Dark Match, WWE Smackdown! *Spoilers* (7/25/06) - Detroit, Michigan

Dark Matches:
Funaki got beat by a local guy (didnt catch his name)
Noble def. Japanese guy

Now, live from Detroit, the home of WrestleMania 23, it is time for Smackdown. Mr. Kennedy..... Kennnnedy opens the show with a countout victory over Batista. The Animal can't believe it as he has now lost to Kennedy on consecutive shows. As they take a commercial break, Batista poses for the fans.

Next up is Vito/Simon (Nova) Dean. There was a good amount of Nova chants at one point in the match, which was won by Vito couteousy of his dress over the head submission.

Following that, Tatanka makes his way to the ring, and his opponent... Sylvan! Sylvan wins the match which went back and forth with his version of an F5. After the match, he knocks the Native American headdress to the floor as an insult. Someone in the front put up a "We Want Jericho" sign, and yes, yes we all do.

The SD Divas are up next as Michelle McCool defeats Jillian using the old, using the ropes for leverage pin. This match was actually fairly decent, and featured quite a bit more "wrestling" than we had expected.

We cut to a Chavo interview, we have no idea what the questions were as JBL/Cole were doing the talking. Sadly he is "not in Detroit for personal reasons"... riiiight.

Allll Haillll King Booker! The King, and new Champion has a ceremony, marked by a carraige ride to the ring, royal draperies around the ring and balloons falling from the sky. Unfortunately Rey interupts the ceremony, thrashing Booker around the ring. His highness cannot believe this great travesty.

In another rematch from the GAB, we have Finlay/Regal for the US Title. Slow match here. . . finally as Regal unties a turnbuckle and the ref attends to it, the Leprachaun comes out from under the ring, low blows Regal with the Shaleghly (?) and taunts the ref. Still champ via pin.... 'Not so Fit' Finlay.

Moving right along, it's time for the DIVA Search. Tonight it was a round of musical chairs, which was actually more entertaining than it sounds. The hometown favorite Jen lost in the second round (Let's Go Blue!), and the game was finally won by JT. The runner up actually tried to hit JT with the chair.. Miz jumped in and was like "Whoa there, what do you think you're doing".

Next up Sylvester Terkay (Turk-eye) makes his debut and basically squashes Matt Hardy. Not much else to say there.

Once again, live from the Great American Bash... I mean Smackdown in Detroit, it's Rey/King Booker for the Title. The match had its usual spots... it's only the third time we've seen the match in less than a week. Anyway, as Rey was about to finish off Booker, from the crowd comes.. (wait for it. . . ) CHAVO! He throws Rey off the ring and into the ringside barrier (loud hit), he rolls Mysterio back into the ring, Booker hits the scissor kick and gets the pin. Alll Hail King Booker. Video recap and the show ends with Rey staring down Chavo.

... Post ECW Dark Match
-This was locally advertised as Taker/Khali No Holds Barred, but ended up being Kane/Taker Vs. Show/Khali, basically the four biggest guys they could throw into a match. Despite the crowd's desire to see Khali fight, he refused to tag in and Kane/Taker hit the double chokeslam on Show (who was still bleeding from ECW) with Taker getting the pin. End Show... See you at Ford Field for WRESTLEMANIA 23.

Before the show they handed out mail order forms for tickets for Wrestlemania. Prices are as follows : 750, 250, 100, 75, 45, and 30. The mail order forms are glossy and serial numbered, and must be mailed directly to Ford Field; the front of the flyer states that the tickets will be reserved and received by Mid-November (same time as the regular on-sale date).

Also.. after the show, TNA reps handed out flyers for the October 22nd Bound For Glory PPV to take place at the Compuware Arena in Plymouth Michigan.
