WWE NXT TAKEOVER: IN YOUR HOUSE RESULTS (6/13/2021)
The official pre-show for tonight's show opens up with a shot inside the Capitol Wrestling Center. The camera pans around and settles in front of our hosts, which is a two-man team consisting of Sam Roberts and Sports Illustrated journalist Justin Barrasso.
The duo talk about their excitement level for the show this evening and then they delve into the lineup as the official match graphics flash across the screen.
We shoot to the parking lot where we see a limo pull up. Out comes "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase Sr. with some guys carrying a briefcase containing the new Million Dollar Championship, which will be awarded to the winner of tonight's Ladder Match undercard bout. A video package airs to hype the history and return of the title.
Now we are shown footage of a chaotic situation that broke out in the parking lot between Kyle O'Reilly and Johnny Gargano, with NXT General Manager William Regal breaking them up. The hosts hype the Fatal-5-Way for tonight and then introduce a video package for the NXT Women's Championship showdown set for this evening.
After the video package, Sam and Justin break down the match as split-screen "earlier today" footage is shown from the parking lot of the arrival of Raquel Gonzalez and Ember Moon.
From there they transition to a sit-down from earlier today with the NXT North American Champion and NXT Tag-Team Champions to talk about their six-man showdown tonight against Legado Del Fantasma.
The hosting duo talk briefly with the interviewer from the sit-down with the aforementioned champs and then kick it to another "earlier today" sit-down with their opponents -- Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.
We see a special commercial for the official NXT TikTok account and then the focus shifts to the Mercedes Martinez and Xia Li match scheduled for tonight's show.
They again hype up tonight's Fatal-5-Way main event for the NXT Championship. They then look at the Tale of the Tape for the match and give their insight and predictions. From there, they send us to the video package advertising the bout.
The main show video package starts us off and then we shoot back into the CWC where we get a live performance followed by the introduction of our host for tonight -- Todd Pettengill. He tells us to give it up for the largest crowd in the CWC and welcomes us to NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
Bronson Reed & MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee) vs. Legado Del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza)
From there we head down to the ring as MSK's theme plays and out comes the NXT Tag-Team Champions Wes Lee and Nash Carter. Out next is there partner for tonight, the NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed.
As the babyface trio settle into the squared circle for our opening six-man contest, their music fades down. The entrance theme for their opponents, the heel trio of Legado Del Fantasma plays, and out come Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza.
The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with our first match of the evening. We see some quick action and then an immediate tag. Carter and Wilde are flying all over the place and the Legado Del Fantasma member begins getting the better of the exchange.
Wilde tags in Santos, who tells Lee to tag in Reed. He obliges. Escobar then backs up and tags in Mendoza and tells him to go beat up Reed. He begrudgingly enters the ring and runs right into a prepared NXT North American Champion, as Reed goes to work on him immediately.
We see Reed tag out and it is at this point that Legado Del Fantasma begin a lengthy run in the offensive driver's seat, with the heel trio taking turns dominating the action on the members of MSK isolated in the ring until finally Reed gets the hot tag.
The NXT North American Champion hits the ring and begins going to work, taking out any-and-everything that moves. He takes out Wilde and Mendoza and then tells Escobar to get in the ring and face him like a man. Before he does, Reed is chop-blocked from behind.
Escobar now does enter the ring and he hits a Michinoku Driver for a close near fall. Reed tags back out. Carter is in now. Wilde tags in for his team. Lee tags in and MSK hits a nice double-team move on Wilde that nearly ends this one, however Wilde manages to stay alive.
The camera pans over to Santos Escobar. He notices the NXT North American Championship at ringside. He picks it up and lets out a war cry, only to turn around into a big splash from Reed that puts him through the NHL style glass wall protecting the fans. Action picks up in the ring and then Reed tags in and comes off the top with a big splash for the pinfall victory.
Winners: Bronson Reed & MSK
Todd Pettengill Old-School Segment
We shoot backstage to see host Todd Pettengill getting us geared up for our next match, which is Mercedes Martinez and Xia Li. He talks about their rivalry kicking off at the Mae Young Classic and then pulls out a VHS tape to pop in a giant box, small-screen snowy, black-and-white TV, until he is informed of the invention of digital video.
Mercedes Martinez vs. Xia Li
From there, we head back inside the CWC where Mercedes Martinez makes her way out and down to the ring as the commentators sing her praises. She settles into the ring and then out comes her opponent Xia Li with a cool grand entrance.
The bell sounds and here we go. Early on we see Martinez jump off into the offensive lead, taking it to Li as the crowd cheers her on. One swift knee from the vicious striker switches the momentum to her favor.
Li goes to work on Martinez for a bit until we see the momentum shift once again. This time Martinez nearly finishes off Li, with immediate replays being shown afterwards. The action spills out to the floor where Boa gets in Martinez's face, but she side-steps him and dumps Li on her head on the floor.
Out of nowhere Li cuts Martinez's momentum off dead in its' tracks and with one big kick she knocks her out. She makes the cover and picks up the victory to keep her win-streak alive.
Winner: Xia Li
After The Match: The Action Continues ...
Once the match wraps up we see highlights and then Xia Li calls for a steel chair from Boa at ringside. She goes to take out Martinez with it but Martinez avoids it and blasts Boa in the dome with a chair shot. She turns to Li and yells at her and then whacks her in the knee with the chair. Li rolls out of the ring and yells in pain.
The lights in the building flicker but Martinez says she's not scared and says to watch. She nails Li with another chair shot. Mei Ying stands up from her throne at the top of the stage. Martinez dares her to come down and fight her. She slowly makes her way down the ramp as the two lock eyes.
Martinez walks up to close the remaining distance between them and then is grabbed out of nowhere by the throat. She uses a chair shot to free herself but is grabbed by the throat again and thrown off the ramp into the cage at ringside.
Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher With A Message
We shoot backstage to see Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher. They stare through the camera and deliver a message vowing destruction in their scheduled match at this coming Tuesday night's episode of WWE NXT.
Million Dollar Championship Ladder Match
Cameron Grimes vs. LA Knight
The video package for the scheduled Ladder Match with the returning Million Dollar Championship on-the-line airs now to get us ready for our next match of the evening here at In Your House.
Once the package wraps up, we shoot back inside the CWC where "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase's theme hits and the WWE Hall of Fame legend emerges. He is joined by two others who are carrying the returning Million Dollar Championship in a glass case.
They settle into the ring and his music fades down. The theme for LA Knight plays and out he comes, climbing a ladder at the top of the entrance ramp as part of the production set before making his way down to the ring for this highly-anticipated ladder match.
Knight poses in the ring as the commentators sing his praises as the perfect man to hold what the Million Dollar Championship represents. His music dies down and the country-rap theme for Cameron Grimes plays. He heads to the ring and gives DiBiase a big hug.
The new Million Dollar Championship belt is hung and raised above the ring. The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this bout. Knight immediately takes it to Grimes coming out of the gate. He grounds the fun-loving babyface and taunts him, only for him to pop up like nothing happened and take him out and taunt him right back.
Both guys trade back-and-forth shots and then we get our first appearance of a ladder being used as a weapon, as Grimes just avoids having his head taken off by a ladder from Knight. Now both guys have ladders and are jousting with them like American Gladiators in the ring now. Grimes takes Knight out and sends him to the floor.
He grabs another ladder from under the ring but is taken out from behind by Knight, who shifts the momentum back in his favor. He whips a ladder already laying in the ring into the dome of Grimes at ringside, before taunting the fans inside the CWC and putting the boots to a grounded Grimes.
Things build to another offensive run from Grimes, culminating when Knight took back over by hitting a crazy leaping neckbreaker, landing on top of a ladder laying under the bottom rope in the corner of the ring. Ouch! We see replays of that as Knight heads out to the ringside area to grab what the commentators are calling a super-sized ladder, bringing it into the ring.
It is used and forgotten quickly as seconds later, Grimes grounds Knight in the ring and then retrieves the giant gold ladder at the top of the entrance ramp. He brings it to the ring but is stopped during his climb. The action spills to the floor where Knight takes over. Knight builds a playground of ladders on the entrance ramp.
We see a cool spot where they leap off a production set piece at ringside for a high-spot. Knight then shoves Grimes off the giant gold ladder in the ring, and he crashes through the ladder playground on the ramp. Knight heads up and pulls down the title. Knight wins.
Winner and NEW Million Dollar Champion: LA Knight
Todd Pettengill & Hit Row, Karrion Kross/Pete Dunne Pull-Apart
After a quick commercial break, we see Todd Pettengill backstage when Hit Row confronts him and hocks some of their merchandise. We then shoot to another segment where we see Karrion Kross and Pete Dunne being pulled apart by a ton of officials backstage after an apparent altercation.
NXT Women's Championship
Ember Moon vs. Raquel Gonzalez (c)
The video package airs to get us ready for our next match of the evening, which is the co-main event of NXT TakeOver: In Your House and will feature the NXT Women's Championship on-the-line.
From there, Ember Moon's theme hits and the challenger emerges as the commentators sing her praises and talk about her potential to become a two-time women's champ for the black-and-gold brand.
Moon settles into the ring and her music fades down. The theme for Raquel Gonzalez plays and the NXT Women's Champion emerges and heads to the squared circle with a purpose.
The lights dim and the spotlight hits the ring as the ring announcer handles the final pre-match ring introductions for this our NXT Women's Championship co-main event of the evening.
The bell sounds and we're off-and-running. We see the larger Gonzalez immediately jump into the offensive lead. The action spills out to the floor briefly where Gonzalez continues to assert her dominance before bringing the match back into the ring.
Gonzalez continues to dominate the action in arrogant fashion for several additional minutes until Moon finally begins firing up. She hits a crazy code red for a near fall and now she is firmly in control of the bout. She locks her submission finisher on Gonzalez but Gonzalez is helped to the ropes to break the hold.
She heads out to the floor for a breather afterwards, but Moon hits the ropes and executes a crazy dive, taking out Gonzalez. More interference from Dakota Kai at ringside helps shift the momentum back into the favor of the champ, as Gonzalez goes back to work on Moon, looking to finish her off and retain her title.
Moon hangs alive, however, avoiding being finished and then countering a big spot attempted by Gonzalez. She goes for a roll up but Gonzalez escapes and cuts Moon's momentum short. She is looking frustrated at her inability to finish Moon off, which the commentators point out on the broadcast.
We see Gonzalez go for a delayed suplex but Moon reverses it while upside-down in mid-air into a modified Eclipse. She leaps off the middle rope with a flying codebreaker. She heads to the top-rope to follow-up and hits the Eclipse. She makes the cover but Kai puts Gonzalez's foot on the ropes when she wasn't looking.
Shotzi Blackheart comes sprinting from the back, charging at Dakota Kai and starting a brawl between the two that heads up the ramp and to the backstage area. Back in the ring, we see Moon stalking Gonzalez. She grabs her looking for her submission finisher again, but again the champ avoids it.
Moon heads to the top-rope and hits a crazy tornado DDT on Gonzalez on the entrance ramp. She takes a minute getting the lifeless Gonzalez back into the ring to try and pin her, and when she finally does, Gonzalez recovers enough to kick out. Moon looks to hit the Eclipse again but Gonzalez avoids it and muscles her up for a power-bomb for the pin.
Winner and STILL NXT Women's Champion: Raquel Gonzalez
NXT Great American Bash On July 7
We return backstage to host Todd Pettengill for another old-school segment and then we move to a commercial advertising the NXT Great American Bash on July 6 on USA Network.
The commentators then run down some of the action scheduled for NXT on Tuesday and then we shift gears and get ready for our main event of the evening.
NXT Championship Fatal-5-Way
Kyle O'Reilly vs. Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Pete Dunne vs. Karrion Kross (c)
The video package for tonight's Fatal-5-Way headline attraction airs now to get us ready for our NXT Championship main event here at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
Once the package wraps up, we see Johnny Gargano in some "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels-inspired gear walking backstage as he comes across the Blackheart-Kai brawl from the last match still in progress as a ton of officials are still trying to break them apart.
Gargano settles into the ring and then Kyle O'Reilly's music plays and the former Undisputed ERA member makes his way to the ring, looking ready for action.
Pete Dunne's theme hits now and "The Bruiserweight" is introduced. He emerges and slowly heads down the entrance ramp looking all business.
The theme hits for Adam Cole and the former NXT Champion makes his way down to the ring as the commentators talk about how dead set he is on recapturing the title that used to belong to him tonight.
Finally, with all of the challengers in the ring, the lights turn to the trademark black-and-white look and feel utilized by the top dog on WWE's black-and-gold brand and then the NXT Champion himself emerges. Karrion Kross is led to the ring by Scarlett. It's almost main event time!
The bell sounds and we see Dunne and Gargano powder off to the floor on one side, while O'Reilly and Cole do the same on the other, leaving the champion alone in the ring. Finally Dunne emerges in the ring and Kross takes him out, dumping him on the floor.
O'Reilly hits the ring now and he and Kross go back-and-forth while the rest of the challengers in this match continue to battle on the floor. O'Reilly drops down to the mat and locks a leg submission on the champ, however Kross powers his way out, dumping O'Reilly, who rolls out to the floor.
Gargano is now in the ring going to work on Kross as the commentators sing the praises of the man known as Johnny TakeOver. He is faring the best against Kross thus far, however he too is ultimately overwhelmed by the power of the champ.
Now Cole hits the ring and takes his chances with the champ as the fans cheer him on. He fares well also but is eventually yanked down and pulled out to the floor by Dunne and Gargano and then fed back to Kross inside the ring.
Finally everyone ends up back in the ring together and we go from spot-to-spot as all the guys get submissions locked in only to be pulled from behind by someone else into another submission.
Cole heads up the ramp so Kross heads up after him. He goes for a power bomb on the ramp, but Dunne and Gargano hit the scene and a bigger brawl breaks out, culminating with a big spot that sends some of the guys through the front door of the production set up at the top of the entrance ramp.
Back in the ring, Cole tries to seize the moment by going to work on an already softened up O'Reilly. Cole dominates him until finally Gargano re-enters the ring. He knocks O'Reilly into a seated position in the corner and then hangs Cole in a Tree of Woe on top of him. They remain there a while as he is cut off coming at them by Dunne.
Dunne and Gargano brawl back-and-forth and finally they hit the corner and lawn-dart Dunne into O'Reilly and Cole for a near fall. The commentators talk about the fans being split inside the CWC as to who they seem to be cheering on.
The action continues outside the ring where we watch as one-by-one Kross dumps and slams each challenger over the ringside barricade and into the crowd. He takes Gargano back in the ring and tries to finish him off, however Johnny TakeOver hangs in there to keep this match alive.
All of the guys end up back in the ring trading nearfalls one right after the other, only for each time to see the person hang on. The fans anticipation and the excitement in the voices of the commentators picks up as the end seems near. Cole and O'Reilly end up hitting a double power-bomb on Kross on the announce table, which doesn't break, making it look even more violent.
The fans break out in "Undisputed! Undisputed!" chants until they re-enter the ring and all four challengers stare each other down and then start slugging it out as the fans explode in the CWC. Each four take turns hitting their finishers for near fall attempts and close submission wins, only for them to be broken up each time. The fans erupt with "This is awesome!" chants.
Kross gets the Kross-Jacket on Dunne, who fades and then comes back to life, bending the fingers of Kross to escape. Gargano blasts Dunne as he re-enters the ring but then he too is locked in the Kross-Jacket by the champ. Cole kicks Kross to break it up and O'Reilly hits the ring as well.
O'Reilly comes off the top with the knee but his follow-up pin is broken up by Cole, who cleans house of everyone else with super kicks before O'Reilly locks Cole in a leg submission and yanking with all he's got.
Kross recovers while the hold is applied and he hooks O'Reilly in the Kross-Jacket. Two submissions are on at the same time until finally Kross' wins over. He retains in an excellent main event. Really, really excellent match.
Winner and STILL NXT Champion: Karrion Kross
After The Match: William Regal Says It's Time For A Change ...
Once the match ends, we see highlights and then Kross and Scarlett celebrate in the ring. From there we follow NXT General Manager William Regal through the backstage area and into the parking lot. He says it's been 7 years since he became GM of NXT and he's never seen so much bedlam.
He says he thinks it's time for a change while looking emotional and then he walks off to end the show.
