Happy Easter everybody. With an excellent WrestleMania in the books for another year it's onwards we go with Backlash next on the radar. First things first though it's time for Heat. Four matches on cue. Cryme Tyme have the weekend off but Viscera is back. I'll let you decide if that's a good/bad thing. Let's get the ball rolling with.....
"The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs Eugene
Rematch from not so long ago. Eugene seems to like his baldness as he interacts with the fans on his way out. Eugene hugs the referee after shaking his hand. Masters refuses a handshake. Masters backs Eugene to the corner then flexes in front of a scared Eugene. Eugene responds with a wiggle then runs across the ring. The kids love this. I'll admit Eugene's more comical bald. Masters works the arm with a wristlock. Eugene bites the hand to reverse. Eugene applies a side headlock but gets floored following a shoulder tackle attempt. Masters uses stomps, a scoop slam and legdrop to score a nearfall. Masters lands punches to Eugene's upper body before briefly switching his focus to a leg using stomps and various knee shots. Masters delivers a neckbreaker for a nearfall before applying a head vice to Eugene. Eugene backelbows free so Masters rakes the face. Masters stupidly rams Eugene's head into the corner resulting in Eugene bashing his own head into the corner several times to fire up. Masters made this mistake last time. He never learns. Eugene lands a series of punches to stagger Masters before delivering an airplane spin to daze him. Eugene finally takes Masters down with a flying shoulder tackle for a nearfall. Masters elbows out of a Rock Bottom attempt, shoves Eugene front first into the corner then applies the Masterlock. Eugene holds on for a while before finally fading when the referee checks on him a second time. Disappointing opener. Masters hasn't progressed much in the two and a bit years he's been around. Here is Your Winner: "THE MASTERPIECE" CHRIS MASTERS.
Candice Michelle vs Victoria
Candice counters out of two side headlock takedowns with two headscissors'. Candice with a snapmare and neckbreaker snap (ala Mr Perfect). Victoria tries to counter Candice's side headlock with a back suplex but Candice rolls through onto the mat keeping the hold applied. Victoria knees the back of the head to escape. Victoria boots the head then throws Candice down by the hair. Victoria rams Candice's head into the mat before sitting on her back and stretching at her face twice. Victoria yanks Candice onto her back by the hair. Candice rolls back onto her feet, boots Victoria but runs into an elbow to the face. Following a nearfall Victoria tugs the hair and asks Candice how her new nose is (Victoria broke it with a kick a few months back). Candice counters a Victoria kick into a dragonscrew takedown. Candice punches Victoria into the corner. Victoria reverses an Irish whip but charges into an elbow. From the second rope Candice hooks Victoria with her legs and leans back over the ropes to stretch at Victoria's neck. After rolling to the outside Candice scales the top rope and lands a cross body. The referee screws up a first count then registers a nearfall. Victoria boots the gut then slams but Candice manages to avoid Victoria's shaky-shaky backflip. Candice staggers Victoria with three kicks to the midsection. Candice lands a spinning heel kick off the ropes. Victoria is out as Candice covers. 1-2-3. The commentators play this up as a big upset. Candice more than held her own here and has come on leaps and bounds. A good Women's match. I'd like to see Candice feud some more with Melina over the blog wars on WWE.com. Victoria could deal with Mickie James and in the meantime there's two good feuds for the Divas. Here is Your Winner: CANDICE MICHELLE. Post match Candice tells Victoria that was for her nose.
Viscera vs Patrick Bush
Viscera is back on Heat after a few cameos on Raw Battle Royals. He's a bit of a tweener nowadays. Piped in cheers for his entrance. Viscera shoves Bush down. Bush ducks a clothesline, staggers Viscera with a dropkick then runs into a clothesline. Viscera takes Bush to the corner to deliver three slaps to the chest. Viscera hiptosses Bush to the mat. Viscera gets Bush up to headbutt. Viscera elbows Bush down then drops a big elbow. Viscera takes Bush to the corner to slap the chest again. Irish whip by Viscera, Bush hits the corner front first before crashing to the mat. Bush gets up and sidesteps Viscera's charge. Bush lands some punches but charges into a rolling heel kick. Viscera gyrates then lands the Viscera Drop (splash) for the 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: VISCERA. Viscera receives more piped in cheers as he struts post match. Grisham says Viscera wants a big year and wants to get on the WrestleMania 24 card. Fat chance I say.
Kenny Dykstra vs Val Venis
Main Event time. This is the third recent Heat matchup between the two if I can recall with Kenny currently 2-0 up. Val chucks his towel into the crowd but we don't get to see the recipient. Val starts with a waistlock takedown into a front facelock. Kenny counters into a hammerlock on the mat. Back up, Kenny with a side headlock and shoulder tackle. Kenny runs into a hiptoss. Val hits an armdrag and dropkick prompting Kenny to roll outside holding his chest and call a time out. The referee stops Val from following Kenny out. Back inside Kenny lands some shots but Val regains control cutting off a rope whip with two running kneelifts followed by a side russian legsweep for a nearfall. Val drives three knees into the gut then hits a gutbuster for another nearfall. Kenny goes to the corner where Val punches. Kenny reverses an Irish whip, Val floats over a charge, Kenny blocks a half nelson slam before elbowing the head and dropping Val face first into the corner. Kenny drops three forearms across Val's throat for a nearfall before choking him in the middle rope with his hands. Kenny pulls Val up into two short arm clotheslines for another nearfall before applying a chinlock with his knee wedged into Val's back. Val fights free with backelbows before forearming and charging Kenny who puts his head down allowing Val to boot. Val charges into a dropkick for a Kenny nearfall. Kenny gains more nearfalls following a stomp and forearm drop across the neck then a jumping backelbow off the ropes. Kenny goes back to the chinlock while biting on Val's forehead. Kenny cuts off Val's punches with a slam. Val dodges a forearm drop. Kenny goes to get Val up who boots him in the head. Kenny charges Val in the corner but gets elbowed away. Val rallies with a clothesline, backelbow, polish hammer and backbodydrop off the ropes. Val scores nearfalls with a sitout powerbomb and fisherman suplex. Val charges Kenny who catches him with a hotshot across the top rope. Kenny delivers his swinging neckbreaker finisher for the 1-2-3. Good match. Here is Your Winner: KENNY DYKSTRA. Post match Kenny checks his jaw on his way to the back as the camera zooms in on someone's South Park sign which has Cartman saying "God I Hate You Kenny Dykstra".
Grisham speculates on this being the year of Kenny Dykstra before he signs off and thanks us for watching. End of show.
If anyone knows the name of Kenny's finisher feel free to drop me a line.
Best Match: Kenny Dykstra vs Val Venis.
Worst Match: Chris Masters vs Eugene.
Show Verdict: Thumbs in the middle. The Divas Match and Main Event were good. Viscera's match and the opener were quite the opposite.
