Welcome aboard. I missed the opening credits so there may have been a Bam Bam Bigelow tribute at the start. Let's get straight to the action.
Val Venis vs Jeremy Young
Young has jobbed before and sports "The Fire" on his trunks. Val begins with a side headlock before countering a hiptoss off the ropes with a backslide for two. Young gets some shots in before Val recovers to hit two running kneelifts, a side russian legsweep and some mounted mat punches following some gyration. Val suplexes and plays to the crowd before Young takes Val to the corner. Val turns it around before offering a clean break but Young suckers him with a punch to the face. Val boots back then Irish whips. Young sidesteps a charge resulting in Val crashing shoulder first in the corner. Young winds up Val's left arm to punch before hanging it up on the top rope. Young goes to work on Val's left shoulder with punches and various rams to the corners. Young sustains Val's punches, takes Val down by the arm then sits on a side headlock while isolating Val's left shoulder. Young gains some nearfalls during the resthold before dropping some knees onto the arm. Young punches the arm, steps out onto the apron to try to hang it up again but Val punches then rams Young's head into the corner twice. Val hiptosses Young back in where he is the recipient of a clothesline, backelbow and big boot. Val shakes off his left arm. Val chops Young down twice. Young goes to reverse Val off the ropes but Val catches him in a half nelson slam. Val goes up top, swings his hips and lands the Money Shot. 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: VAL VENIS.
Viscera vs Wes Adams
Adams is the jobber who was fed to the Alpha Male Monty...whoops I mean Marquis Cor Von this past week on ECW. Coachman and Grisham hype up Viscera's chances in the Royal Rumble match. I say he has no chance. Adams ducks a Viscera grab attempt but Viscera swats away Adams' dropkick attempts before levelling him with a clothesline. Viscera hiptosses Adams into the corner where after some slaps to the chest Viscera Irish whips and backelbows him down. Viscera drops an elbow before standing on Adams' chest with both feet while holding onto the top rope. Viscera with a high slam. Viscera drives Adams into the corner. After another slap to the chest and Irish whip, Viscera pumps it up, charges and squashes Adams in the corner. Viscera gyrates, Adams staggers into the Sex Drive. 1-2-3. Viscera is now 4-0 on Heat in as many weeks in 2007. Here is Your Winner: VISCERA.
The World's Greatest Tag Team vs The Highlanders
During a brief pause in the ring introductions Lilian forgets Shelton's name. Shelton is in the Royal Rumble match but Haas is not. That's not right. The Highlanders slap each other at the start to fire up. Shelton gains an early advantage over Rory. Shelton taunts Rory saying he'll slap him if he likes it so much. Rory fires back with punches. Shelton reverses off the ropes catching Rory in a side headlock. Rory powers into a reversal and after some dodge tactics off the ropes Rory headbutts Shelton down. Haas tags in landing some shots and an Irish whip. Rory continually blocks Haas' suplex attempt as he inches into a tag. Rory slips behind Haas before pushing him into Robbie's feet. Robbie on the second rope lands a cross body for a nearfall. Robbie applies a side headlock, Rory blindtags in, Haas receives a double polish hammer and double headbutt drop for a Rory nearfall. The Highlanders work over Haas' arm with armbars, armdrags and headbutts. Haas shoves Robbie off the apron. Robbie causes a distraction allowing Shelton to deck Rory from behind with a forearm. The heels work over Rory with kicks and punches mainly to the head. Shelton cuts off a fightback attempt with a back suplex for a nearfall. Haas clubs and knees the back then slams but an elbow is met by Rory's knees. Rory to the corner, Haas misses a charge and Rory tags out. Robbie lands punches, clotheslines and dropkicks to both adversaries. Rory punches Shelton through the ropes. Haas reverses Robbie off the ropes who gets hit by a returning Shelton. Haas hoists Robbie up bringing his back down against Shelton's knee as the referee is busy keeping Rory out. After receiving a double suplex Shelton scoops Robbie up and drops his back across Haas' knee. Haas covers for a nearfall. Haas chinlocks Robbie while wedging a knee into his back. Robbie escapes then attempts a sunset flip off the ropes but Haas tags out before going over enabling Shelton to stomp the back then apply a chinlock of his own. Robbie goes to run the ropes but Shelton yanks him down by the hair. Shelton applies an abdominal stretch. When the referee doesn't spot Haas' unfair leverage Rory distracts him enabling the heels to pull a switcheroo after Robbie manages to hiptoss free from Shelton. As Haas applies the stretch the referee orders him out as he didn't see the tag. As both heels argue with the referee, Robbie goes to tag out. Haas notices this and cuts Robbie off dropping an elbow across his back. Both heels pull Robbie away. Shelton sits on another chinlock. Robbie gets Shelton on his back and falls back. Shelton grabs a leg to keep Robbie away, Robbie eventually pushes him away with his other foot to enable the hot tag. Rory unloads on both heels with punches and polish hammers before firing up. Haas charges into a powerslam for a nearfall. Shelton goes to slam Rory who slips behind. Rory sends Shelton off the ropes and both Highlanders nail the Scot Drop. Haas knocks Rory down from behind. Robbie punches at Haas. Haas reverses Robbie off the ropes into a backbodydrop. Rory rolls Haas up off the ropes. The referee is too busy to count as he's trying to roll Robbie out. Shelton takes advantage by kicking Rory in the head. Haas reverses the rollup. 1-2-3. Here Are Your Winners: THE WORLDS GREATEST TAG TEAM. Match went long by Heat standards. I can understand the psychology used but at times this was quite boring. Shelton has lost his sparkle.
Best Match: None.
Worst Match: Viscera vs Wes Adams.
Grisham announces the Royal Rumble is upon us before signing off and thanking us for watching to end the show.
Royal Rumble predictions
JOHN CENA, BATISTA, TEST, THE HARDYS, SHAWN MICHAELS
The Rumble match is the hardest to predict in years as there's no clear indication like there has been in recent years which I think is a good thing. Personally I think it's a four horse race between Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Edge and Randy Orton. I look forward to watching my favourite PPV of the year tonight and seeing what directions WWE take as we officially begin the Road to WrestleMania. Hopefully unlike last year the Rumble match goes back to being on last as that is the spot we're accustomed to seeing it in.
Enjoy the Royal Rumble later tonight. See you next week. Shaun.
