AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS (2/16/2022)

This week's show kicks off with the usual theme and opening video and then we shoot inside the Municial Auditorium in Nashville, TN. where we see CM Punk seated inside the ring as Jim Ross welcomes us to the show.

CM Punk Makes His Announcement Regarding MJF Rematch

He has a red shoe box in front of him and begins speaking and reminding everyone that he is drug and alcohol free. He says that makes him better than you. He asks if that sounds familiar. He then talks about how he has influenced a generation of talent, some of which are in the locker room right now.

Eventually, Punk gets to MJF. He says he tries to talk like him, walk like him but he'll never be like him. He brings up MJF beating him in his hometown and says you'd think that makes him furious but in honesty, he says he's proud of him. He says he strays from the path in one regard -- by learning. He thinks he's Piper from Portland or Bret Hart from Calgary, but he's just sh*tty little Maxwell.

From there he shouts out Jon Moxley for the assist last week when bringing up the fact that MJF needed help and assistance from several people to secure the aforementioned victories over him.

Punk says he thinks about the stipulation and says it makes him think of the toughest matches he's had in his career. He thinks about a steel cage and says Wardlow can probably climb one just fine and he knows MJF can climb and exit it to avoid the lessons he so badly needs to be taught.

As he continues, he reveals that he will face MJF in a rematch at the AEW Revolution 2022 pay-per-view in a Dog Collar Match. He says Piper had his, now you can have yours. He pulls out a Dog Collar and chain from the red shoe box and asks if MJF will be his Valentine.

CM Punk says he knows MJF is in the back pissing his pants because no one wants to be involved in a Dog Collar match. He says there's one more thing he wants to say and he wants to say it directly into the eyes of MJF. He asks him to come out.

After a slight delay, MJF's theme hits and out comes The Pinnacle leader. Punk pulls out a picture and shows a young MJF at an autograph session with CM Punk. He says it was the greatest day of his life but to him it was just Friday. He says at Revolution on March 6, it'll be the worst day of MJF's life but to him it'll just be a Sunday. He vows to stain the canvas not with MJF's sh*tty little spray tan, but instead his blood.

MJF takes a mic and contemplates a response as Punk bites down on the chain and Dog Collar, but MJF decides instead to drop the mic and walk off to the back. The fans react and Punk's theme hits to end the segment. Great stuff here in this week's opener.

Bryan Danielson vs. Lee Moriarty

After the commentators run down the lineup for tonight's show, we shoot to a video package for our opening contest of the evening. On that note, we see the events that led up to tonight's showdown between Bryan Danielson and Lee Moriarty. After it wraps up, we head to a pre-match commercial break.

When we return from the break, we see Christian Cage and Jurassic Express backstage with Tony Schiavone. He mentions the Casino Battle Royale and asks the fellas for their thoughts. Christian Cage vows there will be some changes in the AEW tag-team division soon but one thing will stay the same -- Jurassic Express will be the champions.

Now we return inside the arena where Bryan Danielson's theme hits and out he comes for the first bout of the show. "The American Dragon" settles inside the ring and we await the entrance of his opponent.

The commentators talk about how Danielson has vowed to give Lee Moriarty a lesson in violence tonight as the theme for Moriarty hits and he makes his way out and heads to the ring. Matt Sydal accompanies him out and wishes him luck before heading to the back. We see Melissa Joan Hart sitting in the crowd as a cameo acknowledged on the broadcast by the commentators, who also plug Moriarty's entrance theme -- which he himself performs -- off the new AEW Music project.

We hear the bell and this one is now off-and-running. Danielson extends his hand to Moriarty for a pre-match sign of respect, but when Moriarty goes to shake it, Danielson pulls it away like a true heel. The two get after it from there and the match immediately breaks into some mat-based amateur-style grappling.

Danielson gets Moriarty in a surf board on the mat and locks in a dragon sleeper with the knees captured. Moriarty escapes and looks for his signature stretch-submission, but "The American Dragon" avoids it. As the action returns standing, Moriarty starts blasting Danielson with some stiff European uppercuts. Danielson uses some fancy movement and then begins blasting Moriarty with repeated "Yes!" kicks in the ropes. He blasts him with a knee to the grill as Moriarty was dangling off the middle ropes and then we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.

When we return from the break, we see Danielson hit a suplex and go for back-to-back pin attempts. He is still clearly in control of the offense in this one, but this doesn't last for long, as Moriarty counters another pin attempt by Danielson into a modified Boston Crab. Danielson counters back into mount position and elbows the crap out of Moriarty. Moriarty counters back to mount himself and returns the favor, peppering Danielson with some elbows as well until Danielson counters into his LeBelle Lock submission attempt. Moriarty makes it to the ropes to escape and the fans break out into a loud "This is awesome!" chant.

Danielson blasts Moriarty with an open-handed smack in the mouth for the second time in the bout, but this only enrages him. Moriarty begins blasting Danielson with repeated elbows while standing but Danielson blocks the last one and crushes Moriarty with a rolling elbow strike. Moriarty fights back and ends up locking Danielson in his Border City Stretch hold. Danielson escapes and hits a big modified side suplex and then stalks Moriarty in the corner with a sinister look in his eyes, which the commentators point out. He charges and blasts Moriarty with a psycho knee but waves the referee off afterwards.

We see Danielson grab the wrists of Moriarty and he begins stomping the hell out of him over and over again. He transitions into the triangle sleeper and in Nate Diaz fashion, throws up a double biceps pose as the ref calls for the bell. Great match.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson Wants His Answer From Jon Moxley

Once the match wraps up, Danielson brings up his vow to teach Moriarty a lesson in violence. He asks the fans if he passed or failed. They react pretty much the same when he says both, which leads him to say that's why he doesn't trust the American audience with anything.

He says that's not why he grabbed a microphone, however, and then brings up his offer to join forces with Jon Moxley a couple of weeks ago. He demands an answer. He drops the mic.

Before Danielson can exit the ring, however, "Wild Thing" hits and out comes Jon Moxley through the crowd as the commentators bring up him meeting his daughter today. He begins heading to the ring through the crowd and it appears Danielson could get his answer right now.

Mox goes on to tell a story about how he used to be like the young talent in the AEW locker room. He brings up facing Bryan Danielson at an independent show years ago. He says he came up short but getting a taste of who he was told is the best wrestler in the world just made him angrier and better.

He goes on to explain that he had more chances to share the ring with Danielson, but points out that he's never beaten him. He then brings up the offer that Danielson extended recently and says it got him thinking about all the carnage they could cause and how it could help launch a ton of careers in the locker room.

Moxley says no matter how hard he tried he couldn't think of one reason to say no. He says then he got to wondering if the only reason Danielson wants to stand side-by-side by him is because he doesn't want to find himself in the one spot no one wants to be in -- standing across the ring from him. He says if that's the case, then he's already beaten Danielson.

He questions what Danielson's motives are. He says it's time to find out. He says he's not saying yes, but he's not saying no. He tells Danielson he'll leave it up to him. He points out he is not the young kid from so many years ago. He says he doesn't stand side-by-side with nobody until he bleeds with them first. He drops the mic and exits the ring as the fans pop. Really good promo segment here. Really, really good.

Keith Lee Says Phase 1 Is Done

We shoot to a vignette featuring new comments from Keith Lee. He talks about phase one already being done as highlights are shown of his debut last week. He says phase two will be at the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match.

Face Of The Revolution Qualifying Match
Wardlow vs. Max Caster

The theme for Wardlow hits and out he comes accompanied by Shawn Spears. Once he settles in the ring, his theme dies down and then out comes his opponent for this qualifying match for the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match.

Max Caster's theme hits and he raps his way down to the ring accompanied by Anthony Bowens. His final rhyme line suggests that Wardlow is nothing more than MJF's b*tch-boy. Tony Schiavone goes out of his way to point out he agrees with that sentiment on commentary.

Now the bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this one. After Bowens grabs the boot of Wardlow from the ringside area, we see Caster jump off to an early offensive advantage. On that note, Excalibur talks us into a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.

When we return from the break we see Caster get a cheap shot in on Wardlow with a chain wrapped around his hand. He heads to the top-rope and follows up with his Mic Drop finisher for a super close near fall. Wardlow kicks out, however, and then counters a move attempted by him into his power bomb sequence. He puts his foot on Caster's chest and picks up the win to advance to the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match.

After the match, Bowens hits the ring and attacks Wardlow from behind, but he fights him off with relative ease and hits him with a power bomb as well. Spears hits the ring and hits Bowens with some chair shots for good measure.

Winner and ADVANCING to the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match: Wardlow

Britt Baker Gets Advice On What To Do If Mercedes Martinez Loses

Tony Schiavone is standing by behind-the-scenes with Mercedes Martinez. She is joined by Britt Baker and her cronies. She reminds Martinez that she better not lose against Thunder Rosa tonight. In comes the heel karate coach dude from the Karate Kid movies and when she leaves, Baker asks him what she should do if she loses. He says you know what to do -- no mercy. We head to another commercial break.

Adam Cole, Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly Beat Down Hangman Page

We return from the break and we see Hangman Page make his way out to the ring after Adam Cole cuts a mini promo. Cole calls Page "just another Adam" and says with all respect they are gonna fight one day. They shake hands and Cole exits the ring. As he does, we see Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly attack Page from behind.

Cole runs back to the ring and helps with the sneak attack beatdown of the champ. Out rushes security to restore order in the ring. The Dark Order runs to the ring and finally gets things split up but then No. 10 of The Dark Order goes rogue and starts beating down the security. He launches one out of the ring onto a bunch of other guards on the floor.

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager vs. Santana & Ortiz

Now we head back to the ring for a featured tag-team contest. On that note, the familiar sounds of Chris Jericho's theme plays as "Le Champion" makes his way to the ring accompanied by Jake Hager.

The duo settle into the ring and his music dies down. From there, the theme for Santana & Ortiz plays and out they come for this featured bout. As they settle into the ring, Eddie Kingston's theme hits and he comes out to a huge pop.

"The Mad King" taps hands with Santana & Ortiz as he settles into his spot at ringside. The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this one. Jericho and Santana kick things off for their respective teams.

After some back-and-forth action, we see Santana & Ortiz take control of the offense. On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial break. When we return from the break we see Hager take over for a bit, but ultimately, things shift back into the favor of the Proud 'N' Powerful duo.

Now we see Santana & Ortiz get Jericho in a vulnrable position and then they head to the top-rope for the Street Sweeper. They hit it but can't score the pin. Moments later, Jericho gets his Liontamer on but Santana makes it to the ropes. An unprovoked attack from Jericho to Kingston leads to the finish, which sees Santana & Ortiz pick up the pin.

After the match, Jericho looks shocked and he lunges out of the ring and charges at "The Mad King." The two duke it out until security breaks things up.

Winners: Santana & Ortiz

The Young Bucks Bicker With Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly

We shoot backstage where the trio of Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly are standing by. They talk about their interaction with Hangman Page and mention some upcoming matches they have scheduled and then reDragon asks where The Young Bucks were when things was going down with Hangman Page and The Dark Order.

This leads to the two teams bickering a bit and then they walk off in a huff as they vow to see each other in the Casino Battle Royale. We head to a commercial break after this.

No Disqualification
Mercedes Martinez vs. Thunder Rosa

When we return from the break, out comes Mercedes Martinez for our next match of the evening, which "The Dapper Yapper" points out will be a no disqualification match. She settles into the ring and her theme dies down.

From there, the theme for Thunder Rosa hits and she makes her way out in yellow ring attire with a steel chair in hand. Martinez meets her in the aisle and ends up eating a vicious chair shot from Rosa. Martin Kove, the Karate Kid actor from earlier in the show, is shown in the front row as another cameo on the broadcast this evening.

The action continues with Rosa in control of things. She heads out to the floor and pulls out a table but Martinez stops her before she can do anything further. She takes over control of the offense as they continue to brawl. Rosa ends up taking back over again and she climbs up the rails in the audience for a big diving splash spot onto Martinez.

After Martinez recovers a bit, she takes back over on offense as the commentators talk us into a mid-match commercial break. When we return, we see Martinez hit a crazy suplex on Rosa with the two landing on a table that is laying across the ring apron. The action picks back up in the ring and Rosa starts to take over.

Rosa puts a trash can over Martinez's head and runs over and blasts it with a kick. She goes for the cover, however Martinez manages to hang on and keep this match alive. Rosa drags Martinez to the corner and climbs up to the middle rope. Martinez bashes Rosa in the head with a trash can lid and then climbs up after her.

She hits a crazy German suplex on Rosa off the ropes and folds her in half. Brutal. She climbs up to the top after that and connects with a flying elbow smash. She goes for the cover but Rosa somehow kicks out after the count of two. Martinez lays some chairs in the middle of the ring and hooks Rosa looking for a piledriver or power bomb of some type. She hoists her up but Rosa counters into a crucifix bomb. She then picks Martinez up and hits her finisher on the chairs for the pin fall victory.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter & Rebel Beat Rosa & Martinez Down

Once the match wraps up, we see Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Rebel come to the ring after Rosa tries showing Martinez respect with a handshake. The trio beats down Rosa and Martinez and leave them laying to end the post-match segment.

Jay White Vignette

A Jay White vignette airs to promote an announced match for this week's edition of AEW Rampage. After that we hear the commentators run down some more matches for Rampage, as well as next Wednesday's Dynamite, before we head back to another break.

TNT Championship
Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara (C)

We return from the break to the familiar sounds of Darby Allin's theme. He makes his way out and gets some word of encouragement from Sting before heading to the ring. He settles in the ring and his music dies down.

Now the theme for the champ plays as TNT title-holder Sammy Guevara makes his way out and heads to the ring for our main event of the evening. This has big-fight feel written all over it.

Things get off to a fast start as these two are going at it and flying all over the place. We see Guevara start to take over as we pause momentarily for a mid-match commercial break as the action continues in this, our main event of the evening.

We're back from the break and as soon as we return, Darby catches Guevara with a big move that shifts the offensive momentum into his favor. He hangs Guevara upside down in the tree of woe in the corner and climbs up after him.

Darby locks Sammy in a single-leg crab in this position but Guevara gets free and hooks Darby for an absolutely insane Spanish Fly off the top-rope. That looked unbelievable. Guevara sells his leg upon landing and then goes for the cover. Darby kicks out and Sammy goes right back to clutching his leg.

The fans break out in a split chant, with half of the crowd chanting Sammy Guevara's name and the other half chanting Darby Allin's. Allin approaches Guevara but Sammy blasts him with a knee. Darby leaps off the middle rope seconds later and ends up locking Sammy in a figure-four leg lock.

Allin cranks back on the hold as Guevara yells out in pain. Darby continues to apply pressure to the already weakened knee of the champ. Guevara fires up while in the hold and smacks Darby. Darby smacks him back and then the hold is released. Guevara runs at Darby looking for a knee strike but misses and smashes his hurt knee into the corner.

He goes for the GTH out of nowhere but Darby avoids it and turns Sammy inside-out. He follows that up by coming over the top for a stunner. The momentum sends Sammy out to the floor and Darby follows him out by diving through the ropes for a big splash. Sammy fights back into the lead on the floor and then lays Darby on the ring apron.

Guevara signals to the camera that he is crazy before climbing to the top and going for a wild senton splash that misses. Back in the ring we see Jose The Assistant try and distract Darby as he climbs to the top looking for his Coffin Drop. The ref breaks things up as Sting beats down Jose. While this is going on the ref is tied up with it and Andrade arrives on the scene and blasts Darby. This leaves Darby laid out. Sammy recovers and picks Darby up and blasts him with a GTH. He goes for the cover and gets the three count to retain his title in an excellent main event.

Winner and STILL TNT Champion: Sammy Guevara

After The Match: Andrade & Matt Hardy Cause Chaos

After the match, Matt Hardy hits the ring and starts firing away at a lifeless Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara with punches. Andrade comes out and steals the TNT titles. Sting runs them off.

The show goes off the air with Andrade hoisting the TNT titles up in the air as Matt Hardy stands at his side. We see Sting staring them down from the ring while Guevara and Allin are laid out. That's how this one ends, folks. Thanks for joining us!
