Adam Cole Explains Why He Has Advantage Headed Into Tonight's NXT Title Match Against Finn Balor

Ahead of his match against Finn Balor for the vacant NXT World Championship at tonight's NXT Super Tuesday II show, Adam Cole spoke with Chris E. Hayner of for an interview to promote the event.

During the discussion, Cole explained why he feels he has the advantage headed into tonight's match with Balor, which WWE has confirmed will be the opening bout of the NXT Super Tuesday II show kicking off at 8/7c on USA Network, as well as the bout deciding who the greatest NXT Champion of all-time is.

Featured below are some of the highlights from the new Game Spot interview with Adam Cole.

On first wrestling Finn Balor at a Revolution Pro Wrestling (RPW) show in 2014 right before he joined WWE via NXT when he was on his farewell to the indies tour as Prince Devitt: "I wrestled Finn Balor on his farewell tour of the independents to go to NXT. That was the first time I had met Finn. It was the first time we had ever wrestled each other and there was this instant chemistry."

On being forced to be at your best when you're the reigning and defending NXT World Champion: "When you're NXT champion, you're preparing at the highest level all the time, not only because you're the champion, but to keep the championship. So Finn Balor--don't get me wrong--he's a high-level performer, he has been for years. But again, he'll tell you as a former NXT champion, you're at your peak physically and mentally when you're firing on all cylinders as an NXT champion."

On that being one of the key factors to his advantage going into tonight's match: "I'm still in that regiment and in that mindset of that championship preparation and mentality. So as grueling as the 60-minute Iron Man four-way match was this past week, I'm ready to go with Finn Balor."

On being compared to Balor often and tonight's match deciding who the greatest NXT Champion of all-time is: "I've been ready to go with Finn Balor for a long time, because there's been this constant comparison between Adam Cole and Finn Balor. There's always this discussion of who was the actual greatest NXT champion of all time. All the respect in the world for Finn, but I want people to remember me as the greatest NXT champion of all time--not him."
