Hey I thought I would pass along some more notes from the Backlash PPV. Overall I thought it was a pretty fun show live, with a pretty live crowd. Way too much sports entertainment for my tastes, but three good matches evened it out.
Not much happened before the dark match, couple of packages. Goldust was over big time...no one cared much for Conway. Good pop for the win.
Carlito got a big face pop, probably saw as many Carlito shirts as anyone. Aside from the blown spot, match was pretty good.
I have been a wrestling fan for 20 years, and have never seen Ric Flair wrestle live...wow what a disappointment. I finally get to see him and he jobs to Three Minute Warning Umaga. People crapped all over the finish, and deservedly so. There was a "Thank You Ric" chant as he went to the back.
Mickie and Trish was fine, live we had no idea about the injury, so for the second straight match, crowd hated the finish.
Shelton and RVD, just a great great match, best of the evening. RVD was over huge and huge pop for the finish. Second biggest pop behind HBK.
Big Show and Kane- more Sports Entertainment, Kane's pyro was the best part of the whole thing. They never announced a winner, the crowd booed that as well.
I actually thought the God entrance was pretty funny. I thought the match was fine but the finish stunk. Second disappointment of the night. Shane-O-Mac didn't jump or fly off of anything. The ladder spot looked incredible live. HBK was by far the most over person. Funniest line of the night, when HBK went for the tables,...."God....get the tables..."
Striker got a lot of heel heat and Eugene was over big as well. A few folks thought that maybe Hillbilly Jim was going to come out.
The Main Event, Cena had more boos than cheers, HHH was by far the favorite, Edge surprisingly didn't get much of a reaction. The match itself was really good, surprisingly the finish got a huge pop, even from the people who were booing Cena. I don't know if it made on TV, but we got a BOO-YAY with Cena and HHH. The crowd was really into this one.
Afterwards....HHH did his thing...a fight was breaking out behind us, so we got the heck out of there.
Rupp Arena seats 23,000 for basketball, and maybe 19,000 for wrestling. They had the upper arena tarped off behind the cameras and the very top on the other two sides. Overall I would guess about 11,000 in attendance. Hopefully they will come back and give us little better show. Thank you.
