Backstage Details on CM Punk Going After Tony Khan at All In Incident

-- Prior to AEW Collision last night, CEO Tony Khan addressed the audience and the termination of CM Punk where he cited that he felt threatened about his security and safety without getting into more details. In this week's edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer detailed a "neutral" source's account of what happened at the All In London backstage skirmish that ultimately put into the motion Punk's release.

-- According to the version, it was a non-wrestler neutral source who witnessed the ordeal and his version was that when Jack Perry came to the back, Punk went nose-to-nose to with him and aggressively asked him if he had a problem. The person said Perry said he was only looking to get heat as a heel and Punk then shoved him hard. Perry then got into Punk's face at which time Punk sucker punched him and went in for a choke. Others immediately broke it up and Khan got involved, yelling at Punk to let him go.

-- After being separated, Punk then "lunged" at Khan's direction but a number of other people got in his way. Punk repeatedly kept yelling "I quit" at Khan, and as reported, monitors were knocked down. Samoa Joe was upset and went over to calm Punk down.

-- Earlier today, Meltzer spoke on Wrestling Observer Radio and hinted that Punk did a lot more than simply lunge at Khan:

“Throughout this whole ordeal, you (co-host Bryan Alvarez) and I were far too kind to him. That’s the reality, we were far too kind. I always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, I always tried to give his side. But they didn’t want to hear it, they just wanted to go, Oh you are after him, and everything like that. Lunging was far too kind. If you saw the actual wording of what was said, I was toning it down. It was more than lunging.”
