WWE held its 2025 Crown Jewel premium live event (PLE) on Saturday, October 11, at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia. The show started with some controversy even before it began airing on the ESPN app. Singer Sophie Foster performed the national anthems of the United States and Australia, but the audience reacted negatively, loudly booing the U.S. national anthem.
This reaction seems to be part of a growing trend during WWE events held outside of the U.S. International fans have been known to boo the U.S. national anthem, a phenomenon that was also observed earlier this year at the Elimination Chamber event in Toronto, Canada, where the Canadian crowd similarly booed the U.S. anthem.
I’ve never heard an anthem so resoundingly booed 🤣 #CrownJewel pic.twitter.com/oUXPNb7gZ5
