I attended the Smackdown/ECW taping last night in San Antonio, TX. I wasn't sure how to feel going in, given what Chris Benoit had done to his family. A lot of the fans there seemed to feel the same way. The building was about 3/4 full. An usher told me it was a sell out but a lot of people didn't come to the show. I found that understandable.
They didn't mention Benoit at all live. When I got home and checked the site, I found out why. I didn't hear anyone in my section really even talking about the Benoit story. Here's a quick recap of the show.
Dark Match:
Biker Chuck Palumbo beat Kenny Dykstra.
Smackdown:
Ric Flair beat Carlito with the Figure Four.
Matt Hardy beat Lance Cade with the Twist of Fate.
Chavo Guerrero beat Jamie Noble and Funaki when he pinned Funaki. He kept the Cruiserweight Title.
Deuce and Domino beat Cryme Tyme with a roll up.
There was a backstage segment where Edge told Vickie Guerrero he didn't want to wrestle Batista tonight. She told him it was a non-title match so he had to.
Kane beat MVP pretty easily with the chokeslam. This one made no sense to me. Isn't MVP getting a push?
They did a goofy diva segment that I missed. It had Mickie James and Victoria in it. Mickie then pinned Victoria.
The Great Khali squashed Eugene. It was really quick.
In the main event, Batista beat Edge (which was telegraphed by the non-title stipulation). The show was OK, nothing great, but that didn't surprise me given what everyone there has been through over the last few days.
