Alberto El Patron will put the AAA Mega Championship on the line against El Hijo del Vikingo at AAA’s May 31st television taping.
As part of the promotional push for the match, Del Rio appeared on the popular morning show Venga la Alegría, where Vikingo's father was also featured. The segment took a heated turn when Del Rio launched a surprise attack on Vikingo’s father during the broadcast.
In a major development last month, WWE announced it had acquired Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. The two companies will team up for the upcoming WWE x AAA: Worlds Collide event on June 7th. WWE may have inadvertently spoiled the result of the Mega Title match, as they’ve advertised a Vikingo vs. Chad Gable bout at Worlds Collide—with the AAA Mega Championship on the line.
Vikingo made a surprise appearance on the May 26th edition of WWE Raw, getting physical with Gable after being blindsided during Gable’s Money in the Bank qualifying match.
