Smackdown! Report 3/31/06 Kansas City, Missouri

Smackdown begins with a recap of Randy Orton complaining about SNME and then showing what he did to Rey and Angle last week. It ends with all three wrestlers glaring at each other at the and of last week’s show.

Rey Rey bounces out of the stage and comes down to the ring. The crowd seems quite loud and happy to see him. He takes a mic and says that at WM his dream comes true when he wrestles for the title on the biggest stage of them all. He’s worked for this moment his entire life, but there’s someone who says he shouldn’t be there and calls him a charity case. This person also screwed him in his match last week. That’s Orton, so Rey calls him out. He calls Orton out to prove he deserves to be in the match at WM. He asks Teddy Long to come out and make the match.
Angle’s music hits and he comes down to the ring. Angle approaches Rey with a mic. Angle says that after Orton told Henry to put him through a table two weeks ago - he deserves Orton in the ring. Also, he will be beating Orton or Rey at WM to keep his title. Nobody beats the wrestling machine. Nobody beats Angle. Angle then asks Teddy to make the match Angle and Orton.
Orton’s music hits and he comes out grinning. On the stage he says the ladies in the ring have their panties in a bunch. He thinks it’s great that he got under their skin so bad. Angle and Rey start screaming that they each want Orton. Orton says it should be a handicap match - Orton against Rey and Angle. He asks who want to see him embarrass the paper champion - Angle, and the charity case - Rey. Orton says it won’t happen because he’s leaving. He needs to rest up for the match.
Teddy comes out and says he likes Orton’s idea. Orton bitches that Teddy the good guy is playing favorites. He gave Rey a shot at the title when he lost to Rey.
Angle says that he’s the one who deserves to face Orton.
Rey cuts in and asks Angle if he’s saying that Rey can’t beat him. Angle says Rey would be a formidable opponent.
Angle says nobody can beat him.
Rey reminds Angle of the 619 and other things last week.
Angle says he remembers and he also remembers the west coast pop that screwed up his match last week.
Orton jumps in and says the match should be Rey and Angle to see who can win, unless Angle’s too scared.
Angle says he’ll do it.
Rey says it’s every man for himself. Rey says he’ll beat Angle tonight and at WM.
Teddy says the match is set for Rey and Angle tonight. Teddy then turns to Orton and says he’s going to help Orton pack and leave for the night. Teddy has security escort Orton from the stage.
Orton complains that he wants to see Angle and Rey fight.
Teddy tells Orton to get to steppin’.

During the commercial Orton complains to security as he’s escorted out. He climbs in his rental car and peels out.

Benoit comes down to the ring. Animal comes out to face him. Animal grabs a mic and says he’s the biggest star in tag history and is pissed he don’t have a place at WM. He tells Benoit he’s going to beat Benoit to prove he deserves to be at WM.
They tie up and Animal pushes Benoit to the mat. Benoit gets backed into a corner and Animal bitch slaps him. Benoit nails Animal with two elbows that drop Animal to the mat. Animal leave the ring to gather himself. They exchange blows, then Benoit nails three Germans. Benoit tries for the sharpshooter, but Animal kicks out before it’s locked in.
Animal pushes Benoit away and pulls out his brass knucks. Benoit ducks the blow and locks on the crossface before Animal can do anything. Animal taps out.

- Winner: Benoit

benoit is walking out back and JBL is applauding with Jillian at his side. JBL is snide about Benoit making Animal tap and saying Benoit might be the best technical wrestler of their generation. Then again JBL got the title off one of the other best technical wrestlers - Benoit’s best friend Eddie. JBL is going to take Benoit’s title at WM.
Benoit says he’s glad JBL’s hand is doing better because at WM he’s going to make JBL tap out.

At WM2 William ‘The Refrigerator’ Perry competed in a battle royal and does quite well until eliminated. ‘The Fridge’ will be inducted into the Celebrity Wing of The Hall Of Fame by John Cena.

JBL comes down to the ring. Daniel Cross is in the ring. He’s supposed to be a local.
They tie up and Cross gets backed into a corner. JBL nails him with a forearm and the clothesline from hell. JBL then nails another clothesline from hell. JBL covers for the three.

Tazz and Cole go through the others who will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame and by whom.

Promo for Miz. He’s in Stamford wandering the offices and causing trouble. Was kind of dorky.

Booker T comes out to the ring with Sharmell who looks freaked out. Booker tries to calm her down in the ring, but it doesn’t work. Pirate Paul swings to the ramp and comes down to the ring giving out beads. Sharmell is outside the ring freaking.
They tie up and Booker gets a side headlock on Paul. Paul nails a drop toe hold, an arm drag into an armbar. Paul nails a moonsault for two. Booker hits Paul with some chops, but Paul gets a back elbow up.
The lights go down and Sharmell freaks. There’s no sign of the Boogeyman, but she’s screaming and crying.
Booker runs around the ring to announce side. Booker looks under the ring. Boogeyman comes out from under the ring right behind Sharmell. He grabs her and tosses her over his shoulder. The bell rings to give Pirate Paul the win by count out. The Boogeyman leaves the ring area and outback with Sharmell over his shoulder. She screams the whole time.

2 days until WM

During the commercial Booker is outback looking for his wife. He’s yelling and grabbing at people for help.

Lashley comes down to the ring for a 6 man tag match. Video of Lashley eliminating Gemini and others in the battle royal last week. Matt Hardy comes down to the ring. Tatanka rounds out their team. MNM comes out. Melina is wearing a short, low cut brown/peach dress. I thought she was going to fall out during her ring entrance. Fit Finlay comes out to round out the heel team. Of course he has his sheleighly.
Fit hauls back to hit Lashley with the sheleighly but the ref pulls it from his hand. Matt and Mercury start. Matt gets an armbar on, but Mercury nails him with a forearm tot he face. Nitro gets a blind tag and tries to get Matt, but Matt nails him with a punch first.
Lashley tags in and knocks Nitro from the ring. Lashley calls Fit into the ring, Fit does. Nitro and Mercury come at Lashley from behind and double team him. They try to suplex Lashley, but he double suplexes them.
Lashley pulls Nitro over and tags in Tatanka who nails him in the head with a flying tomahawk. Tatanka chops and nails a standing dropkick. Tatanka hits Nitro with two clotheslines and tomahawks Mercury off the ropes where he’s trying to interfere. Tatanka scoop slams Nitro and drops a leg for two. Tatanka runs the ropes and Fit knees him in the back. Fit tags in and drives his knee into the back of Tatanka’s scull while driving his face into the mat for two. Fit covers for two. Fit clotheslines and covers for two.
Mercury tags in and drops an elbow on Tatanka. He uses the second rope to choke Tatanka. Mercury distracts the ref so Fit can knee Tatanka in the face. Mercury covers for two. The crowd gets behind Tatanka who is able to suplex Mercury. Nitro tags in, but Tatanka is able to roll to his corner and tag Matt.
Matt runs across the ring and nails Fit in the head knocking him from the mat. Matt clotheslines Mercury and back body drops Nitro. Matt again clotheslines Mercury and clotheslines Nitro in a corner. Matt nails a bulldog on Nitro at the same time he clotheslines Mercury. Matt nails a side effect on Mercury and covers, but Nitro breaks up the count.
Lashley comes in and attacks Nitro from behind but Fit rushes in too and attacks Lashley from behind. Lashley nails an exploder suplex on Fit who rolls from the ring. The ref tries to make Lashley leave the ring, but Lashley goes around the ref to spear Nitro to break up the snapshot on Matt. Mercury drives Matt into a corner and then knocks Lashley from the ring. Fit rushes him but gets nailed with a quick and hard back body drop.
Matt nails a twist of fate on Mercury and covers for three. The faces celebrate in the ring.

In the ring is two black wreaths and podium on a black carpet. Mark Henry comes out dressed in a very nicely cut dark suit. He gets behind the podium and reintroduces himself. He’s sounding like a religious man. He says he’s there to pay homage to the end of Taker’s winning streak. 13 men have tried to beat Taker. Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, The Giant, King Kong Bundy, Diesel, Psycho Sid, Kane - twice, The Big Boss Man, HHH, Ric Flair, A-Train, Big Show and Randy Orton have all tried (each face was flashed on the titantron.
Henry says that was in the past, but we’re talking about the future. The future is here, the future is Henry. He took out Batista. He pinned the champion last week. He’s the one who will take out Taker at WM. (This seemed to end in a strange spot, as if he was supposed to say more but didn’t.)

The Mexicools come out to the ring on their Juan Deeres for a tag match. Kid Kash and Jamie Noble come out to face them. Jamie starts vandalizing a Juan Deere and Kash attacks Crazy from behind with a standing drop kick. Crazy rolls from the ring an gets attacked by Jamie. Psychosis leans out and gets a forearm to the back from Kash. Jamie picks Crazy up and bounces his face off the hood of the Deere.
In the ring Psychosis and Kash are exchanging punches. Psychosis gains control and Jamie rushes the ring to nail Psychosis in the back with a forearm. The ref makes Jamie go to his corner while Kash stomps Psychosis. Kash grinds Psychosis’ face into the mat.
Jamie tags in. Jamie nails Psychosis with a back elbow and then a bunch of knees to the head. Jamie pulls Psychosis to the heel corner and tags in Kash. Jamie headbutts Psychosis before leaving the ring. Kash kicks Psychosis in the gut a couple times and covers for two. Kash pushes Psychosis into Jamie’s raised boot. Jamie enters the ring and they nail Psychosis with a double clothesline. Kash knocks Crazy from the apron before retreating to his corner. Jamie covers but the ref is yelling at Crazy to leave the ring.
Jamie nails a snap suplex for two. Jamie then locks on a reclining necklock. He lets go and starts chopping Psychosis. Jamie climbs and goes for a crossbody, but runs into a drop kick from Psychosis. Each makes it to his own corner to tag in their partners.
Crazy nails a graceless back body drop followed by a standing dropkick. And then another standing dropkick. He then nails a standing dropkick on Jamie knocking him from the apron. Crazy nails a tilt-a-whirl back breaker on Kash. Jamie rushes the ring and nails a swinging neckbreaker on Crazy. Psychosis enters the ring and knocks Jamie outside. Psychosis then corkscrews over the top to take Jamie down.
Crazy throws punches on Kash. Kash looks like he’s going for a back suplex, but somehow Crazy lands face first. Kash climbs and Psychosis grabs his leg. Kash kicks him off, but it gives Crazy the delay he needs. Crazy punches Kash in the head and then superplex/moonsaults them off the top. (It was an amazing move.)

Outback Booker is still hunting for his wife. He finds a trail of worms leading by a locked room. Booker gingerly follows the trail to another door still calling her name.

Booker is at the top of a flight of stairs yelling down to a screaming Sharmell. He gingerly goes down the stairs and opens the door. She is standing on a box surrounded by worms. The Boogeyman starts laughing. She won’t get down and step on the worms. Booker pulls her off and takes her away during the laughter.

Tazz and Cole go through all the scheduled matches for WM.

Rey Rey comes out to the ring for his match - he again bounces out of the stage.

Angle comes down to face Rey.

REy backs into a corner and then the tie up. Clean break. They tie up and Rey is dropped to his back and into an arm hold. Angle gets an armbar on Rey. They get to their feet. Rey kicks and arm drags his way out. Rey is grinning and the ‘Eddie’ chants start. They tie up and Angle gets a headlock takeover. Rey keeps his shoulders up through the hold. They get to their feet and Rey pushes out. Angle gets a shoulder block. Rey gets a drop toe hold. Rey goes for the 619 but Angle moves at the last moment.
Angle kicks Rey and then an elbow to the upper back. Angle stomps Rey, but Rey gets back with tilt-a-whirl head scissors. Rey gets another head scissors on Angle who flies from the ring. Rey goes out after Angle, but gets attacked.

Rey is on the mat holding his gut, Angle stomps him. Angle chokes Rey with his foot. Rey gets scoop slammed for two. Rey gets a knee to the head. Angle nails Rey with an uppercut for two. Angle gets Rey in a reverse bear hug. Rey fights his way out and gets a hard knee for two. Angle gets Rey in body scissors. Rey’s shoulders are down for two. Angle locks on a rear naked choke, but Rey gets to his feet. Rey gets tossed in a corner, but Rey gets a foot up. Angle fights back with a belly to belly.
Angle suplexes Rey for two. Angle covers again for two. Angle reapplies the reverse bear hug. Angle changes it to a neck lock with a knee in Rey’s back. Rey tries to get to the ropes but Angle pulls him back. Rey fights out. Angle telegraphs and gets kicked for it. Angle throws a punch, but Rey blocks it. Rey ducks a clothesline but gets a crossbody for two. Rey gets a sunset flip and kicks Angle int the face for two.
Rey nails a springboard seated senton for 2 ½ - the crowd boos. Rey gets whipped into a corner and then hit with a hard German. Angle’s straps come down and he stalks Rey. Rey reverses an Angle slam into a sunset flip. Angle tries to lock on an ankle lock but Rey kicks Angle in the back of the head dropping him into 619 position. Rey goes for the 619 but Angle grabs Rey’s feet. Angle drags Rey in and attaches the ankle lock. Rey has to tap.

- Winner: Kurt Angle

Angle celebrates on the ramp to mixed reaction from the crowd. Rey is still in the ring trying to get to his feet. When he does get up Orton is behind him and nails the RKO.
Orton grabs a mic and tells Angle to wipe the smile off his face. Orton says he’s going to nails Angle with the RKO at WM. Angle rushes the ring and they fight. Orton pokes Angle in the eye and tries for an RKO. Angle reverses it into an Angle slam. Angle then, grinning, locks on the ankle lock. He wraps his whole body around Orton’s leg and holds it until Orton taps.
Both Rey and Orton are on the floor holding their ankles.
