Tonight Rajah.com brings you live coverage of WWE SummerSlam. Stay tuned as the matches kick off and updates begin.
Tonight's PPV is tri-branded so announcers from each brand will be featured. We open up with a video package leading into the title matches for tonight. Then we hear commentary from all three announcers before the show kicks off!
Rey Mysterio vs Chavo
Rey's music hits first as he makes his way to the ring to a nice ovation. Next out is Chavo.
Rey & Chavo immediatley go after one another as soon as the enter the ring. The action goes from inside the ring to the outside with both men getting in a bit of offense. Chavo finally gains the advantage but not for long as Rey battles back and gets Chavo back into the squard circle.
Chavo now counters with a back suplex. The fans begin to chant Eddie as Chavo dances like Eddie which gets a boooo from the crowd. Chavo again takes the fight outside and teases a powerbomb of Rey off the top rope.
Both men go down together on the outside. Vikki Guerrero then makes an appearance and pleads with both Chavo and Rey to stop fighting. She pulls Chavo away from the ring and Rey takes advantage. Vikki now tries to get Rey to stop fighting and "accidently" makes him fall from the ropes and Chavo hits a brainbuster and then the frog splash and gets the win. A very odd match and ending with the way Vikki Guerrero came out. They tried to play it off as though she wanted both men to quit fighting with one another, but Chavo is the winner!
Winner: Chavo
Backstage King Booker and Sharmell are seen as Edge and Lita walk up. They discuss who is the most powerful couple in WWE. Booker said if he keeps his title, and Edge loses his, then Edge has to come to Smackdown and kiss his feet. Edge said if he keeps his title, Booker has to come on Raw and be his servant.
Big Show vs Sabu
Sabu comes out to the ring followed by the ECW Title holder Big Show. As soon as the match starts Sabu throws a chair at Show. Show is able to counter Sabu with a trip and then smashes the chair that Sabu had setup in the ring. Show bearhugs Sabu and dominates him before Sabu bites Show and causes Show to drop him.
Sabu is tossed outside. He gets up on the apron and rakes Big Shows eyes and pulls him onto the top rope. Afterwards, Sabu gets a chair under the ring and hits Show with it. Sabu then gets a chair shot from the top rope and lays Big Show out. Sabu gets a close pinfall for a two count before rolling out of the ring and getting a table underneath it.
Sabu sets up the table in the corner of the ring and then sends Big Show into it face first. Sabu goes for the top rope but Big Show gets up and puts Sabu in the electric chair. Show hits a powerbomb type move and then goes to the outside of the ring as Sabu rolls to the outside as well. Show throws in two sets of stairs and also another table. Show sets the table up across both sets of stairs. Sabu leaps onto the top of them, but slips off. Sabu finally hits a bulldog off the tables after setting up another table. Show is driven through the table before we get another table setup across the steps. He then goes off the table again, but Big Show catches him in a chokeslam. Big Show then drives Sabu through the tables setup and gets the pinfall victory to retain his title.
Winner: Big Show
After the match we see Big Show go to the back and Sabu remains in the ring. Sabu actually botched a springboard off the tables at the end of the match but went for it again. They went through a few tables just to get that move correct.
Backstage we see the WWE Divas speaking with one another about what it takes to be a WWE Diva. Trish is talking about how Torrie and herself didn't have to win some contest.
Next up we have the Legend Killer match and video package.
Hulk Hogan vs Randy Orton
Randy Orton is first out to the ring. Hulk Hogan makes his way to the ring to a HUGE ovation.
Both men lock up and Hogan shoves Orton to the mat. Hogan then shows off for the crowd and they eat it up. Hogan ties Orton up in a headlock and backs Orton into the corner then motions for Orton to kiss his a**. The crowd pops for Hogan. Orton finally gains some offense and drives Hogan to the mat and kicks him near the apron. Hogans bandana quickly comes off. Hogan mounting offense again behind some "Let's Go Hogan" gets Orton with a few punches. Then hits a clothesline. He then rakes Orton to the eyes which sends Orton back down to the mat.
Hogan then hits a few more punches and with each one asks Orton just how bad he wants to take Brooke out. Hogan finally gets Orton to the mat where he takes his fingernails to Orton's back. Orton goes into the ropes but is able to slam on the brakes before he gets back to Hogan. Orton gets the momentum back in his favor and goes to work on Hogan's knee or bad leg. Orton hits a chop block and then slams his weight onto Hogans leg.
Orton goes to the top rope. He misses as Hogan ducks a flying body press. Hogan goes for the big boot as he whips Orton into the ropes but Orton slides underneath it and nails Hogan. Hogan goes down as Orton sizes him up for an RKO.
Orton hits the RKO! He rolls over onto Hogan and hooks up for a 3 count. Orton believes he has won, but at the count of two Hogan's foot actually got onto the rope. Orton is still celebrating his victory when the ref tells Lillian to announce that Hogan's foot was on the ropes and the match must continue.
Hogan gets back up and Orton punches him. Hogan shakes his head. Hogan then hulks up as the crowd goes nuts. Hogan shakes off everything Orton throws at him. Then he battles back and nails Orton. Orton goes down as the crowd cheers. Hogan then hits the big boot. The crowd goes nuts as Hogan sets up for the big leg drop which he hits. He then covers Orton for the win.
Winner: Hogan
Backstage we see Melina come up and give Mick Foley a hug before his match. Foley talks about how Flair will be the one to say "I Quit" tonight. Melina lets Foley know that she does not associate herself with losers and that Foley will be victorious tonight.
Mick Foley vs Ric Flair- I Quit
Mick Foley is first out to the ring wearing his Cactus Jack t-shirt. He also brings with him a trash can. Next out is Ric Flair. Foley goes for the quick attack hitting Flair before the bell even rings and shoving that trash can in his face. He then lets out a "bang bang". Foley then pulls out Mr. Socko and jabs it into Flair. He asks for a mic so that Flair can say "I Quit" but Flair lays silent. Foley was trying to make it easy on Flair but since he didn't cooperate then he is going to suffer.
Foley gets some barbed wire and wraps it around Mr. Socko but as he goes for Flair, Flair hits a shot to Foley's nuts. He grabs Foley's package so to speak and then kicks him in the nads. Flair then grabs Mr. Socko himself and wraps it in the barbed wire. He chops Foley across the chest several times with the barbed wire sending him to the mat! These men are really going at it in the opening moments of this match and the images of Foley's chest have to be seen below.
Both men roll outside and in the meantime, Foley gets a barbed wire board and rams it into Flairs head. Now Flair is bleeding from the head. Foley is bleeding through his shirt from the barbed wire shots he took earlier. Foley gets Flair back in the ring and rubs his head in the barbed wire. Flair is now bleeding heavily out of his head. Foley then continues to rip into Flairs skin with barbed wire and drops the board on top of him. Foley grabs the mic and says to say it! Flair responds with Kiss My Ass. Foley then shatters the microphone of Flairs head.
Foley now drops a bag of thumbtacks all over the ring. Foley punches and then kicks Flair before slamming him onto the thumbtacks. Foley then gets a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire and grinds it into Flairs head. Flair hits a mule kick to finally stop Foley. Flair is on fire now as he hits Foley in the arm with the bat. Foley is bleeding from the arm. Flair rams Foley into the ropes then out of the ring as Foley falls back onto a garbage can that had been setup earlier. Flair tells Foley to quit now or he will kill him!
The doctors run to ringside and say that this match is over! Flair says "Hell no" this is a not lay on your big fat ass match this is an "I Quit" match. He rolls Foley back in the ring. He continues to beat on him with the barbed wire baseball bat. Foley is now bleeding everywhere as well. We basically have a blood bath on our hands. Melina runs out and tries to get Flair to quit. Flair says he will kill her! Flair then goes back after Foley. Melina throws in the white towel for Foley begging Flair to stop. Flair turns as though he is going to hit Melina with the bat, but as he does Foley quits! The announcers play it off as though Foley quit because he was trying to protect Melina.
Winner: Flair
Next up we have King Booker vs Batista.
King Booker vs Batista
The match starts out with both men trading shoves against one another. Batista hooks on a headlock but Booker is able to battle out. Booker rolls to the outside and then sends Batista onto the top rope as Batista goes for him. Booker rolls back in the ring. Booker snapmared Batista to the mat and applied a rear chinlock. There were some "boring" chants, almost as soon as he applied the hold. Booker chopped Batista in a corner, but Batista caught him with a belly to belly suplex for two. Booker rolled to the floor. Sharmell got on the apron, distracting the referee, and Booker broke his scepter over Batista's head. Booker rolled Batista into the ring, but only got a two count.
Batista gets the advantage back after Booker misses a side kick and lands on the ropes. Batista hits a clothesline and goes for a quick two count. Booker rolls to the floor and Batista goes to the outside after him. Booker is able to send Batista into the steel steps. After exchanging offense for a few more minutes we have a screwjob ending as Sharmell runs into the ring and attacks Batista. The referee calls for the bell and claims Batista has won the match, but that King Booker retains his title because of the DQ ending.
Winner: Batista by DQ
Backstage we see DX talking to someone who is very angry that Vince McMahon thinks so highly of Umaga. DX tells whoever this person is that they would never mess with him as we stuff flying all over the room. Basically, if Umaga interferes tonight it looks like DX will have backup.
DX vs The McMahons
As DX comes to the ring the McMahons dispense all their troops. We have Spirit Squad first, but DX quickly handles them. We then get Regal and Ken Kennedy who mount a bit of offense before the ECW Champion Big Show makes his way down to the ring. While the Smackdown guys are on the outside working over HHH, we have Big Show in the ring who applies a cobra clutch to HBK. HBK is then slung across the ring as McMahons troops have helped them gain the advantage to the point where they feel it is safe to make their way down to the ring.
We finally get to the actual match as Vince slammed Shawn Michaels, with Shane applauding him from the apron. HHH is still laid out on the floor. Vince then gets the tag and hits a clothesline on HBK. Vince then tags in Shane as he hits an elbow in the corner. They then do a double elbow as the fans try to rally HHH off the floor for help.
Vince and Shane continue to dominate HBK. They apply more elbows, more kicks and more punches as the match continues. The are using all the old school moves and double team moves that come to mind as they dominate DX. HHH is still having trouble regaining his composure and has not been a factor at all in this match. HBK finally hits a double clothesline on Vince and Shane.
HHH gets back in the ring and begins to mount some offense as all three men were previously laid out. He first takes out Shane and then body slams Vince. HBK gets back up and helps aid in HHH's attack. DX now has control back of the match. HHH sets Vince up for a pedigree as Umaga makes his way to the ring.
Armando distracts the ref while Umaga attacks HHH and helps save Vince. Umaga delivers the spike to HHH. Kane's music hits as he comes out to attack Umaga. They both begin fighting to the outside of the ring and into the backstage area. We return back to the ring.
In the ring, Vince crawled onto Triple H for a two count. Vince punched out the referee for not counting three. Shane set up Triple H for the Coast To Coast kick, putting a trash can in front of Triple H as he was slumped in a corner. As Shane went for the Coast To Coast, Michaels ran in and superkicked Shane in mid-air.
HHH then hits the pedigree on Vince to get the victory for DX.
Winners: DX
We see a video package for the Edge vs Cena match that is up next.
Edge vs John Cena
First up we have John Cena make his way to the ring to a very nice ovation from the crowd. Next we have Edge come out along with Lita and we are set to go.
Cena gets the quick advantage forcing Edge back into the corner with several punches and elbows. Edge counters with a reverse elbow and then Cena is sent into the ring post when he charges at Edge but Edge quickly ducks out of the way.
Edge starts to dominate the match as he knocks Cena from the ring apron into a barracade. Cena barely makes the 10 count from being out of the ring. As soon as he gets back in, Edge is right back on the attack. Cena fights back with some right hands but is quickly sent back to the canvas. Cena again recovers, but this time he hits a fisherman buster for a two count. Edge countered by recovering and sending Cena outside the ring. The ref starts his 10 count once again and barely Cena gets back in.
Cena begins to fight back with some more right hands as the match progresses. Edge hits Cena with a clothesline after Cena misses a cross body attempt.
As Edge goes for the spear, Cena trips him with a drop toe hold and then hooks on the STFU. Lita looks as though she is going to save Edge by decking Cena but Edge calls her off as he tries to scream and get to the ropes. As Edge finally gets the ropes, Lita slips him some brass knuckles. Cena goes for the FU! Lita then jumps in the ring to distract Cena and as that happens, Edge nails Cena in the back of the head with the brass knucks. The ref of course does not see any of this as Edge rolls Cena over for the cover.
Afterwards, Edge and Lita celebrate and hold the title high as they get the cover and win tonight at SummerSlam!
