- While the official WrestleMania 23 buy rate number has not yet been made available to the public, at least one source within the cable industry and another inside WWE have said that the number is real big. Apparently the number is pretty good-sized given people within WWE including Vince McMahon are said to be very pleased. McMahon was said to have unrealistically high expectations for the event, so it will be interesting to see how many buys the event did, with all indications that it will be over 1 million buys.
- During today’s WWE investor conference call to discuss the First Quarter 2007 numbers for the company, Linda McMahon admitted that returns thus far for The Condemned starring Stone Cold Steve Austin are “disappointing.” McMahon blamed the R rating for the lack of draw, citing that many teenage WWE fans were unable to see the flick. She tried to calm investors by saying that they remained hopeful that the film would have a stronger second week along with solid DVD sales. Linda noted that John Cena was now a “globally recognized star” because of The Marine and with the right distribution, Steve Austin will be as well.
