This weeks taped RAW starts with video from last week's RAW. Nexus competed in singles matches. Wade thought it was an opportunity for redemption. Anyone who didn't win would be exiled from the group. Members of Nexus continued to win their matches until Darren Young decided he would face Cena after all the abuse he wrought on Young. Young fought very hard, but after the STF, Young had to tap and it was over. Nexus surrounded the ring, but they let Cena go free. Darren begged for his life, but they beat him down. Skip hit a hard clothesline after the stomp down, then Gabriel hits his beautiful 450 splash.
Sheamus out to the ring, strap over his shoulder. Video of Orton in the ring last week. Sheamus out, but Orton took him apart. Orton was counted out, beat Sheamus with a chair, then ran back to nail Sheamus with an RKO. Orton was all pumped up. In the Sheamus looked pensive. Sheamus said one thing about Americans is that their children are spoiled brats. They'll cry and cry until they get what they want. Look at all these spoiled runts around here. Out to ringside. Sheamus ripped apart two little girls, calling them boys. Then to another little boy, ripped him apart before going back into the ring. He says there's another bigger spoiled child, bigger than these kids, Orton. He didn't win at SummerSlam, he came out and attacked him. We all love the attack and chanted RKO. The "RKO" chants. He's going to burst our bubble now. Despite what Orton did, he's not the WWE Champion, he is! Huge heat for Sheamus. He and the GM haven't been on the same page of late, but a very prestigious PPV is coming up, The Night of Champions. He urges the GM to not give into Orton for what he did. He should be punished, locked up! Put in prison! He should never get another opportunity for his Title, not now, not ever.
Ding-Ding! Of course Cole is getting heat for reading this. "Sheamus, believe it or not, I have no problem with you. You've found a way to retain the WWE Championship and I feel you should be rewarded. Therefore tonight I'm going to do something unprecedented. Gentlemen, would you please bring out the throne?" Cole leans back and waits for the throne to come out. "Sheamus, I'm not going to decide your next challenger, you are. You will watch a series of matches. Watch them, observe them and see who impresses you the most. At the end of the evening you will come to the ring an announce your opponent for The Night of Champions."
Sheamus was thrilled by this and feels a little vindicated. Sheamus thanked the GM, he's really going to enjoy himself tonight. Cole says these matches begin right now.
Edge out to the ring first, through a cloud of smoke. Edge stares at Sheamus as he heads for the ring and Sheamus heads for his throne.

R-Truth choked on a bottom rope, then Edge nails a cross body to R-Truth's back as he's still on the rope! Edge only gets two.
Edge gets R-Truth's arms wrenched back, knee into his spine. Cole thinks Sheamus will be virtuous picking his opponent. R-Truth tries to fight back, but they both hit cross bodies at the same time! Both down. Both up, but R-Truth in control with clotheslines. He gets the fans behind him, but then into a reversed whip, but floats over. Big hip toss, but he show boated too much and Edge took him down.
Edge sets R-Truth up for the spear. Cole says something about it being 17 years of Edge doing this. R-Truth jumps over, but then is able to reverse out of R-Truth's scissor kick and hit his spear for three.
Winner - Edge
Video of the end of the match. Edge grabs a mic and tells Sheamus he can sit up there on his stupid throne and gloat about those he's beaten a 9 time Champion, the man who led RAW to victory at SummerSlam, until he's beaten the Rated R Superstar. Edge up to Sheamus' face. Edge tells him he hasn't beaten anybody. Sheamus didn't looked impressed.

Khali tries to kick Jericho in a corner, but Khali caught up top. Jericho back onto the knee. Jericho locks on the walls of Jericho. Khali taps out.
Winner - Jericho
Jericho stares up at Sheamus on the stage. Jericho calls for a mic and climbs up on a corner. Jericho asked if Sheamus saw that. He hopes he doesn't listen to Edge. Edge isn't the first Undisputed Champion, Jericho is. Edge isn't' the man who just made a giant tap out. More importantly Edge isn't the best in the world, Jericho is. So it's axiomatic that Sheamus picks Jericho to face for the Title. Does Sheamus understand what Jericho's saying right now? Khali on his feet and chops Jericho off the corner.
Video of Tarver beating Bryan last week because of Miz and Alex Riley. Alex and Miz beat the heck out of Bryan after. Bryan then ate a SCF onto the case at ringside.
Backstage Josh is with Cena. He asks about what happened with Miz last week. Cena says it was petty and classless, plain and simple. He doesn't regret picking Bryan over the Miz at SummerSlam. Anyone who saw Bryan knows he was fantastic. It was Miz who almost cost them the match. He showed his true colors by showing his ego. Then he showed them again last week in attacking Bryan for no reason. Since Miz won his MITB, he has a bigger mouth and attitude problem. Tonight he shuts it with an AA.

Video of Jillian's head hitting the mat from a variety of angles. Melina poses with her strap until Lay-Cool on the tron. They call to her, then talk about how they messed with her at SummerSlam. They said they did it for a reason. They'll be at the 900th RAW. Not only will they be there, they have an offer Melina simply can't refuse. It's flawless. Of course they don't say what the offer is.
Backstage Josh is with Miz in a locker room. Does he have a response to Cena? Miz says he nailed Bryan in the back of the head, but what about Cena? He put Team WWE at risk when he chose Bryan over him. Cena wants to talk about egos. What about Miz's ego? After SummerSlam match, Sheamus was beaten down, had to be carried out. Did he cash in and walk out of SummerSlam Champion? No he was thinking of Team WWE. The least Cena could have done was talk to him backstage, but no, he had to embarrass him in front of the entire world. He hates being embarrassed. Doesn't sit well with him. He'll beat down Cena. His actions will be consequences. He doesn't expect Sheamus will pick him, but he can pick Sheamus anytime he wants. Who knows, he may pick him tonight.

Nexus out to the stage. Sheamus says hello and to what does he owe the honor?
Ding-Ding! Cole gets even more heat for his attitude. "I requested Nexus come out so I could let them know I was highly impressed with their performance last week. As for the ban that says Nexus can no longer compete for titles, that ban has been lifted."
Wade smirks, walks over to Sheamus. Sheamus to his feet and stares back. Wade says to consider their truce over. They keep staring, but Sheamus looks a bit worried, pensive.

WWE Rewind - The Divas in the ring and the Bellas got the win. The ref, Santino was faced in the ring by Tamina who seemed pissed, but then obviously has the hots for Santino who acted like a little boy confused. Cole said something about needing a swim suit like Santino if it works like that.

Backstage Josh asks Sheamus about leaving during Orton's match. Sheamus cuts him off and says he made his decision and doesn't need to see anymore of Orton. In just a few minutes he'll announce it to the entire world from that ring.

Sheamus in the ring. He says he's been t'inking about it for a while now and despite what happened last week, he's still a warrior. The Celtic Warrior. He has a huge announcement tonight. He's not going to wait for The Night of Champions defend his Title, he's going to defend it right now. So get him a ref, please. Ref gets into the ring. Sheamus says he saw a lot of great competitors tonight, a lot of Superstars who are worthy of a championship match. But the only reason he became the WWE was because of opportunity. You can't succeed without opportunity. So despite what he's seen tonight he's decide to go into left field. A Superstar who’s never had a WWE Championship match before. A man who's never had an opportunity. A man who could be the next WWE Superstar. So his next opponent is… Zack Ryder! Zack comes out on stage and says he appreciates the offer, but he made the biggest mistake of his life. Everyone knows they're looking at the next WWE Champion. Woo, woo, woo, you know it! Ryder walks down to the ring with his cocky Swagger. King asked Cole if Ryder deserves this. Cole says he deserves it "more than this guy does!" Zack Ryder into the ring. There's 58 pounds between these two guys! The fans are not impressed.

He knows how impressed we are and all that. But now he'd like to take the time to reference some WWE Rules and Regulations. See, he doesn't have to defend his Title for another t'irty days. That means, at The Night of Champions, this Champion is taking the night off. He might just take the whole month off. He might go back to Ireland, visit the family, take the car around, enjoy himself.
Wade Barrett comes out with a big grin on his face. Sheamus looks cranky. Wade, but in Sheamus' face say legally speaking he doesn't have to defend his Title for another thirty days, but the fact is that he's the winner of Season 1 of NXT. Sheamus asks, so wha'? Wade says so that means he gets a Title opportunity at the PPV of his choice. He's choosing to take it against him at The Night of Champions. Sheamus yells, off mic, that Wade can't do that. Wade says Sheamus' next Title defense is against him.
Ding-Ding! Cole gets even more heat. The GM of RAW has upheld Wade Barrett's request. "Sheamus will defend against Barrett at The Night of Champions, but that's not all. Earlier tonight Sheamus, you spoke of opportunity. I'm giving an opportunity to not only Wade Barrett, but to four other deserving Superstars. That means at The Night of Champions, Sheamus will defend the WWE Championship in a Six Pack Challenge." Sheamus starts screaming at this.
"Sheamus will not only face Wade Barrett, he will face Chris Jericho…" Jericho's music and he comes out with a smirk on his face. He stomps down to the ring, watching Sheamus and Wade the whole time.
"Randy Orton!" Orton comes out to the ring and Sheamus looks sullen as Orton smirks the whole way down. Sheamus doesn't take his eyes of Orton, at all.
