Bryan Alvarez mentioned on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that top AEW star Konosuke Takeshita may have competed in the NJPW G1 Climax finals while dealing with a concussion he sustained in the previous match. Alvarez revealed that Takeshita was severely affected in the semifinal match against Zack Sabre Jr., to the point where he couldn’t remember the match or his post-match promo.
The report also stated that NJPW suggested Takeshita was fit to wrestle, allowing him to compete the following night. His finals match against EVIL was described as a “hard match.” After that, Takeshita flew to Scotland for an AEW Collision taping.
Takeshita won the G1 Finals and subsequently faced Tomohiro Ishii on Collision, which will air on TNT later tonight.
