AEW Dynamite Quick Recap for September 1, 2021

Matches Tonight: Five
  • Tag Team Match: FTR vs Santana & Ortiz. Great match that saw several close finishes. Santana & Ortiz picked up the win. Worth watching! 8:02-8:18pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Orange Cassidy vs Jack Evans. Orange Cassidy won with a roll-up pin during the commercial break. Afterwards, the Hardy Family attacked Cassidy until Jungle Express made the save. 8:40-8:47pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Powerhouse Hobbs vs Brian Cage. Great match between the two behemoths that saw Hobbs pick up the win after some help from Team Taz. 9:04-9:12pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Penelope Ford w/ the Bunny vs Tay Conti. Decent match that saw Conti pick up the win. A post-match beatdown was stopped by a returning Anna Jay. 9:22-9:33pm EST.
  • Eight-Man Tag Main Event Match: The Elite vs Jurassic Express & The Lucha Bros. The Elite picked up the win. After the match, Kenny Omega and the rest of the Elite beat the tar out of their opponents, had the steel cage lowered and completely dismantled the Lucha Bros. and Christian Cage, who attempted to make the save. 9:41-9:58pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • A Confrontation: CM Punk came out to a huge reaction and cut a promo that highly praised Darby Allin's ability, and expressed his fear that he may lose as he's not wrestled in seven years. Mid-promo, 2.0 jumped Punk. Sting & Allin made the save.
  • The Judas Respect: Jim Ross joined Chris Jericho for an in-ring interview. Jericho stated he put his career on the line because he's not fine being complacent, and if he doesn't beat MJF he'll never be able to look himself in the mirror again. 8:56-9:02pm EST.
  • A Betrayal: Paul Wight was called to the ring by QT Marshall, who attempted to gain the upper hand with sheer numbers. The Gunn Club hit the ring, clearing it...then Billy Gunn turned on Paul Wight, beating him with a steel chair. Afterwards, QT Marshall hit a Diamond Cutter on a weakened Wight.
  • Returning: Anna Jay made her return, and will participate in the PPV this weekend.
  • This Friday on Rampage: Darby Allin vs Daniel Garcia, Malakai Black vs Lee Johnson, Kris Statlander in a handicap match against Rebel & Jamie Hader; TNT Champion Miro will appear, as will CM Punk.
