AJ Styles Talks About Fans Expectations Possibly Being Too High For His WrestleMania 38 Match Against Edge

AJ Styles spoke with Wrestling Inc. this week to promote his match against Edge at WrestleMania 38: Night 2.

During the discussion, "The Phenomenal One" spoke about the high expectations fans have for his match against "The Rated-R Superstar," as well as if he has nerves heading into the bout. He also talks about his past WrestleMania match against Shane McMahon.

Featured below are some of the highlights from the interview where he touches on these topics with his thoughts.

On whether he has nerves going into his match with Edge: “I don’t think so. I’ve been doing this over 20 years, the pressure is what it used to be, I am just looking forward to having a great match.”

On how expectations for the match might be too high: “Well, see there’s the dilemma. The expectations might be too high, and so it will hurt the match. I just hope to have something very entertaining and make some moments.”

On how his match with Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33 delivered: “Well listen, there’s a reason people are like, ‘you remember that Shane McMahon – AJ Styles match? Yeah, that was really good.’ Because the expectations were so low, we could only go as far as they’d let us. It was a good match. Shane’s a perfectionist and I had a really good match with him.”
