WWE NXT REPORT (01/08/14) by Nicholas Sebastian
This week's edition of NXT comes to us from the studios at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. On the commentary team we have Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Alex Riley.
SUMMER RAE VS BAYLEY
Summer Rae comes down the entrance ramp accompanied by her best friend Sasha Banks. The two of them act like they get along swimmingly as they showboat to the fans in the arena.
Bayley makes her entrance with Natalya by her side. The announcers are quick to mention a number of things that have happened between Bayley and the BFF's, also knows as the Beautiful Fierce Females.
The bell sounds and this contest between the two divas gets underway. Summer Rae goes to the center of the ring and entices Bayley for a hug, saying that the two of them are both wearing headbands.
Bayley is hesitant because the crowd is shouting no. She goes up to Summer Rae and grabs her headband, throwing it to the mat. As the blond reaches to pick up her tossed accessory, Bayley jumps over with a sunset flip and manages a two count on her opponent.
Summer Rae tries to exit the ring through the ropes but Bayley pulls her back in. The blond diva crawls to the corner and then nails her distracted opponent with a kick to the jaw after the referee called for the clean break. Summer Rae grabs Bayley by the hair and brings her to the corner, ramming her head into the top turnbuckle numerous times.
Bayley is groggy in the corner as Summer Rae puts her boot to the neck, choking her. Summer Rae showboats a bit and talks to Sasha Banks on the outside. Seizing a chance, Bayley puts Summer's head into the top turnbuckle a few times.
Summer Rae staggers around and then gets thrown to the ropes. Bayley bends to try and deliver a back body drop but is thwarted by a knee to the shoulder on Summer Rae's turnaround. Bayley charges her opponent only to be hit with a back kick to the gut, putting her to one knee. Summer Rae then plants Bayley face first into the mat, only getting a two count on the pin attempt.
Bayley gets picked up by the hair and is draped across the middle rope, Summer Rae choking her with her leg and showing off some gymnastics at the same time.
Bayley gets knocked off the rope with a bump from the rear and is pinned again, however manages to kick out at two.
Summer Rae gets behind Bayley and applies a straightjacket chinlock, immobilizing the arms and putting her knee to the back. Bayley gets to her feet and bends over, pushing Summer Rae back a few steps. A stomp on her blond opponent's foot breaks the hold.
Bayley ducks under a clothesline and hits two double ax handles on her charging opponent. Summer Rae makes it to the corner to recover, only to be met with a corner clothesline. Bayley comes off the ropes and delivers a back elbow to the jaw of a staggering Summer Rae. A cover and a pin attempt only gets two.
She goes to the second rope and nails another back elbow on Summer Rae, only managing another two count.
Summer Rae throws Bayley into the ropes and attempts a standing roundhouse kick. Bayley moves out of harm's way and connects with a belly to belly suplex. The referee counts three and Bayley gets the win.
WNNER: BAYLEY
We go backstage where Devin Taylor is interviewing Xavier Woods, the newest addition to the Raw roster. He's told that Kane will address him tonight, to which he says he welcomes something to do.
COLIN CASSADY VS AIDEN ENGLISH
Colin Cassady makes his way to the ring with determination, hoping to get retribution for the attack on him at the hands of Aiden English during their singing competition last week.
Aiden English comes out and demands his spotlight. He sings the same song he did a while back, all the way down the entrance ramp and into the ring.
The bell sounds and the two men lock up, the much larger Colin Cassady powering Aiden English into the corner. Cassady hits a few knees to midsection staggering English, then throws the drama king into the corner once again.
Cassady delivers a series of punches and elbows, spelling out the word "sawft" and finishing with a huge forearm to the back. He goes for the cover but is only manages to get a near fall.
Aiden English gets whipped into the corner but is able to move out of the way of his charging opponent. Colin Cassady runs into the empty turnbuckles and hits his head on the steel ring post. Aiden English nails a double ax handle to the back of the neck that sends his opponent to the mat.
Cassady is still down as Aiden English drops a few forearms to the top of the head and chest. A cover and a pin only gets a two count on his much larger opponent.
Aiden English gets behind Colin Cassady and applies a half nelson rear chin clock, all the while berating his opponent. He tells him NXT is his show and that no one steals his spotlight.
Colin Cassady gets to his feet all the while still in the rest hold. A punch to the gut gets him free and he throws Aiden English to the ropes. A back body drop on the turnaround tosses the drama king onto his back. Another whip to the ropes has English eating a high knee to the jaw, sending him down again. Cassady hits a jumping elbow drop to the chest and goes for the cover, just getting a two count.
Aiden English makes it to the ropes to recover from this onslaught, forcing the referee to push Colin Cassady away. On this distraction, English hits a kick to Cassady's knee that sends the big man down to the mat. Aiden English hits his finisher The Director's Cut and gets the 1-2-3.
WINNER: AIDEN ENGLISH
We go backstage again with Devin Taylor, this time interviewing "The Man That Gravity Forgot" Adrian Neville. Tyler Breeze interrupts them by calling Neville on his cell phone only steps away. Breeze facetiously apologizes for causing Neville's loss to Bo Dallas, but says he did it because he wants NXT to have a gorgeous champion like him, not an ugly one like Adrian Neville. A challenge is issued and a match is made between them for next week.
Xavier Woods comes out to the ring and awaits Kane to address him. The Director of Operations makes his entrance to his music and tells Woods it was his online petition that helped bring the Big Show back to WWE. He says the Authority hasn't forgotten this and was waiting for the appropriate time to punish him. He introduces his opponent, the Bulgarian Brute, Alexander Rusev.
XAVIER WOODS VS ALEXANDER RUSEV
The Bulgarian national anthem plays as Lana leads her charge to the ring. The bell sounds and Xavier Woods wastes no time in going on the attack. A punch to the gut and a flurry of shots to the head stun Alexander Rusev. The big Bulgarian throws Woods into the ropes but misses with two clotheslines. On the third turnaround, Rusev gets Woods onto his back and hits a huge Samoan drop. A quick cover only gets a one count.
Alexander Rusev gets behind a sitting Xavier Woods and puts a claw hold onto the left trapezius. He puts Woods onto the mat and hits a couple of elbow drops to the chest and follows it up with a couple of head butts. Another cover and a hook of the leg only get a two count.
Xavier Woods is still on the mat as Rusev stalks him, applying the claw hold on that same trapezius muscle once again. Woods gets to his feet and hits a few punches to the gut, breaking the hold. He then delivers some shots to the head and a head butt on the big man staggering the Bulgarian. Woods nails a flying forearm and a dropkick that sends Rusev staggering backwards into the corner.
The PhD candidate goes to the opposite corner and connects with the Honor Roll, a somersault followed by a short clothesline. He tries for his Lost in the Woods finisher but Alexander Rusev powers out of the maneuver and pushes his opponent to the ropes, nailing him with some double chops to the sides and sending him to the mat. Rusev locks in his Accolade finisher in the middle of the ring and Woods taps out quickly to the painful submission hold.
WINNER: ALEXANDER RUSEV
We're shown an interview with Kofi Kingston last week after his loss to Alexander Rusev. He says he made a mistake and underestimated him, and then challenged him to a rematch.
TYSON KIDD VS BARON CORBIN
The bells goes and the match gets underway. Tyson Kidd gets Baron Corbin in a quick side headlock but gets thrown to the ropes. Corbin floors him with a big shoulder tackle on the turnaround. Kidd gets thrown to the ropes again but manages a backwards baseball slide through his opponent's legs. Kidd tries to roll up Corbin in a schoolboy pin but the big man hangs onto the ropes preventing that and sending his opponent to the mat empty.
Tyson Kidd kips up and nails a back kick on Baron Corbin, only to run the ropes and be hit with a big elbow on the turnaround. Corbin goes for the cover but Kidd is able to kick out at two.
Baron Corbin brings Tyson Kidd to his feet and nails a punch to the forehead, sending his opponent down to the mat again. He pulls his Kidd up by the hair but is met with a chop to the chest. Corbin comes back by throwing Kidd to the corner, delivering a bunch of punches to the gut while immobilizing hes adversary's left arm.
The referee calls for the clean break and pushes Baron Corbin away. The big man runs the ropes and nails Tyson Kidd with a shoulder tackle. Corbin tries for another cover but only gets the near fall.
Corbin applies a rear chin lock while maintaining his knee to Tyson Kidd's back. The Canadian makes it to his feet but has his hair yanked and is thrown to the canvas. A reverse chin lock with all his weight behind it has Kidd struggling, but he manages to get to his feet again.
Tyson Kidd tries to get out of the rest hold with some elbows to the midsection but is countered with a knee to his own gut. Kidd goes to the corner and sits on the bottom turnbuckle, trying to recover. Baron Corbin charges but Kidd is able to sidestep him with a drop toe hold and make him eat an empty middle corner.
Baron Corbin goes towards Tyson Kidd near the ropes. Kidd goes to the apron then hits a kick to his opponent's head, staggering him. This is followed up with a couple of kicks to the legs and a dropkick to the head off the ropes, sending Corbin down to the mat. A cover only gets two as Corbin is able to kick out.
Tyson Kidd drapes Baron Corbin's neck on the bottom rope and puts a boot to his head, attempting the choke. He then jumps over the top rope and drops the leg onto the back of the neck, landing on the ring apron. He climbs to the top rope and hits a diving neckbreaker, getting the three count and the victory.
WINNER: TYSON KIDD
NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE ASCENSION VS HUNICO & CAMACHO
** NON-TITLE TAG TEAM TORNADO MATCH **
The rules of a tag team tornado match are as follows: no count outs, no disqualifications, and all four participants compete in the ring at the same time, with a victory only happening by pinfall or submission.
Hunico and Camacho come to the ring on their customized bicycles. The Ascension, Konnor and Viktor, make their way through a darkened arena lit by an eerie blue light.
The bell sounds and all four men rush each other, Hunico attacking Viktor and Camacho facing off with Konnor. Each pair of foes go to separate corners to continue their offense. Konnor gets the upper hand on Camacho, putting him in the corner and nailing a kick to the midsection. Hunico hits a series of shoulders to the gut on Viktor.
Camacho pushes Konnor into another corner, hits a few shoulders to the gut and then connects with a big chop to the chest. Hunico continues to dominate Victor by laying in a few chops to the upper chest and putting him in another corner as well.
Viktor battles out of the corner with punches and kicks, hitting an elbow to the top of the head that sends Hunico to one knee. Viktor goes for the quick cover but only gets a one count as Hunico is able to power out.
Konnor is fighting back on his own as well, hitting some punches and then putting Camacho face first into the top turnbuckle. Camacho goes down to a sitting position, his back against the bottom corner as Konnor lays the boots into his midsection.
Hunico makes it to his feet and hits a few chops, putting Viktor in the corner. He continues this offense mixing it in with a few punches to the head. Victor counters with a few kicks to the midsection and then turns it around, putting Hunico in the corner.
Lots of back and forth between all four participants in this match. Camacho, with the upper hand on Konnor, delivers a side suplex on the tag champ. Camacho nails a kick to the midsection and then delivers a series of double ax handles, putting Konnor onto his back.
Hunico and Viktor keep trading blows, neither one getting the advantage in the early goings of this match. They keep each other in the corner, giving each other punches, chops and the odd head smash into the top turnbuckle.
Konnor is pulled to his feet and tossed into the corner. The Ascension member fights out of there with some punches and then hits a side suplex on Camacho. Konnor stalks him in the corner and methodically lays into him with punches to the head and kicks to the midsection.
Camacho is whipped across the ring into the opposite corner. Konnor charges him but is met with an elbow to the head and then double boots to the face, staggering him.
Hunico manages to push Viktor away and goes for a quick roll-up, barely getting one on the Ascension member. Using his power, he lifts Viktor up and slams him with a modified powerbomb down again onto his back. Camacho by this time had climbed to the top rope and then comes down with a huge leg drop onto Viktor. A cover only gets two as Konnor is there to break it up.
The larger Ascension member is quickly dealt a dropkick by Hunico, sending him to the outside of the ring. Viktor goes to the floor as well, leaving Hunico and Camacho inside the ring. The two of them go to the outside to stalk the tag team champions.
Hunico quickly goes after Victor, while Camacho takes it up with Konnor, putting him face first into one of those customized bicycles parked near the entrance ramp. Both members of the Ascension get thrown back into the ring, with Hunico and Camacho continuing the offense on their respective opponents.
Both men put a tag champ into the corner and climb to the second turnbuckle, each hitting punches to the top of the head that the crowd in attendance counts out loud. Viktor and Konnor grab each of their opponents and give them powerbombs, putting all four men down on the canvas. Konnor and Victor try for the double pin but each of their adversaries are able to kick out.
The Ascension seem to be getting the advantage and start laying in with punches and kicks. Viktor goes to the outside and puts Hunico on the apron, delivering a series of elbows to the chest area. Hunico falls to the outside and gets his head smashed into that customized bicycle of his.
Inside the ring Camacho tries to go towards Viktor to stop him from continuing on Hunico. Konnor grabs him by the hair and tries for a punch to the head. Camacho stops him and connects with a couple of his own. He runs the ropes and right into a flapjack from Konnor. A cover and a pin attempt only get two.
Viktor and Hunico have made it back into the ring, the Ascension member still in control of the brawl between them. Hunico goes to attack Konnor but is pulled off by Viktor. Camacho gets thrown into the corner and is chased in by Viktor. The two of them trade blows, chops and punches to the head.
Konnor and Hunico are fighting on the other side of the ring, the bigger Ascension member staying in control. Victor pulls Camacho out of the corner with a front face lock and connects with a snap suplex, only getting a near fall of two on the pin attempt.
Hunico gets thrown into the corner as Konnor then goes to inflict more punishment on a fallen Camacho. The Ascension members doubleteam and whip Camacho right into his partner Hunico still in the corner. They whip Camacho into the opposite corner and try to do the same to Hunico. Camacho lifts Hunico over and onto the ring apron to stop his momentum then hits double boots to the face of a charging Konnor.
Camacho drops down in the corner to allow a climbing Hunico to hit a huge high cross body on both tag champs from the top rope. As the Ascension staggers to their feet once again, Camacho nails a double clothesline. Hunico connects with a dropkick on Viktor as Camacho does the same to Konnor.
Hunico runs to the ropes and jumps onto the second rope, springboarding himself with a moonsault onto both tag team champions. Camacho gets in there to help with the double pin but the Ascension are able to get their shoulders up.
Camacho gets Konnor in the Fireman's Carry and points at his partner Hunico to climb to the top corner. A huge Samoan drop to Konnor is followed up by a senton from the top rope by Hunico. A cover and a pin attempt are broken up at two by Viktor.
Hunico and Camacho charge Viktor and hot a double clothesline on him, sending the Ascension member to the outside. Both of them have their sights set on Viktor outside, ignoring Konnor recovering in the corner. Hunico hits both boots to Viktor's chest and Camacho runs and dives to the outside onto him. Viktor saw him coming and connects with a huge uppercut, sending Camacho down to the floor.
Konnor runs up behind a distracted Hunico and gets him in a full nelson, transitioning to a half nelson slam that stuns the Latino. Konnor calls out to Viktor and the two of them measure Hunico, getting ready for their finisher. They hit the Fall of Man and both Konnor and Viktor are in on the cover in one of their trademark poses. The referee counts three and the tag champs get the victory in the rubber match between these teams.
WINNERS: NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE ASCENSION (KONNOR & VIKTOR)
After the match, the Ascension raise their championship belts in a sign of victory as Camacho tends to his his fallen comrade on the outside near the entrance ramp.
