ricochet!

We head to break and totally don't have a tag match coming up...oops, typed too soon.

Tag Match: Ridge Holland & Sheamus vs Ricochet & Cesaro

We return from break and, surprise, this is a tag match now. Sheamus gives Ricochet the Ten Beats of the Bodhran before bringing Ridge in for a middle-rope leg drop across Sheamus' knee. Ricochet starts his comeback sequence early on, dropping Sheamus before covering with a springboard moonsault for a close two. Ricochet hoists Sheamus up, looking for his old finisher but fails to connect. Cesaro hits the ring and after a brief tussle, Holland puts away Cesaro to pick up the win after a very short match.
Your Winners, Ridge Holland & Cesaro!

Singles Match: Jimmy w/ Jey Uso vs Erik w/ Ivar

The SmackDown tag team champs, the Usos, are out first. We head to a break yet again and upon return, the Viking Raiders Experience Machine of War make their way out. Erik and Jimmy jockey for control but Erik takes an early lead. Big slam by Erik. Erik looks for a top rope maneuver but Jey causes a distraction. Ivar attempts to dive off the steel steps and take out Jey, but Jey sidesteps it. Jimmy uses the distraction to hit an Uso splash and pick up the win in, what, 75 seconds?
Your Winner, Jimmy Uso!

Singles Match: Aliyah vs Natalya III

We're reminded that Aliyah is still undefeated as she takes on Natalya, again, in what's becoming a weekly tradition. We have a commercial break prior to the match. Aliyah has her new "Aliyah 3:17" shirt on--poking fun at the record-setting 3.17 second win over Natalya. Nattie's rocking new ring gear. Aliyah attempts a roll-up right out the gate but gets nothing. Aliyah takes a second to scream/brag and Natalya punishes her for it, taking her into two corners and pummeling Aliyah with rising knees and forearms. Aliyah counters a lift with a roll-up but Nattie kicks out at two. Aliyah whips Nattie tot he corner and ascends the turnbuckles, hitting a top-rope Hurricanrana--she does it very uniquely, you should see it. We're reminded that Aliyah lasted 23 minutes in the Rumble. Aliyah goes for another cover after dropping Natalya with a beautiful wheelbarrow stunner! Natalya takes the lead back with a discus clothesline, paying homage to her father Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart (and our dearly departed dark leader). Natalya and Aliyah battle outside of the ring. Aliyah whips Natalya into the barricade at the ref's 8 count then slides in, picking up the win via count out.
Your Winner Via Count Out and Still Undefeated, Aliyah!

Drew McIntyre Returns to SmackDown!

We cut backstage and find Drew McIntyre passing Shotzi Blackheart as he prepares to make his way out to the ring. We head to break ahead of this segment. When we return, Cole throws us back to Day 1 last month. In the clip, we get to watch Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss beat the crap out of Drew McIntyre, using a steel chair wrapped about his neck and a steel ladder to smack it. Drew returned at the Rumble, weeks ahead of schedule, and eliminated both Moss & Corbin before destroying them outside the ring. Drew starts us off by reminding us of what we just saw--that he was injured--and that doctors told him there was no way he could make the Royal Rumble. He states he told the doctor to kiss his ass--quite rude--then did rehab as often as his body could in order to get back in action. He states "those idiots Corbin and Madcap tried to end my damn career" and, on cue, here comes Happy Corbin.
Corbin addresses the Rumble and states that yes, McIntyre eliminated them, but then questions if it was worth McIntyre risking his whole career "by being thrown out like a bag of garbage by Brock Lesnar. You failed, Drew." He continues to taunt as Madcap Moss sneaks into the ring. Without looking, Drew raises his sword behind him--catching Moss off guard. He holds Moss at blade point and threatens to cut Moss' throat if Corbin interferes or Moss attempts to flee. Someone call the police! McIntyre asks for a joke. Moss asks, "What does a criminal and the main event of WrestleMania have in common?" The punch line: "they both get off 'Scot'-free!" Moss cackles and McIntyre drops him with a Claymore. He then tells Corbin, who remains on the ramp, that he's going to make Corbin's life hell every single week and this is just the beginning.

Backstage: WWE Officials Adam Pearce & Sonya Deville, Sami Zayn, and Natalya

Sami Zayn approaches the duo and asks about his Intercontinental Championship match that he's been waiting on for over two months. Deville and Pearce tell him he'll get his shot in two weeks--on SmackDown, not at the Elimination Chamber due to Zayn's lack of safety in the KSA. Natalya shows up and complains about Aliyah and gets a submission/"dungeon match" next week on SmackDown.

Singles Champions Contendership Match: Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura w/ Rick Boogs vs Jinder Mahal w/ Shanky

Boogs makes their usual entrance, much to the delight of the in-house crowd and Pat McAfee, who goes so far as to hum the lead rhythm during their entrance. We head to break and this contendership match is up next! After break, and after Mahal's entrance, we get Sami Zayn on special commentary, our bell and get the action started right as Jinder and Nakamura lock up. Mahal with a kick to the gut and a clubbing forearm to start us off. Highlights include Mahal countering two Kinshasa's, one with a sidestep followed by a big boot and the latter intercepted with a big forearm. Mahal slows the pace and executes powerful, slower strikes to Nakamura when he's not manipulating joints with working holds. On commentary, Zayn does his usual babbling. Nakamura starts his comeback sequence about two minutes in, powering out of a rear hold with elbows and a step-up Enziguri. Nakamura with a roundhouse followed by a sloppy Kinshasa, then pins for the quick win.
Your Winner, Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura!

Progressive Match Flo: Women's Royal Rumble

Tonight's Match Flo is a quick highlight from the WRR in which Naomi eliminated Sonya Deville. Charlotte Flair threw Naomi out but she used her hands to prevent an elimination--until Deville ripped her hands out from under her, causing Naomi to fall to the floor and be eliminated.

Backstage: WWE Officials Adam Pearce & Sonya Deville and Naomi

Naomi angrily wants another shot at Deville. Sonya states they could have a match next week, but Naomi has a title shot against Charlotte Flair. Naomi doesn't believe Deville but Pearce steps in and makes the title shot official. Naomi states "this keeps you safe for now" and we end our segment.

Backstage: Natalya, Xia Li and Aliyah

When asked backstage about informing Aliyah of their dungeon style match next week, Natalya states she'll tell Aliyah right now...but Xia Li exits the locker room, scaring Natalya of.

Tag Main Event Match: Big E & Kofi Kingston vs Los Lotharios

Kofi and Big E make their way out and, for the second week in a row, they're referred to by their names and not The New Day moniker--yet they come out to the New Day music and video/tron. We head to break ahead of this main event match. When we return, Los Lotharios make their way out. The cousins ready up as do we. Big E and Angel start. Angel dives and misses Big E. Big E tags in Kofi and goes to all four, allowing Kofi to hit a running kick off his back. Kofi goes for a cover then tags in Big E. Kofi runs off the ropes, leap frogs Big E and crashes into Garza, covering. Kofi breaks the count at one as he (and the ref) realize he's not the legal man. Big E makes a cover but Angel kicks out. Kofi takes the tag in as does Humberto. Carrillo takes control off a Garza distraction. The in-house crowd starts a New Day chant as Los Lotharios use quick tags and effectively cut the ring in quarters. They successfully contain Kofi in their corner for a lengthy stretch and use a surprise attack to knock Big E off the apron. The battle spills outside and Kofi looks for a dive off the apron--and eats a Superkick right to the face! We head to break.
Upon returning from the break, we find Los Lotharios still in control of Kofi. Kofi looks for the hot tag but Angel drops him and looks for a tag. Humberto comes in and lays out Kofi with a scoop slam. Los Lotharios slow the pace as they effectively continue to keep Kofi isolated...until Kofi counters a top rope moonsault with a lifted-leg dropkick to the chin! Big E gets the hot tag and Angel comes in on a tag of his own. Big E plants Angel with a pair of belly-to-belly suplexes, follows it up with the Big Splash, and starts up a hot New Day chant with the crowd. Angel puts an end to his momentum with a backstabber. Humberto's still down at ringside and Angel has no one to tag in. Big E tags in Kofi and they work together to execute an Electric Chair double-team, covering for a close two! Humberto makes the save, dodges an attempted suicide spear from Big E then dives off the top, wiping out Big E at ringside! Los Lotharios use a quick tag to hit a double-team of their own--an Electric Chair hold from Angel and a Missile dropkick from Humberto! Kofi breaks out of the count and fights both Lotharios for a few moments. Angel with a Superkick followed by a Wing Clipper attempt. Big E recovers and makes the blind tag in! Big E and Kofi work together to hit a double-team Big Ending/Splash combination to pick up the win!
Your Winners, Kofi Kingston and Big E!

SmackDown Debut: Ronda Rousey Chooses a WrestleMania Opponent!

We start with yet another video package, filled with clips and still photos, highlighting the Women's Royal Rumble from roughly when Ronda arrived until she won the Rumble. We get clips of her eliminating multiple Superstars, including the Bellas. SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair makes her way out, preceding Ronda Rousey, as the Queen wishes to see the Rowdy one's decision in person. We head to our final break.
When we return, WWE Official Sonya Deville is in the ring with Flair. Deville announces that Lynch has informed Deville that Ronda Rousey has chosen Becky Lynch as her opponent for WrestleMania. "With that being said, after you beat Naomi in your championship match, you will be in need of a WrestleMania opponent." She gives Flair the chance to choose who she wants to fight at WrestleMania. Flair cuts a promo bragging about her dominance since 2015. "What has Ronda been doing? Playing video games? farming? Oh, she had a baby, congratulations Ronda." Flair goes on to state that she'd be worried for Ronda if she didn't choose Becky "because mom versus mom" is the easier road. Flair claims she is the main event of WrestleMania "so if Ronda wants to choose the other champion, the under card, be my guest because Number One doesn't talk about Number Two." She then asks the crowd who she should pick.
Flair states she'll pick someone who isn't there, and announces she'll choose Sasha Banks. She states WrestleMania will be the best and worst day of Banks life and she'll have a contract waiting for her. Finally Ronda Rouse makes her way out to a big pop.
Rousey enters the ring and gets on the mic after making pouty faces at Flair. The pouty faces are back. Shit. Rousey soaks in a big cheer before speaking. "Guys, you love to talk about me, don't you? But last time I checked, I won the Royal Rumble and I get to pick who I main event WrestleMania with. But you were right about one thing, Charlotte--being a mom changed me so much. It changed my perspective, like I didn't fly halfway across the country (in a blizzard) with my baby to have a chat." She states she's there because she's in the business of kicking ass and Charlotte is owed an ass-beating of the ages. The crowd starts chanting for Ronda Rousey as Flair glares and stares. Rousey continues, stating that Flair is not "special, you were just first. I'll see you at WrestleMania, bitch!" She drops the mic and makes angry faces at Flair.
Flair, as should be expected, accepts the challenge and hoists her title up. "This title is my baby and she's prettier than yours!" Ouch! The crowd boos at the burn and Rousey takes off her leather jacket. Deville attempts to de-escalate. Deville attempts to de-escalate the situation. Deville tells Rousey that Deville is the boss. Deville attempts to attack Rousey but Rousey takes her down, locks in the arm bar, and makes Deville tap out as we end our program. So...Rousey apparently has two title matches at WrestleMania? We'll find out more soon enough.

In Closing

And that concludes it for tonight's episode. Have a great weekend, stay warm, stay frosty and stay safe out there, Rajahmaniacs. See you all Monday Night for Raw.
