WWE/ECW House Show Results (12/29/06) - Evansville, Indiana

Report by: Sweet Cheapshots, rajah.com reader

Sorry this is a bit late but I have been out of town celebrating New Year?s
weekendsince the 28th. This Smackdown/ECW supershow was my first stop on a
fun-filled weekend. Anywho, here is the run down.-

Roberts Stadium was about 3/4ths full and had a surprisingly hot crowd. This
was the first time I had ever been front row for an event so I decided I
should be extremely rowdy.

Teddy Long?s music hits and out comes the Smackdown General Manager to wish
us a Happy Holidays and to also inform us he is still in the giving spirit.
With that said, Teddy announces we will have 3 championship matches tonight.
The US title, the ECW world title and last but not least, the World
Championship, which will be contested inside a steel cage. This definitely
got the crowd amped up as none of the matches (to my knowledge) were even
announced.

The first match of the evening was Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero. This was
a typical match from the two with a lot of reversals and close falls. When
Chavo jumped out of the ring at the beginning of the match, in heel coward
form, I informed him that he sucked. He turned to me and told me my mom
taught him how to do it. Many laughs from the crowd at my expense?which was
great. Beniot wins and retains the US title.

The next match was Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Sylvan. Sylvan started up with some
mic work speaking in French getting the crowd to give him some cheap heat.
Surprisingly, the match was extremely short with Sylvan getting rolled up
for a quick 3 count. Scotty 2 Hotty quickly celebrated and left leaving
Sylvan in the ring highly frustrated. He got back on the mic demanding
another match with Scotty 2 Hotty. He got the Boogeyman instead. Usual
routine from the Boogster that ended with Sylvan eating some worms.

Funny note: When the event started the lights went out and I thought it
would be a good time for a picture with my ultra bright flash. Right as I
took the picture it captured two men leading Boogeyman with a blanket over
him stuffing him under the ring. The funniest part of this though is Boogey
must have forgot his worms as a stagehand ran down during Sylvan and S2H?s
match and handed them to him under the ring.

Our next match would be the first ECW match on the card. It featured CM Punk
and Hardcore Holly with Holly tapping to CM Punk?s Anaconda Vice. Even
though he lost the match Hardcore Holly stole the show. When he came out he
took the mic from Justin Roberts and preceded to insult the crowd with good
old fashioned ?Your all fat and ugly Midwesterners? routine. Holly even went
so far to jump into the crowd, mic in hand, to face off with one rowdy fan
in attendance. It obviously surprised the fan as when Holly jumped the first
two rows the fan sat down and wanted nothing to do with him. However, I made
it clear to Holly he was not cool in my book, which he responded to by
approaching me. He asked me why I wanted to do that and I responded that he
was awesome and I was giving him the heel reaction he deserved. He laughed
and jumped back into the ring. After the match was over Holly came by me
again and gave me a high five and told me he appreciated it that I was a
fan. This is why house shows are fantastic.

- The next match featured The Great Khali & Daivari vs. The Sandman & Tommy
Dreamer. Both Sandman and Dreamer got a great reaction from the Evansville
crowd with chants of ECW filling the building several times. I tried to get
a ?He?s Hardcore? chant for Dreamer, but it did not catch on. Khali and
Davari won the match, but I managed to piss off Khali fairly well. The poor
guy stood right in front of me when he was not in the match and I lambasted
him with verbal insults. I kept calling him the Jolly Green Giant and asked
him non-stop where my peas were. He would turn around every once in a while
and yell or spit at me. I really had no clue what he was saying, but it was
funny none the less. After the match was over Khali and Davari started to
walk up the aisle when Khali stopped Davari and pointed me out to him. I
once again screamed ?Where?s my peas? at him and Davari acted like he held
him back. They left leaving Sandman and Dreamer layed up in the ring. An ECW
chant later and the two men were back on their feet getting the respect they
deserve.

We now head back to Smackown action as Matt Hardy defeated WWE Cruiserweight
Champion Gregory Helms. Another good match from very two good workers.
Nothing really notable about this match other than the fact Helms somehow
managed to keep his doo-rag on the entire time.

- Our next match was an Extreme Rules match featuring Rob Van Dam and Sabu.
Needless to say, I was excited about this match. Not only is it a true ECW
classic, but with all the rumors flying around about Sabu possibly getting
fired and RVD leaving I am almost positive it will be the last chance I have
to see these two guys. Overall, it was a decent back and forth match up with
quite a few high spots. The most brutal moment occurred when Sabu tried to
splash RVD thru a table. RVD moved and Sabu went thru the table cutting his
wrist open pretty badly. For some reason, he kept rubbing the blood above
his right eye making it appear he was busted from his head. I don?t know why
he did this, but I guess fans in the back walked away thinking Sabu was
really messed up. Anyways, RVD takes this one and both men show each other
respect after the match is over.

- ECW Champion Bobby Lashley pinned Test. Nothing special about this match
at all. The only thing of note is that Test has the worst back acne I have
ever seen in my life. I did my best to inform him of his condition, but he
just ignored me. I guess he already knows.

- Kane vs MVP. What started as a singles competition quickly turned into a
two on one match as Kennedy stormed to the ring and helped lay out the Big
Red Machine. As MVP (selling his burns) and Kennedy started to leave Taker?s
music went off and out came the Phenom to perhaps the biggest ovation of the
night. I really was surprised to see Taker at a house show in Evansville as
it is one of the smaller markets the WWE runs in. Anways, match ends with a
stereo tombstone resulting with The Brothers Of Destruction picking up the
win. Fun match.

- Next Justin Roberts hosted the Dvia?s winter Bikini Contest between
Ashley, Rebecca, Kelly Kelly and Kristal. I honestly can not believe how
skinny some of these divas are. Some of them looked Ethiopian skinny sick so
it is a good thing the camera adds a few pounds?I guess. Ashley wins and
then informs the crowd that it is Justin Roberts birthday so he is going to
get a very special present. They get a chair into the ring and all the divas
begin to dance for Justin before they strip him to his boxers. Next thing
you know Big Dick Johnson is in the ring humping Justin while squirting an
insane amount of baby oil all over the both of them.

As the ring was cleaned up a bit, Teddy Long came back down to the ring and
informed us that the steel cage match was next so now would be a great
chance to hit the merchandise stand or use the restroom. They also took this
time to shoot out a few shirts to the crowd as the stage crew constructed
the cage.

Booker T was the first out accompanied by his lovely wife Sharmell. Booker
qquickly got on the mic and begin to yell at Smackdown?s GM about how it was
an atrocity for him to be in a cage match and that Teddy had some sort of
vendetta against him. Batista?s music hits and here comes the Animal to a
large ovation from the Evansville crowd. It was during the moment that
Booker T came over to my section to test out the cage. I quickly got his
attention by waving a dollar at him and offering it to him for his wife. He
very angrily told me to ?F*ck off!? The match was actually the best one I
have seen these two have with Batista staying botch free the whole night. He
picks up the win with Batista Bomb sending the crowd home happy. As he was
leaving Booker and Sharmell walked past me where I preceded to up the ante
to $2 for his wife. Sharmell began to scream at me while Booker continued to
hurl curse words my direction. Someone in the audience picked up on this
though as they dropped a quarter at Sharmell?s feet telling her ?thanks for
last night.? The King and the Queen left royally pissed off. Good stuff.

Overall it was a great show with a lot of action. I was actually surprised
to see that there wasn?t an intermission. After the show, we forgot what
section we were parked in (thanks alcohol) and by chance wandered into Bobby
Lashley signing autographs. I got him to sign my ticket, but I ended up
selling it to a kid for $10. I?m not that big a fan of Lashley so it was no
big deal to part with it. Besides it bought my dinner at Denny?s. Thanks
Lashley. We also ended up seeing Undertaker driving down the Lloyd
Expressway in his rental car with Tennessee plates. We tried to get his
attention but he was wrapped up in a conversation on his cell phone.

Biggest Pops :
1) Undertaker
2) Batista
3) RVD
Biggest Heat
1) Booker T
2) Hardcore Holly
3) Test

Have a great New Year!
