I just got back from the Smackdown tapings. I had a few beers, but here's the gist
of what I remember (matches may be out of order):
Tag champs Brian Kendrick & Paul London defeat Idol Stevens & K.C. James in a
pre-show dark match.
William Regal & Dave Taylor defeat Black Lesner... errr... Bobby Lashley and Tatanka
via rollup while holding tights. Post-match, Tatanka pulls a heel turn by attacking
the ref and then attacking Lashley.
M.V.P. weasles his way out of his match with Kane by claiming he had a stomach
virus. He claims his contract gives him a sick day in case of illness.
Mr. Kennedy Kennedy demands a match with the Undertaker tonight. Teddy Long says he
believes that Kennedy only wants the match tonight because Kennedy knows the
Undertaker is not in the building. He says that instead, Mr. Kennedy will face Kane
in a no-DQ match.
Chris Benoit attempts to talk to Vicki Guerrero, only to have her give him the cold
shoulder. After one of the worst acting jobs I've ever seen, she finds Chavo who
asks if "Benoit suspects anything"? (Side note: It is impossible to get the
crowd to join in on a "We want Eddie!" chant. Doesn't anyone have a sense of humor
any more?)
Gregory Helms defeats Matt Hardy
Chavo & Vicki come to the ring and claim they have finally found peace after making
Rey Mysterio quit. They roll video of Rey quitting on last week's Smackdown at
least 5 times. On the 6th time, Benoit's music hits and he walks to the ring.
Before he can even get in (apparently wanting to talk to the couple), Chavo & Vicki
clear the ring, ignore Benoit, and return to the back.
Mr. Kennedy defeats Kane in the No-DQ match. MVP interfers to give Kennedy the win,
which prompts the second coolest moment of the night. Post-match, Teddy Long hit
the ramp to holla at a playa, and more specifically to announce that next week would
see the return of... THE BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION. Yes, Kane & The Undertaker will
face Mr. Kennedy Kennedy and Montell Vontavious Porter in a match on next week's
Smackdown.
A 5-diva Halloween Battle Royal is conducted with that gimp, The Miz, as special
guest referee. The diva who won the battle royal was Layla who eliminated Kristal last.
Post match, The Miz says he has a little surprise for Kristal, consider it payback
for the fat, greasy stripper he got for his birthday. What's he talking about? The
return of... THE BOOGEYMAN! Bar none, creepiest enterance ever. He winds up
standing over Kristal and spitting worms down her shirt.
John "Rapadoo" Cena and Batista defeat King Booker w/ Queen Sharmell & Big Show.
Big Show abandoned Booker as Booker went for the hot tag. Big Show then proceeded
to watch the remainder of the match from the ring-end of the ramp.
All in all, it was a great show. There will be one chant which will probably be
very hard to make out on television -- the St. Louis Cardinals were playing in Game
3 of the World Series, and several times the crowd chanted "Let's go Cardinals"
despite the fact that no one actually knew if we were winning or losing.
