7/15 WWE SmackDown House Show Results from Poughkeepsie, NY
- The advertised card for the show was changed a lot as it was originally suppose to be Kofi vs Dolph for the WWE Title. Then last week on the Mid Hudson Civic Center's website it was changed to Kofi vs Kevin Owens for the WWE Title, Reigns vs McIntyre and Bayley vs Alexa for SD Woman's Title. Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan & Finn Balor we're also advertised on the WWE and Arena's website but did not appear. Due to the "Wild Card Rules" Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton Were all on Raw to compete in a Cross Branded 10 Man Battle Royal for the #1 contender to face Brock Lesnar at Summerslam for the Universal Title in which Heyman announced at the beginning of Raw. Some fans including me saw the news online. Balor also wrestled Samoa Joe on Raw. The card changed throughout the night as the show happened.
1) Aleister Black defeated Andrade (w/ Zelina) with the Black Mass Kick.
2) Matt Hardy, Apollo Crews and Chad Gable defeated The Authors of Pain and Bo Dallas when Hardy pinned Dallas with a Twist of Fate. AOP called for real competition and Heavy Machinery answered the challenge.
3) Heavy Machinery defeated The Authors of Pain with The Compactor.
4) SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley retained over Liv Morgan, Ember Moon and Mandy Rose in a Fatal 4 Way. Bayley pinned Rose after hitting a Flying Elbow Drop.
- Elias came out with his Guitar for a song but he was interrupted by SmackDown Tag Team Champion Xavier Woods and his trombone. They both began to sing Guns n Roses Knockin on Heavens Door and the crowd sang along. Elias got up and attacked Woods which led to a match.
5) Xavier Woods defeated Elias with the Flying Elbow Drop. Elias took the mic after the match and started insulting the people of Poughkeepsie until Kevin Owens ran in and delivered a Stunner for a huge pop. They are starting to build Owens up as a top face on the blue brand.
6) Ali defeated Buddy Murphy with a Tornado DDT from the corner.
7) Asuka (w/Kairi Sane) defeated WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Billie Kay (w/Peyton Royce) via the Asuka Lock.
- It was announced that Tonight's Main Event would be a Champion vs Champion Match for the WWE Title between Kofi Kingston and Nakamura.
8) WWE Champion Kofi Kingston retained over WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in the Main Event that went about 15 mins. Kofi won with the Trouble In Paradise. Only the WWE Title was at stake.
- Overall A solid show regardless of the card changing and no appearances because of the Raw wild card rule but I knew there was a chance of this happening anyway. The Mid Hudson Civic Center was about half full.
