Backstage Details On Swerve Strickland's New Contract With AEW

-- Over the weekend, Swerve Strickland was shown signing a new contract with AEW and if anyone had any doubts about whether this was a move strictly for storyline purposes, fightfulselect.com has additional details on the legitimacy of the new deal.

-- According to their report, Swerve Strickland originally inked a contract in March 2022 that was to last two years taking him through March of 2025. However, it has become evidently clear that Swerve has vastly outperformed the terms of the deal while enjoying a lengthy title reign and so the company quickly engaged in negotiations to extend the contract.

-- Even though there was still several months left on his original deal, AEW prioritized locking him down for multiple years and the new agreement is believed to run through at least 2028 though exact terms and length are not known. The fightful report indicated that it is considered one of the biggest deals in AEW's history. Officials within AEW have long stated that they have been thrilled with Swerve's performance both in and out of the ring and he is expected to remain "at the top of the card" for the duration of the new contract.
