WWE Raw Viewership, Rating Take Huge Hit With Return of NFL Monday Night Football

-- The return of NFL's Monday Night Football took a huge dent out of WWE's Monday Night Raw audience with the wrestling show slipping to an average of 1.670 million viewers - down big from last week's 1.849 million. The damage was just as bad in the 18-49 demographic, with Raw falling from a 0.52 rating a week ago to 0.43 this week, representing one of the lowest ratings in that demo in history. The football game between the Raiders and Ravens generated 7.566 million viewers on ESPN but it was also simulcast on ABC where it drew a gigantic audience of 14.459 million. Raw finished #6 on cable in the key demo, trailing the football game, the pre-show, the post-show, the countdown to the game and Sportscenter after it.

-- WWE tried to counter the return of the NFL by scrapping a tag team title match and instead moving forward with a WWE Title bout that was originally scheduled for Extreme Rules. They also teased and delivered on a Big E cash-in, all of which actually did move the needle a bit as seen by the three hours below where the third hour outdrew the first two in a scenario that is almost unheard of.

  • Hour 1 - 1.672 million
  • Hour 2 - 1.634 million
  • Hour 3 - 1.703 million
