After yesterday’s much unexpected announcement of the UPN and WB Network mergers, there has been an overwhelming amount of media speculation. The question most wrestling fans are asking is what the future holds for WWE Friday Night SmackDown, even though it was very encouraging that SmackDown was mentioned in the merger press release.
However, Variety is now reporting "UPN has quietly worked out a deal to keep WWE's "Friday Night Smackdown" on the air for at least two more seasons." One industry source said that WWE workers were notified of the new deal last night.
