Breaking News: Lead SmackDown! Writer Leaves WWE

SmackDown’s lead creative team writer Alex Greenfield has handed in his notice to WWE management and will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Prior to working with WWE, Greenfield had been working on several projects in Hollywood and currently has a horror film that he wrote titled “Midnight Movie” that is about to begin pre-production in California. Apparently Greenfield wanted to work full-time in Hollywood which makes it impossible for him to continue the travel schedule that goes along with being a full-time WWE employee.

The mood backstage regarding Greenfield’s forthcoming departure is a state of shock as Vince McMahon was less than pleased to learn of the news. However, due to the fact that Greenfield was up front about leaving the company, the door remains open for his return. Greenfield could be done with WWE as early as this week’s television tapings tomorrow night in Wichita, Kansas.

It looks as if Michael Hayes will be Greenfield’s successor and will takeover the reigns as the lead writer for SmackDown.
