2006 Diva Search Competition News: New Format, Auditions

It's that time of the year again .. Later this month, WWE will begin holding open calls for the 2006 Diva Search competition. Before we get to those details, it is important to note a big change in this year's Diva Search format.

For the past 2 years, the contest has been officially called the "RAW Diva Search". It was solely a RAW-brand event, with all weekly segments taking place on RAW and the winner receiving a contract with the RAW brand. This year, it is a WWE Diva Search. We will be seeing the weekly Diva Search "activities" on both RAW and SmackDown. It is unknown whether or not the winner will receive a brand-exclusive contract or if they will be a general WWE Diva. The reason behind this move is that the Diva Search has been a proven ratings draw and the SmackDown! brand needs all the help it can get at this point.

In preparation for this year's competition, WWE has started advertising with various casting and talent agencies with the hopes of courting contestants.

The ad says that WWE is looking for beautiful, physically fit women between the ages of 18 and 29. No wrestling experience or desire to enter the ring are requred for potential applicants.

In addition to the $250,000 Diva Search contract, WWE will also be hiring women for various on-air RAW and SmackDown! roles.

Women interested should email a headshot, bodyshot and contact info to divasearch@wwe.com.

Also included was information regarding the first open call for auditions. PWInsider reports that it will take place on Tuesday, May 30th, 2006 at the former WWE NY, located at 780 3rd Ave (between 48th and 49th street) on the 11th floor.
