WWE Monday Night Raw Live Results (5/3/2021): ThunderDome III, Yuengling Center, Tampa, FL

Last Week, on Raw...

We open directly with a video package that recaps the events from last week, in which Braun Strowman had to defeat Drew McIntyre in order to be added to the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania: Backlash. We watch as Mace and T-bar cost Drew the match last week and listen as Lashley complains about the change to the match, yet full of confidence that he'll leave as the champ.

Backstage: Adam Pearce, Sonya Deville, MVP, Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre

Adam Pearce and MVP are discussing who Lashley will face tonight. Adam Pearce suggests that they flip a quarter to determine who Lashley faces. MVP snatches the coin and literally checks both sides to make sure it's not a "trick coin." Up walks Drew in a black tank, asking if MVP really just did check the coin before Strowman walks up. Adam Pearce lets Strowman call the coin flip, and it lands on tails--so Lashley will face Strowman later tonight in a non-title match. McIntyre and Strowman have words before we cut to the ring.

Pre-Match Verbal Sparring: AJ Styles & Omos vs the New Day

Adnan Virk, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves welcome us to the ThunderDome as AJ Styles and Omos make their way out, their Raw Tag Team Championship belts in hand. Adnan comments that there have been recent returns of a few tag teams, making the division even better. Styles gets on the mic and hypes their status as the tag champs. Omos gets on a mic, too. Styles points out that Omos' first match was at WrestleMania and they won the titles in it. AJ Styles says its time for the "Raw Tag Team Championship WrestleMania Rematch--that's a mouthful," then looks into the camera and tells us all that he has a very important question to ask us: "Did you miss us?" He then brags about their exploits of R&R since WrestleMania. Styles reminds us that he is now a Grand Slam Champion. He goes on but is interrupted by the New Day, who make their way out to loud cheers from the audience. We head to the first break of the night....or we don't. Despite Virk's comment, we head back to the arena. The New Day are on mics up the ramp and start to walk down, to the ring, joking for a moment. Kofi adds, "all jokes aside, all jokes aside, lemme tell your tall ass somethin'...we are eleven time champions. Because every time we (fall) we get back up and...win our titles back. Every time!" KOfi goes on to mention his KofiMania moment, in which he won the WWE Championship with his kids present. He reminds us that the next day, he went on to Raw--even though he was a SmackDown star--because that's what champions do. They show up and square up. Kofi mocks the champs for taking a month off to rest and relax. Omos gets on the mic, angrily talking to the New Day. He tells them to shut up, taunts them to get in the ring, and is ready to Hulk Smash them. Xavier gets one last comment in, promising that they're about to become the first ever 12-time WWE tag champions. Again, Virk attempts to send us to a commercial as Omos yells at the New Day for several seconds before we actually do go to commercials.

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: AJ Styles & Omos(c) vs the New Day

When we return from the break, we start with AJ Styles and Xavier Woods in the ring. As soon as the bell rings, AJ tags in Omos. Omos towers over Xavier. Omos easily drops Xavier like a doll, then pulls him up by the scruff of his neck and hammers a huge forearm into Woods' back. Omos throws Woods into the New Day corner, telling Kofi to tag in. Kofi does, and spends the first half minute dancing circles (not literally) around Omos as he attempts to keep out of the giant's reach. He feints going in twice before attempting a side leg kick. Omos catches the leg and drops Kofi. Omos whips Kofi into the ropes and Woods makes a blind tag. The New Day work together, running off the ropes and looking to double team Omos--but the big man easily runs over and double clotheslines them. Styles asks to be tagged in and is. Styles is rolled up immediately by Woods but escapes. Woods sends Styles outside and follows it up with a suicide dive to Styles at ringside! Kofi makes the tag immediately preceding the dive. He eyes Omos, runs up the turnbuckles and dives out of the ring and onto Styles as we go to break!
Back from the break. The New Day are keeping Styles in their corner, and use several quick tags so they can take turns coming in and stomping on Styles in the corner as the ref counts and warns. They stop only before he reaches five, and continue to do this for about a minute. Kofi comes in and changes things up. A pin attempt is followed by a left wrist lock. Styles fights to his feet and punches Kofi, but Kofi with a leaping knee strike for a close two. Styles struggles to get free. Woods comes in but can't contain Styles and back in comes the big man Omos! Omos easily runs them both over. He picks up Woods and lifts him high, grinning as he drops to a knee and hits a wicked backbreaker on Woods! Omos picks Kofi up and holds him far above Omos' head before laying him out with a wicked Spinebuster. Omos takes down Woods again as the ref seems to be giving them a lot of lateral. Styles calls to be tagged in and hits the Phenomenal Forearm. Woods takes it all and is pinned.
Your Winners and STILL Raw Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles & Omos!

Backstage: Sonya Deville with Charlotte Flair and Adam Pearce

Deville starts the segment by telling Charlotte Flair that she understands and will look into it. Adam Pearce walks up as Flair walks off and asks her what that was about. She tells him not to worry about it and gets on her cell, presumably to watch AEW Dark, and Adam sets her in place. Pearce reminds her he's in charge and we go to commercials.

Video Promo: The Eva-lution

We get an interesting video package of a sports car as Eva tells us she's back and ready to start the Eva-lution.

Backstage Interview: Kayla Braxton with Bobby Lashley & MVP

Kayla asks MVP and Lashley about their thoughts on McIntyre and Strowman. Only notable thing: Lashley gets on the mic, tells us he's not a normal man, more than a genetic freak (Steiner?) and is confident that tonight, the Strowman Express will be derailed tonight by the Almighty WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.

Backstage: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

After a video package highlights the events of last week's MizTV--when the New Day pelted Elias, Ryker, Miz and Morrison with tomatoes--we return backstage. Elias and Ryker have a big basket of tomatoes and spot the New Day sitting in the back, icing up. Elias states that they're going to give the New Day a taste of their own medicine and both men let loose with tomatoes...until Elias pauses, eyes like a deer in headlights, as the camera turns and we find that Randy Orton was an innocent victim in this drive-by fruiting. We go to break.

Match: Charlotte Flair vs Dana Brooke w/ Mandy Rose

Flair and Brooke start off exchanging moves. Dana takes an early lead with a headscissors take-down and a dropkick. Flair takes control of her former protege (per the announcers). Flair with a big boot and a pin attempt. Flair with a big boot along the apron and a pin attempt. Brooke rolls out to the outside as Flair yells "I thought I taught you better than this!" Brooke comes back in the ring and catches the Queen off guard momentarily, hitting another dropkick before Flair immediately takes control back. Brooke sent to the corner. Flair attempts to pick her up in the corner but Brooke floats over and attempts to roll Flair up. Flair angrily stomps on Brooke as the ref warns her. Brooke starts to fight back again. The camera pulls off Flair a she seems to either adjust her tights (or get a weapon, like Ric?). Brooke with the handspring back elbow. Brooke with a big rights and drops the Queen with another, getting a close two. Flair uses the corner to climb up to her feet. Dana charges the corner one time too many and Flair counters with a diving chop block to Brooke's leg mid-flight. Impressive! Flair slaps on the Figure Eight and Brooke taps quickly.
Your Winner, Charlotte Flair!

After the Match

Mandy Rose hits the ring to guard her fallen partner, attacking Flair and sending her out of the ring. Sonya Deville then makes her way out--and we go to break!

In the Ring: Sonya Deville and Charlotte Flair

We return from the break and find both women in the ring with a mic. Sonya announces that as a WWE official "equal" with Adam Pearce, she's decided to let Charlotte Flair make a proposal. Flair expresses anger at Asuka and Ripley for another title match. Flair points out that she was the one to defeat Asuka at WrestleMania and break her streak; she was also the one to defeat Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania last year and take her NXT Women's Championship. She goes on about both women, then tells Sonya that Deville made the right decision to bring Flair back and undo the decision to suspend Flair indefinitely. Flair says that love her or hate her, the division and the WWE Universe need her. Flair states she's happy to oblige but she wants an opponent worthy of Flair. Flair then tells Sonya needs to make a courageous decision and add Flair to the title match at WrestleMania: Backlash. Sonya thinks over it as Flair encourages her and says "be fair to Flair!" Deville states that Flair made a compelling argument and goes on to point out that Strowman was added to the men's championship last week, so it's only fair to add Flair to the women's championship match.
Rhea Ripley comes out on the mic. She calls the situation absolute crap. She tells Flair that nobody wants to see Flair in the Asuka/Ripley match. She tells Flair she's a spoiled brat and no one likes her. Ripley reminds Flair that she can and already has beaten Asuka. That's no problem. But adding Flair and making it a triple-threat match isn't right. See: Lashley's reaction last week. Out comes Asuka! Asuka tells Flair that she's tired of her bullcrap, and Sonya warns her about her language. Asuka mocks Flair's crying about wanting a title shot and lays into her. Flair responds that the two of them (Ripley & Asuka) get thrown one curve ball and they lose their minds. Flair tells Ripley that Ripley may walk in as Raw Women's Champion but Flair will walk out as champ. Ripley confronts Deville, asking her why she added Flair and pointing out that Flair hasn't earned the opportunity. Flair attacks Ripley from behind and sends her outside the ring; Asuka attacks Flair from behind and sends her outside the ring before celebrating in the ring.

Backstage Interview: Kayla Braxton with Humberto Carrillo

Braxton first sends us to clips from the past two weeks in which Sheamus and Carrillo have clashed multiple times. Carrillo tells Kayla that he's not afraid of Sheamus, and he's going to keep challenging him and challenging him and--Sheamus attacks Carrillo from behind. Sheamus destroys Carrillo backstage, slinging him into equipment carts and nearly beating his shirt off him. He tells Carrillo to cheer up, there's always next week.

Backstage: Sonya Deville & Adam Pearce

Pearce comes up, angry at Deville for adding Flair to the title match. He tells her that this goes beyond abuse of power and reminds her that they agreed to make decisions together. She apologizes and states she couldn't find him and had to make the call on the spot.

Backstage Interview: Kayla Braxton with MVP

For the second time (or is it third?) tonight, MVP is interviewed and complains about Braun being added to the championship match next week. MVP suggests perhaps Lashley and McIntyre work together to take out Strowman so they can have the match they wanted and deserved.

Match: John Morrison w/ the Miz vs Damian Priest

The Miz makes his way out first in a dark suit, matching shirt and tie, accompanying his partner for this single's match. We go to break. When we return, the Miz and Morrison get on the mic with their usual schtick. Morrison calls himself moist. The tomato fight last week is mentioned. The Miz goes over his impressive resume and accolades, pointing out the disrespect he's been shown. He calls himself a first-time ballot Hall of Famer and compares himself to Austin, Hogan, and the Rock. Finally out comes the Archer of Infamy, Damian Priest! The match starts and Priest takes control early, giving Morrison no room to breathe as we go to break. When we return, Morrison has taken control. Morrison mounts and punches Priest, then attempts a pin. We're shown that, during the break, Morrison took control with a springboard roundhouse. Morrison puts Priest in a headlock. Priest slowly gets to his feet. Morrison pummels Priest's back and shoulders with forearms then runs off the ropes. Priest pops Morrison up, letting him crash face-first to the mat. Both men rise and exchange rights. Priest switches to kicks, delivering two to the gut. Morrison fires back with a kick of his own. Priest returns to kicking. Priest goes for a roundhouse but Morrison ducks and staggers the big man with a kick of his own. Priest takes control and whips Morrison into the corner, hitting a splash. Priest goes for a Broken Arrow but Morrison attempts to wiggle out, causing Priest to call an audible. Priest goes up top. Morrison distracts the ref, and the Miz distracts Priest. Morrison quickly bypasses the ref and hits a Spanish Fly off the top! Morrison attempts offense one last time and covers Priest, but the ref is distracted by the Miz. Priest shuts him down with a Hit the Lights and picks up the win.
Your Winner, Damian Priest!

Tag Team Match: Lucha House Party vs Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander

We return from break and this match is under way. Gran Metallik and Cedric Alexander clash, with neither man taking control until Cedric hits a Michinoku Driver on Gran Metallik. Cedric holds Metallik's foot and tags in Benjamin. Benjamin with a pair of ruthless body slams and an overhead back drop as Benjamin tosses him easily, and quite high, overhead. Benjamin attempts a cover but only gets two. Benjamin tags in Cedric. Cedric takes Metallik to a corner and punches him down, then stomps on him as the ref warns him. Benjamin is tagged in and Metallik makes the tag to Lince. Dorado finally enters this match. Dorado charges right into a wicked right clothesline from Benjamin. Benjamin hammers Dorado with knees in the corner. Benjamin whips Dorado into the ropes. Dorado attempts to counter by leaping up for a Hurricanrana. Benjamin uses his core to instead convert the attempt into a bomb. Pin attempt for two. Dorado manages to hit a Tornado DDT that lays out Benjamin. Cedric enters the ring to prevent a pin; Dorado tags in Metallik and dives over the ropes to lay out Cedric on the ringside floor. Metallik quickly runs up the turnbuckles, walks along the top rope, and hits an elbow drop to pick up the win.
Your Winners, Lucha House Party

After the Match: Breaking Up is Hard to Do

Cedric gets on a mic and yells at Benjamin. He reminds Benjamin that they went from world tag team champions to where they stand now. Cedric claims that the Hurt Business didn't kick them out, they kicked Benjamin out for being the weak link. Cedric angrily implies Benjamin is too old and, unlike Cedric who is in the prime of his career, Benjamin's is near its end. Cedric tells Benjamin their team is through and storms off.

Backstage: Adam Pearce, Sheamus & Mansoor

Pearce is in the back with Mansoor, officially signing him to the Raw brand. Sheamus comes out, talks trash, and issues an open challenge to Mansoor--but not for the belt, as per usual. When Sheamus walks off, Mansoor and Pearce mention things change quick and Mansoor better get used to it.

Backstage: Drew Gulak and Angel Garza

Backstage, Garza is walking around with a rose. Gulak makes a crack about not being able to score, then challenges Garza to a match. Garza threatens to shove the rose up Drew's Gulak, if you know what I mean, and we go to break.

Match: Angel Garza vs Drew Gulak

As soon as the bell rings, Garza lays into Gulak. Garza with quick strikes, a snap suplex, and a stalling back-breaker. Gulak fires back by chopping Garza in the neck. Gulak uses his technical skill set to keep a sleeper locked on Garza despite Garza's repeated attempts to wiggle or squirm or flip out of it. Gulak whips Garza but Garza dodges and takes Gulak down with a dropkick. Garza pummels Gulak in the corner as the announcers are shocked at the ruthless aggression shown by Garza. Garza picks Gulak up and hits the Wing Clipper, ending the short match.
Your Winner, Angel Garza!

After the Match: A Man of His Word

After the match, Garza makes Gulak smell the rose. Garza shoves it down Gulak's tights and presumably in his butt, then runs and kicks Gulak in the butt.

Backstage: R-K-Bro

Riddle scoots up to Orton and is pumped up, reminding Orton that they're undefeated as a tag team. Orton reminds Riddle they've only had one match...then suggests they go out there and do it again. Riddle is excited but Orton "zips the lips" and Riddle shushes. They'll be in action next.

Tag Team Match: Elias & Jaxson Ryker vs R-K-Bro

After a replay of Garza kicking a rose up Gulak's butt (I swear, I'm sober right now) we finally get to it. Out first is Team R-K-Bro. Orton fist bumps Riddle and seems actually into this. Elias and Ryker come out, and we'll start with Orton and Elias. Elias is looking more in shape than usual. Orton jumps at the bell and battles Elias into the corner with a flurry of fists until the ref warns him off. Elias uses it to gain momentum enough to battle out of the corner and tag in Jaxson Ryker. Ryker gets a few moves in before Orton tags in Riddle. Riddle leaps up on Ryker, looking for a modified Guillotine. Ryker dumps him off. Riddle leaps up on Ryker's back again, looking for the Bro To Sleep. Ryker escapes and tags in Elias. Orton calls for Riddle to tag him in as Elias takes control, dropping the Original Bro with a leaping Knee as Ryker holds him. Elias attempts a pin. Elias imitates Pete Dunne by attempting to manipulate the fingers of Riddle. Elias tags in Ryker, who takes a knee in the ring--and Elias suplexes Riddle down and across Ryker's knee. Ryker attempts a pin, but gets two. Ryker pulls Riddle into a grapple, punches his gut, then performs a rope-assisted slingshot suplex. Orton extends his arm far over the rope, eager to get back in. Riddle starts to fight back, throwing rights and a side kick. Ryker attempts to shut it down but Riddle hits the Ripcord knee strike and both men are down! Both make hot tags and here comes Orton and Elias! Orton clotheslines Ryker out of the match and chases Elias. Elias slides out the ring, grabbing Orton's head and dropping his neck across the top rope. Orton isn't happy about that, and heads outside. Orton slams Elias onto the announcer's desk before throwing him in the ring. Orton strikes Ryker outside the ring then goes in. Orton sets up for the Spike DDT. He looks at Riddle and smiles, letting Riddle tag in. Orton hits the Spike DDT as Riddle climbs up top. Elias attempts to come in from behind, but Riddle warns Orton--and Orton immediately leaps up, grabbing Elias behind him and hitting the RKO. Riddle with the Bro-Ton and the pinfall for the win!
Your Winners, R-K-Bro!

Backstage Interview: Kayla Braxton with Drew McIntyre

Kayla asks Drew about Mace and T-Bar, then his thoughts on the triple-threat match. Strowman walks up and tells Drew that he heard MVP talking about Drew teaming with Lashley to take out Strowman. Strowman reminds Drew that he beat him last week and he's going to walk out as the champion. Drew adds "Maybe, maybe not...but for now you just need to leave."

Non-Title Match: United States Champion Sheamus vs Mansoor

Out first is Sheamus. After a break, we return and out comes his opponent, Mansoor! The bell rings and Sheamus takes control initially. The impressive Mansoor doesn't stay down and fights back. Mansoor with a wrist lock. Sheamus picks Mansoor up, sits him on the top rope, then clotheslines Manoor off the ropes. Mansoor's body bounces off the apron and to the floor hard. Sheamus takes him inside and does a half camel clutch briefly before positioning Mansoor on the apron. Sheamus starts the Ten Beats of the Bodhren. Sheamus slows the pace with working holds. Mansoor attempts a springboard but Sheamus counters. Sheamus is bleeding a small bit from the forehead. Sheamus sets Mansoor up for the Brogue Kick. Humberto Carrillo hits the ring, causing a disqualification as he beats Sheamus out of the ring. Carrillo follows up with a suicide dive, but Sheamus recovers in the ring and lays out Carrillo and Mansoor with Brogue Kicks.
Your Winner by Disqualification, Sheamus!

Alexa's Playground

Alexa is with Lily, on her swing set. She says that wherever Lily goes, trouble tends to follow. Bliss says that Lily told her about someone coming with beady little eyes, but that's a dark secret. She tells the camera not to blame her for what happens, then sings a semi demented version of a children's song but grows slower at the end, as she sings "Lily, what did you make me do?" She then bursts out in smiles and we get a close up of the doll's face--the same animation from last week.

Women's Tag Team Championship Match: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler(c) vs Lana & Naomi

When we return from a break, our competitors are ready. Lana starts with Jax, throwing a few fists. Jax brings in Baszler right away, and Baszler struggles to mount offense against Naomi. Lana comes in, diving off hte top onto Baszler. We're reminded that Lana was a ballerina in Russia as a child (okay.) Naomi and Lana hit a double team slam. Lana and Naomi go for another double team but Jax makes the save. Lana rolls up Baszler for easily five seconds but Reginald causes a distraction. By the time the ref notices, Baszler's escaped. Lana dives out onto Jax outside the ring. Back in, Lana quickly succumbs to Baszler's Kirifuda Clutch in a very, very short match that didn't see Jax in action for more than a few seconds.
Your Winners and STILL Women's Tag Team Champions, Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler!

Backstage Promo: MVP with Bobby Lashley

As this is MVP's 47th backstage promo tonight, I'll keep it short: MVP says Lashley is a bull and there's only room for one bull.

Non-Title Main Event Match: WWE Champion Bobby Lashley w/ MVP vs Braun Strowman

After a break, we get straight to our main event match! Lashley is ready to go in the ring as Braun Strowman makes his way out, looking even more fit and swoll than last week. After Graves reminds us that Lashley lost the United States Championship in a triple-threat match, during which he wasn't submitted or pinned, we finally get this main event under way. The brell rings and both men lock up, pushing and shoving around the ring. Lashley forces Braun into the corner. Lashley tries to wrap up Braun from behind, but Strowman blocks it. Lashley attempts a shoulder tackle and Strowman shrugs it off. Lashley with a neckbreaker and pin attempt but Strowman tosses him off at a one count. Lashley posts up, looking for a spear. Strowman quickly crawls backwards, gets to his feet as Lashley runs and one-handed chokeslams the champ! Lashley, frustrated, rolls out the ring where MVP gives him some advice. As Lashley tries to enter the ring, Strowman kicks him off the apron. Strowman finally lets Lashley in the ring and attempts a rush. Lashley takes control, and floors the Monster Among Men. Lashley with a working neck hold, trying to wear down Strowman. Strowman easily escapes it. Strowman pulls Lashley up into a Scorpion Death Drop-styled position, reading to club Lashley when Drew McIntyre comes out! Strowman slides out to confront McIntyre. Lashley uses the distraction to attack Strowman from behind, then extends a fist, encouraging Drew to team up with him against Braun. We go to break.
Back from the break and we find Lashley briefly in control. Lashley whips Strowman into the ropes and leap frogs him. Strowman grabs Lashley but Lashley counters and drops the big man on his back, covering for a two. Drew is now on commentary. In the ring, the Champ drapes Braun over the middle rope as the ref warns Lashley. Lashley hammers Braun with forearms, then whips him into the ring post. Lashley pushes an elbow into Braun's face, keeping him seated in the corner. Lashley pulls Strowman up for a snap suplex and a two-count. Lashley grabs Strowman by the head, pulling the forehead and jaw in different directions. Lashley again batters Braun into the corner, and again the ref warns him. Lashley pulls Braun to a knee and punches him. He walks off, makes a diamond shape with his hands but DDP doesn't come out. Lashley with a lariat. Lashley keeps Strowman in the corner, climbing up onto the middle turnbuckles and punching down onto Strowman's head. Lashley takes time to gloat and Strowman dips under Lashley, puts him on his shoulders and nails the Electric Chair back drop. Strowman crawls to a corner to compose himself, and Lashley does the same. Strowman strikes first, splashing Lashley in the ring. Strowman with a suplex toss to the champ sending him halfway across the ring. Strowman pulls up Lashley and hammers him down. Lashley pulls the Almighty One up again; Lashley with a standing switch and tries to put the Hurt Lock on Strowman. Strowman's thick, powerful arms refuse to give and he sends Lashley outside. Strowman follows and runs for the Strowman Express. Lashley ducks and Strowman crashes into McIntyre. Both men exchange heated words outside. Drew continues to distract Strowman as he enters, allowing Lashley to put down the Monster and pick up the win!
Your Winner, the Almighty WWE Champion Bobby Lashley!

After the Match

Lashley celebrates, unaware that McIntyre has him lined up. Drew streaks across and nails Lashley with a Claymore! We end our program with the Highlander standing tall over his future opponents. We're informed that next week will feature Drew McIntyre versus Bobby Lashley ahead of their title match a week from this Sunday.
