WWE NXT 2.0 Quick Recap for June 28, 2022

Matches Tonight: Six (approx. 53 minutes)
  • Tag Team Contendership Match: Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade vs Katana Chance & Kayden Carter. Perez & Jade pulled the upset win. 8:03-8:17pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Giovanni Vinci vs Ikemen Jiro. Vinci easily dispatched the former "Jacket Time" team member. 8:26-8:29pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Indi Hartwell vs Kiana James. James pulled the upset with a dirty pin. 8:49-8:54pm EST.
  • Six-Man Tag Match: the Diamond Mine vs Joe Gacy & the Dyads. The DM was represented by Roderick Strong and the Creed Brothers, our NXT tag champs. After more discord amongst the members of the Diamond Mine (thanks, Roddy Strong), Gacy picked up the win. 9:01-9:16pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Xyon Quinn vs Sanga. An okay match that saw both men get a few minutes to shine, with Sanga picking up the win ultimately. 9:23-9:29pm EST.
  • Singles Match: NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose vs Nikkita Lyons. Nikkita Lyons won via DQ when Toxic Attraction attacked her en masse. 9:39-9:50pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • New NXT UK Tag Champions Briggs & Jensen: Yep, the put the NXT UK tag straps on these lads after defeating the teams of Mark Andrews & Wild Boar, Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz, and Die Familie. They were confronted by Pretty Deadly, former (two times ago) NXT UK tag champs, setting up a potential future title defense as these "fighting champions" will be doing double-duty in NXT and NXT UK. 8:36-8:43xpm EST.
  • Nikkita Lyons Returns: The fan-favorite NXT Superstar returned tonight, facing Mandy Rose in singles competition.
  • RIP Troy "2 Dimes" Donovan: We had a previously-recorded video in which Tony D'Angelo and Stacks are shown, tossing a body into the river. Tony talks to 2 Dimes' (released due to a minor policy violation a few weeks back) jacket, stating that Donovan tried to take a shot at D'Angelo's thrown, leading to his "dismissal" via sleeping with the fishes. 8:59-9:01pm EST.
  • Money in the Bank Reminder: It's SATURDAY, not Sunday!
  • Next Week on NXT: The Great American Bash: Toxic Attraction defend their tag titles against Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade. Bron Breakker defends the NXT Championship against Cameron Grimes. NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes defends against Grayson Waller. NXT Tag Team Champions the Creed Brothers vs fellow Diamond Mine members Damon Kemp & Roderick Strong.
  • Ending Segment: Cameron Grimes confronted NXT Champion Bron Breakker in the ring ahead of next week's title defense. Grimes was a pseudo-heel in the segment, lamenting that Breakker can lose the title and go up to the main roster whereas Grimes won't have that chance. Grimes then criticized Breakker for being rejected by the Baltimore Ravens, and accuses him of nepotism. Breakker was shocked by Grimes' heel turn, reminded him of the last time someone tried to bring his father into things (Gacy, he lost), and the two ended us with a talking run-over as Breakker threatened to send Grimes to the moon, adding "you're not gonna like what you find when you get there because I'm going to spear you in half." Yep, he said it; nope, I don't know what that means. 9:59-10:06pm EST.
  • Coming Soon to NXT: Jordan Devlin returns to NXT as JD McDonagh
Commercial Break Tracker: Ten, totaling 32 minutes*:
  • Break 1: 8:10-8:13pm; Break 2: 8:21-8:24pm; Break 3: 8:33-8:36pm EST.
  • Break 4: 8:44-8:48pm; Break 5: 8:56-8:59pm; Break 6: 9:08-9:11pm EST.
  • Break 7: 9:19-9:22pm; Break 8: 9:31-9:34pm; Break 9: 9:42-9:46pm EST.
  • Break 10: 9:52-9:55pm.

*For reference, the industry standard average is 16 minutes of commercials & 44 minutes of programming per hour of broadcast air time. For the second night in a row, the WWE was right on par with the national average.
