Source: PWInsider.com

WWE Champion Randy Orton and RAW General Manager William Regal appeared on the Sky News afternoon show with Kay Burley earlier today to plug tonight’s SmackDown/ECW tapings as well as discuss the company’s current ongoing tour of the United Kingdom. A video was shown of Al Snow from back in 2000 as the lead in to the interview. The host asked what they thought of the footage which Regal said that he didn’t understand why they would show footage of a guy that hasn’t been with the company for “ten years”. Regal said that professional wrestling was so popular because it was “pop culture” and that people enjoyed the entertainment aspect that it offered.

Randy Orton said that wrestling is competitive because workers are always trying to work their way up to the top spots in order to make more money. Orton said that no other form of entertainment offers the same levels of energy. The host said that Cage Fighting is the big thing in the UK as they aired clips of the UFC. Regal said that WWE was more family oriented and that both products have their own fan base. Burley said that Cage Fighting looked too fierce as Orton pointed out that there are several crossover fans that watch both products. The WWE Champion also said there is more to being a professional wrestler than there is an MMA fighter.

Both Orton and Regal concluded the piece by plugging tonight’s SmackDown/ECW tapings which are sold out.
