During tonight's AEW Full Gear go-home episode of Dynamite and Collision, the company announced that the AEW Continental Classic will return, starting with next week’s episode of Dynamite. Currently, no names or brackets have been revealed. However, Kazuchika Okada from the Don Callis Family, who is the reigning AEW Unified Champion, is guaranteed a spot in the tournament as long as he does not lose the title before then. Okada won the title by defeating Will Ospreay in last year’s finals.
The inaugural winner of the Continental Classic was Eddie Kingston, who claimed victory over Jon Moxley from The Death Riders in the finals back in 2023, becoming the first Continental Champion. This championship is now merged with the AEW International Championship, resulting in the AEW Unified Championship. Both titles were unified at AEW All In: Texas when Okada defeated Kenny Omega.
The AEW Continental Classic is a round-robin tournament with a 20-minute time limit for each match. No one is allowed at ringside during the bouts, and outside interference is strictly prohibited. The finals have taken place at World’s End for the past two years.
