I attended the Smackdown/ECW House show in Macon, GA last night, August 19.
This may not be in the correct order, but here's how it went down.
-Theodore Long came out to a nice pop and asked us if we minded having him
as our host for the night...like we had a choice. After another decent pop
he "humbly" agreed to be our host and kicked us off with a match for the US
title.
-MVP vs Matt Hardy (US title): lots of stalling by MVP who tried to walk out
on the match. Long warned him if he walked out, Hardy would be crowned the
champion. MVP throws a fit and barely makes the 10 count. MVP gets the
pinfall after 20+ minute match. Easily the longest match of the night.
-Burchill/Taylor vs the Major Brothers: Got a few "boring" chants. Burchill
and Taylor spent the whole match trying to work us into an anti-England,
pro-USA chant. The funniest part was Burchill goading us into a "USA" chant
then acting irate like he didn't expect it. Major Brothers win by pinfall.
Taylor used his flag to swipe a sign out of a fan's hand after the match
which got a lot of laughs.
-Diva Swim-suit contest. Your bathroom break segment. Brooke "wins"
This is where I kinda lose track of the match order...
Balls Mahoney vs The Miz: Nothing special. Also got a couple "boring"
chants. I'm just glad Balls wears a purple bodysuit under his regular ring
attire. Miz gets the pin
Kane vs Finlay: Crowd popped big for Kane. Decent match. I told my friends
about Hornswoggle who, unfortunately for them, no-showed. Kane wins with a
chokeslam.
Funaki vs ???: I didn't catch the guy's name but let me just say that to my
shock Funaki won. That should tell you how high on the roster his opponent
was.
John Morrison and Big Daddy V w/Matt Striker/ vs CM Punk/Tommy Dreamer: My
two female friends swooned over Morrison, and I must say seeing him stand
next to Big Daddy V was quite the dichotomous sight. One should not look
directly at Big Daddy V if you treasure your eye sight. Morrison did some
Rick Rude-esque posing and was promptly mocked by Punk and Dreamer. I forgot
who pinned Morrison, but Punk/Dreamer win. Afterward Big Daddy V goes on a
rampage and the Boogeyman makes the save. Morrison and Big Daddy V bail
leaving Matt Stiker in the ring. Boogeyman attacks Striker and shares some
worms with him. Probably the funniest, albiet, grossest segment of the
night.
The Great Khali vs Batista (WHC match): Not all the great, but then again we
are talking about a match featuring the Great Khali. Batista gets an insane
pop. Batista gets dominated most of the match, hits two moves, and sets
Khali up for a Batista bomb. Finlay interferes giving Batista the DQ win.
Kane then comes in and runs off Finlay. Batista spends about ten minutes
interacting with fans.
All in all, good show. I may have missed a match. Looking at the two rosters
I'm actually surprised at some of the big names that weren't there. Maybe it
was an off-night or something. Still fun none-the-less.
Biggest pops:
1. Batista
2. CM Punk
3. Kane
Biggest Heat:
1. The Great Khali
2. John Morrison
3. MVP
