Cyber Sunday Special Edition
Welcome. Due to there being no Heat tapings this past Monday Heat comes to you this week with its focus on Cyber Sunday, in particular the Champion of Champions match. Heat mainly showcased each of the participants in matches where they won their current titles. Here's a quick recap on what aired:
The 'first in-ring showdown' between King Booker, John Cena & Big Show from Raw's Season Premiere
4 July 2006: Rob Van Dam vs Big Show (ECW Title)
25 July 2006-Great American Bash: Rey Mysterio vs King Booker (World Title)
17 September 2006-Unforgiven: Edge vs John Cena (WWE Title-TLC)
Raw three weeks ago: Vince McMahon announces a title will be on the line at Cyber Sunday
SmackDown! three weeks ago: King Booker vs Batista (World Title)
John Cena/K-Fed recap
SmackDown! two weeks ago: John Cena & Batista vs King Booker/Big Show
Raw last week: John Cena vs Jonathan Coachman
End of show
Cyber Sunday picks
John Cena vs King Booker vs Big Show
I am already tired of this match and it hasn't even happened yet. They have had so many matches together on TV that nothing about this match seems special at all or has that can't miss factor. Whoever's title is on the line will win quite simply put so I'm guessing Cena's title and a Cena victory as that is the belt currently portrayed as the most prestigious.
D-Generation X vs Edge & Randy Orton
Ego has ruined this feud. DX won't let anyone get any sort of heat on them whatsoever. Someone should tell Triple H and co that this isn't 1997 anymore. A really disappointing feud which could be salvaged if Orton and Edge pick up a victory here. Hopefully Eric Bischoff gets voted in as referee as he's a fresher character than Vince McMahon or Jonathan Coachman.
Jeff Hardy vs ?????-Intercontinental Title
I've voted for Carlito. A face vs face match here would be refreshing and could deliver ala Shelton Benjamin vs Chris Jericho from Taboo Tuesday 2004 especially if there's a title change. If given some time and Carlito isn't made to hold back in the ring this could be a showstealer. The fans are firmly behind Carlito based on recent Raw reactions and anyway Shelton Benjamin and Johnny Nitro should go back in the tag division with Charlie Haas and the returning Joey Mercury which in turn would give Raw's tag team division a huge shot in the arm.
Ric Flair & ??? vs Spirit Squad-World Tag Team Titles
Dusty Rhodes will edge out Rowdy Roddy Piper and the oldies will pull out a win for a short term nostalgia pop. Maybe Kenny will aid the win as he looks to distance himself away from the Squad.
Umaga vs ?????
On a personal note I'm hoping for Sandman but I think Umaga will get Chris Benoit and win to set Umaga up for a program with John Cena.
Mickie James vs Lita
Diva lumberjacks will win out here to give the fans some more eye candy and give some more Divas PPV payoffs.
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs Highlanders vs Charlie Haas & Viscera vs Cryme Tyme
This is a match I'll admit I'm looking forward to between Heat's resident tag teams and the new team on the block. I'll go for Tag Team Turmoil and a Cryme Tyme win to keep them going strong. Hell as it's tag team turmoil throw in some more teams like Val Venis & Snitsky and Eugene & Jim Duggan if only to get some of the heel teams over before they lose to Cryme Tyme. Just a thought.
I'll be back next weekend when Heat comes to us once again in Special Edition format due to the Supershow being held on Monday before WWE's subsequent European Tour. So until then take care, enjoy Cyber Sunday wherever you are and I'll see you next week. Shaun
