AEW RAMPAGE RESULTS (5/13/2022)
This week's show kicks off with the usual, "This is Rampage, baby!" theme song and cold open video package.
From there, we shoot inside the arena in Long Island as Excalibur welcomes us to the show with the usual "It's Friday night, and you know what that means" catchphrase.
After that, we head down to the ring for our first match of the evening, which features competitors who have already made their entrance(s) to the ring.
Death Triangle vs. Andrade Family Office
AEW Trios action will get us started inside the ring on this week's show, as we've got Death Triangle matched up against the Andrade Family Office in our opening contest.
The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with our first of a handful of matches scheduled for this week's show.
Penta El Zero Miedo kicks things off for his team, while The Blade starts it off for his team. The crowd is already hot and making loud chants for the Death Triangle trio.
Some double-team action from The Butcher and The Blade help shift the momentum to their team. Jericho names them the J.A.S. sports entertainers of the week.
Jericho says if anyone has a problem with that, he'll throw a fireball on their faces. He then rants a bit about Eddie Kingston.
We see some more dominant offense from the heel team and then the Death Triangle trio begins firing up for a comeback. As they do, we see a big high spot from the ring to the floor and then we head to a mid-match commercial break.
When we return from the break, we see some big double-team spots from The Butcher and The Blade that nearly finishes off Fenix.
Instead, Fenix survives the pin attempt and begins a fired up offensive comeback for his team. Penta gets the tag and helps continue the shift of momentum to his team.
PAC tags in and after hitting a few spots, he heads to the top rope and connects with his Black Arrow finisher for the pin fall victory.
When the match wraps up, we see Death Triangle celebrating in the ring when the lights go out. When they come back on, The House of Black are in the front staring them down.
Before anything else happens, the lights go out again and when they return, The House of Black have all vanished. We head to another commercial break after this.
Winners: Death Triangle
Shawn Spears vs. Bear Boulder
When we return from the break, we see the ring entrance of Shawn Spears. "The Chairman of AEW" makes his way to the ring as he will be in one-on-one action next.
Shawn Spears' music fades down and then we see his opponent, already in the ring, Bear Boulder.
The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this one.
We see Spears dominate from the word go and it isn't much longer later when he hits his C4 finisher for the win -- calling out the name of "Wardlow" in the process.
Winner: Shawn Spears
Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament
Riho vs. Ruby Soho
We move to the women's division for our next match of the evening, which will be contested in the women's division.
In one-on-one action, we've got Riho taking on Ruby Soho to determine who advances to the next round of the new inaugural tourney.
The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this quarterfinal showdown.
We see some back-and-forth action and then we watch as Riho jumps into the lead as we head into a mid-match commercial break.
As we settle back in from the break, we see Riho starting to struggle with Soho, who ends up ultimately scoring the victory to advance in the tourney.
Winner and ADVANCING in the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament: Ruby Soho
Tony Schiavone Talks To Jade Cargill & The Baddies
Tony Schiavone is with AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill and The Baddies (Red Velvet and Kiera Hogan).
It was announced that Kris Statlander will be replacing the injured Hikaru Shida against Red Velvet next week in an Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Quarterfinal Match.
The injury was not explained but it was said Shida was injured during the Philly Street Fight loss to Serena Deeb on the April 27th episode of AEW Dynamite.
Scorpio Sky (C) vs. Frankie Kazarian
We see Mark Henry backstage ready for his split-screen, pre-main event interview with the two competitors involved in tonight's main event.
From there, we see Sky and Kaz take their turns talking and then Henry does his "It's enough talk" catchphrase to wrap things up.
Now we head inside the arena where Frankie Kazarian's theme hits and the former SCU member makes his way to the ring.
Kaz settles into the ring and then Scorpio Sky's music hits and the reigning, defending champion makes his way out.
With both guys in the ring, the bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this week's title match main event.
Straight out of the gate this one gets going with high-intensity, fast-paced offense. We settle into a mid-match commercial break as Sky dominates the action.
When we return, we see Kaz fight from underneath and then back into control of the offense.
Kaz goes for the Chicken Wing, which he has a great track record of using to finish matches, although this doesn't appear to be one of those scenarios.
Instead, Sky fights back into the lead and eventually gets his TKO finisher to score the pin fall victory to successfully retain his TNT title in an excellent main event.
After the match, we see Sky and Ethan Page pull a fast one on everyone which sets Kaz up for a cheap shot from Sky with the belt.
We see Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti watching from the crowd, and they ultimately hit the ring to run off The Men of the Year. That's how this week's show wraps up. Thanks for joining us!
Winner and STILL TNT Champion: Scorpio Sky
