AEW's Ricochet Involved In Social Media Controversy This Week; Issues Apology

AEW star Ricochet was involved in a bit of a social media controversy this week that ended up gaining some mainstream negative publicity.

Responding to a fan who was critical of his acting abilities, suggesting that he hasn't improved in that capacity, Ricochet responded with "I'm glad you got MS" which elicited widespread criticism and backlash. After first doubling down and suggesting that the internet wrestling community who are "little b*tches" that could dish out criticism of him and his wife but not receive it, Ricochet then apologized with the following statement:

"I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are effected by MS. She didnt deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward I’ll do better."

At the time, it was unclear what prompted the outspoken Ricochet in backtracking and issuing the apologizing and there was some speculation that perhaps AEW forced him to apologize though Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio had a different reason.

According to him, it was a friend of Ricochet's who "called him out" and suggested that he take the tweet down. After thinking about it, Meltzer claims Ricochet not only took the tweet down but ended up posting an apology pointing out that nobody forced him to do that. Meltzer says there hasn't been any reaction from AEW on the controversy.
